Will we be able to choose a backstory like in Mass Effect?

I mean this is the sequel to a game that was based around the idea of having an origin story so why not add a list of backstories that can be referenced in game? It would be an alternative to an origin story if you will.

Atleast give us that Bioware.

One presumes we will live the backstory, in that we will escape from Lothering in the same manner that the other origins escape from their situations. Beyond that, making up your own backstory is part of the fun of a roleplaying game, and one of the things that differeniates them from orher genres. You get to decide who your character is, what's happened to them (beyond the basic introduction), and the kind of person they are.

unknown as of yet

I was under the impression that Lothering would play like an origin though. It would be nice if they did both though actually

it would make sense to give us some say on parts to Hawke's back story and personality. One of the defining marks of dragon age was literally building our own character, so it wouldn't bode well for Bioware to remove that element of customization altogether...

There may be some differences in Hawke's upbringing and backstory depending on your class.

At least for the mage.  Rogue and warrior can fit with growing up in Lothering their entire life.

Do the back stories need to be class specific?, they worked well in ME for all classes, however I understand the whole Circle of Magi vs Apostate thing but surely being a traveller, orphan or even town drunkard could be applicable to all?
