Why does it keep getting de-authorized? It was unauthorized, then I did as said before, waited, and it got authorized, now it's deauthorized AGAIN.

The same Problem with me. I installed the latest patch and after that the message appeared and I couldn't resume to my Character.

I restarted the game and it worked but then I died and I wanted to reload my savegame. Then the same message came again.

Well maybe the Bioware servers are just at their limit. It happens. But here's what gives me a hard on: What happens if I want to play on my laptop and there isn't any internet-connection? Am I unable to play my Characters with my DLC as well?

Even though this is an EA game I didn't think it would come as far as the UBI-Launcher! The DLC was offered to me as a gift for purchasing the retail version of the game and now I have to be online to play?

I don't want to rant like a troll here but that's just weak... Please tell me that it hasn't come this far... I love Bioware games and I don't want to boycott Bioware's games because EA's policy of DRM screws up like Ubisoft's did...

This issue keeps persisting.

It authorizes, then de-authorizes.. I'm never able to see Shale's area (I'm able to get the rod from the merchant, but not get to shale)

I've tried almost everything apart from re-installing. I might try that now.

Once you patch it etc click on Downloadable Content and wait for your Bioware points to be updated and then you load your save game.

Ah yeah, people keep saying that and the thing is...I've bloody already tried that. Seriously don't you think I've tried waiting. I've tried waiting for over an hour and still nothing.

I'm having the same problem w/ mine as well. And it also does that authorize then de-authorize BS. I've tried waiting and tried all the other methods that had been suggested and so far no luck. and even when I do get the chance to load my saved game, Alistair, who's geared up w/ RtO items appears naked. As amusing as it is to watch him tank some darkspawns in the buff, I still can't shake off the problem that the game that I've purchased is inconveniently almost unavailable for me to play.

Sorry for ranting here, but I just have to put it out there. I just hope that this problem gets resolved soon. I'm starting to wonder we migh thave to wait for the next patch. *sigh*

I had the problem and waited a few minutes then it authorized. Then I quit out and went to watch a movie. When I came back it was de-authorized again and now I'm sitting here 15min later still watching the BioWare points balance spinning around saying Updating and not authorizing a bloody thing.

BioWare please get this through your thick skulls: I am a paying customer that is dealing with a now unplayable game due to anti-piracy crap. On the flip side if I WAS a pirate my game would be cracked and I would now be merrily playing the game I currently have in DRM limbo.

The ONLY thing draconian DRM stops is paying customers from wanting to buy more of your stuff. Doesn't do diddly squat for the pirates themselves. Blizzard realized this and is releasing Starcraft2 with old school CD key only protection. I guess they want my money.

This is getting rediculous. I put down good money to play this DLC (That doesn't even friggin work in Awakening any way), and now I can't? Don't tell me to wait, because I let it wait for 6 hours while I did other things. Service won't stay started, in game DLC authorizes then shuts down again. I had enough damn trouble getting the stupid DLC to register to my account in the first place, and now I can't even use the stupid things.

I agree with Tiana, Piracy is easy, quick, and most importantly, cheap. DRM's do nothing to stop piracy, I don't know how game publishers haven't picked up on this.

I have installed again the game, and patched 1.04. Now, all my contents are works fine, except Warden's keep. I have downloaded all contents(digital deluxe edition), close program, start program, and now all contents except Warden's keep are installed, and Warden's keep is stopped to 0 per cent, as I have not download it. But I have. -_-''''''

Yeah, well, what can I say, authorisation was working just fine before the latest patch, now it takes really really long and I also enjoyed my first instance of the "disappearing DLC" issue.

OTOH, stuff like "Shaperate's Blessing" still isn't happening. Maybe a game this size could use an extra designer on the patch crew, or are we counting on DA nexus now, as we counted on Balderdash and its successors in the past? ;)

What seems to work for me now (Though im sure it wont last long) is re-logging in the game.

Though this should be fixed ASAP. Bioware can't be lax on something like this, it gives off a really bad image that I dont want Bioware to have, the whole "Well you bought it, and we are on a sequal now, so sucks to be you, no help to get here!"

EDIT: As I thought, it didnt last, it soon de-authorized again while I was in game.. What the hell. This online thing is BS

Dragon Age requires an internet connection to log you into your account and authorize your content AT THE MAIN MENU. UBI Software requires a internet connection all the time, at the main menu, while in the game, while saving your game etc.

Big difference between the 2 systems.

there is no reason for the DLC to authorize every single time, it's ridiculous.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if Bioware has addressed this problem and is currently working on a solution? I think this is more my concern now than my game's unavailability.

I found a way around this. If it does not authorize your DLCs automatically, open up your web browser and log into your DA:O profile. Once you are logged into your profile, go back into your game and try starting it. That should take care of the not being logged in problem.

After 30mins - its all working. Whew, wasn't wanting to re-install everything.

Lol, for me it was sort of the exact opposite. I just got 2 DLCs and it all seemed to work perfectly. I patched up to 1.04 first, then I got the DLCs finished, then started the game and it went all fine. I even got quests and maps updated properly.

Suddenly, I finished the 3rd DLC (Stone Watcher thingie), and then I was told to restart before it was activated. I did so and that went fine as well, the Sulcher's Pass updated and I save-quit the game to check out the forums for some of my posts, something unrelated to this. Now suddenly all three DLCs are unavailable.

I also did as you guys above, I read this thread and did as you did. But still nothing. I guess I'll just have to wait a little, but it's really annoying because my save file is inacceccible and I had just planned to do some stuff for today. Ah well.

I hope the devs fix this soon.

Thanks for that tip, I'll try to run the game while the web browser is up. It didn't work to just be logged in, though, maybe because I auto-login whenever I open the browser and auto-logout when the browser is down. I have no idea how IE works anymore, it's just too much confusion.

Ok, I figured it out. Maybe this was what Trillain meant, I'm not sure:

I started the game and still no update on the authorization, but the minute I clicked on "Online Profile" and then got the character updated onto the website and then returned to the game, it seemed to be fixed.

I'm gonna continue playing now, if something happens I'll repost. If not, then it should've worked.

It takes 15 seconds to authorise every time I start the game. After it crashes and I restart it, it takes another 15 seconds to authorise.

This is leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

For people using Windows 7, perhaps this might help: Open Start Menu, type 'services' in the search field, click on the services program that appears in the search list. Now look up Dragon Age Content Updater. Click on start in the left sidescreen. Re-start Dragon Age. Worked for me.

I tried this but unfortunately didn't work for me.

I have all the same problems with authenticating as everyone else with one difference. Even when I do wait for the auth to finish and resume my game the DLC content is not there! Specifically, Warden's Keep. I'm supposed to meet Levi Dryden at the base of Soldier's Peak but Soldier's Peak doesn't show up on my map. So frustrating!

You're not the only one. I'm also missing Warden's Keep, Return to Ostagar and Shale contents. I'm surprised that Bioware/EA haven't officialy address this problem yet (or have they?) I just want to know if they're going to fix this right away or will we have to wait for the next patch. I really hope it's not the latter.

Same problem here. All my premium content is now unauthorized. It's almost understandable on patch day, but a week later? WTF?

For those having trouble: try starting the Dragon Age configuration utility and, under the Repair tab, tell it to clear your download cache. This has resolved activation problems for me before. Others who are having problems may want to run the game as an administrator to make sure the authentication service starts properly.

I've tried everything except running the game as an administrator. How do I do that?
