I restarted the game and it worked but then I died and I wanted to reload my savegame. Then the same message came again.
Well maybe the Bioware servers are just at their limit. It happens. But here's what gives me a hard on: What happens if I want to play on my laptop and there isn't any internet-connection? Am I unable to play my Characters with my DLC as well?
Even though this is an EA game I didn't think it would come as far as the UBI-Launcher! The DLC was offered to me as a gift for purchasing the retail version of the game and now I have to be online to play?
I don't want to rant like a troll here but that's just weak... Please tell me that it hasn't come this far... I love Bioware games and I don't want to boycott Bioware's games because EA's policy of DRM screws up like Ubisoft's did...

It authorizes, then de-authorizes.. I'm never able to see Shale's area (I'm able to get the rod from the merchant, but not get to shale)

I've tried almost everything apart from re-installing. I might try that now.
Once you patch it etc click on Downloadable Content and wait for your Bioware points to be updated and then you load your save game.
Ah yeah, people keep saying that and the thing is...I've bloody already tried that. Seriously don't you think I've tried waiting. I've tried waiting for over an hour and still nothing.

BioWare please get this through your thick skulls: I am a paying customer that is dealing with a now unplayable game due to anti-piracy crap. On the flip side if I WAS a pirate my game would be cracked and I would now be merrily playing the game I currently have in DRM limbo.
The ONLY thing draconian DRM stops is paying customers from wanting to buy more of your stuff. Doesn't do diddly squat for the pirates themselves. Blizzard realized this and is releasing Starcraft2 with old school CD key only protection. I guess they want my money.

I agree with Tiana, Piracy is easy, quick, and most importantly, cheap. DRM's do nothing to stop piracy, I don't know how game publishers haven't picked up on this.

OTOH, stuff like "Shaperate's Blessing" still isn't happening. Maybe a game this size could use an extra designer on the patch crew, or are we counting on DA nexus now, as we counted on Balderdash and its successors in the past?

Though this should be fixed ASAP. Bioware can't be lax on something like this, it gives off a really bad image that I dont want Bioware to have, the whole "Well you bought it, and we are on a sequal now, so sucks to be you, no help to get here!"
EDIT: As I thought, it didnt last, it soon de-authorized again while I was in game.. What the hell. This online thing is BS

Dragon Age requires an internet connection to log you into your account and authorize your content AT THE MAIN MENU. UBI Software requires a internet connection all the time, at the main menu, while in the game, while saving your game etc.Prunebutt wrote...
The same Problem with me. I installed the latest patch and after that the message appeared and I couldn't resume to my Character.

Big difference between the 2 systems.

there is no reason for the DLC to authorize every single time, it's ridiculous.

Lol, for me it was sort of the exact opposite. I just got 2 DLCs and it all seemed to work perfectly. I patched up to 1.04 first, then I got the DLCs finished, then started the game and it went all fine. I even got quests and maps updated properly.sophee wrote...
After 30mins - its all working. Whew, wasn't wanting to re-install everything.
Suddenly, I finished the 3rd DLC (Stone Watcher thingie), and then I was told to restart before it was activated. I did so and that went fine as well, the Sulcher's Pass updated and I save-quit the game to check out the forums for some of my posts, something unrelated to this. Now suddenly all three DLCs are unavailable.
I also did as you guys above, I read this thread and did as you did. But still nothing. I guess I'll just have to wait a little, but it's really annoying because my save file is inacceccible and I had just planned to do some stuff for today. Ah well.
I hope the devs fix this soon.

I found a way around this. If it does not authorize your DLCs automatically, open up your web browser and log into your DA:O profile. Once you are logged into your profile, go back into your game and try starting it. That should take care of the not being logged in problem.
Thanks for that tip, I'll try to run the game while the web browser is up. It didn't work to just be logged in, though, maybe because I auto-login whenever I open the browser and auto-logout when the browser is down. I have no idea how IE works anymore, it's just too much confusion.

I started the game and still no update on the authorization, but the minute I clicked on "Online Profile" and then got the character updated onto the website and then returned to the game, it seemed to be fixed.
I'm gonna continue playing now, if something happens I'll repost. If not, then it should've worked.

For people using Windows 7, perhaps this might help: Open Start Menu, type 'services' in the search field, click on the services program that appears in the search list. Now look up Dragon Age Content Updater. Click on start in the left sidescreen. Re-start Dragon Age. Worked for me.
I tried this but unfortunately didn't work for me.
I have all the same problems with authenticating as everyone else with one difference. Even when I do wait for the auth to finish and resume my game the DLC content is not there! Specifically, Warden's Keep. I'm supposed to meet Levi Dryden at the base of Soldier's Peak but Soldier's Peak doesn't show up on my map. So frustrating!
