I take part of what I said back.  The game is taking forever to authenticate stuff, although it does work.  What a pain in the ass.  I can't believe that this game's online features have been half-broken since launch, with nothing improved even after all these updates.

It should only be necessary in Windows Vista and Windows 7.  Right-click the game icon and select "Run as Administrator".  You should get a UAC pop-up; press Yes to start the game.  That might help you out.

I installed 1.04 and then bought leliana's quest and it won't work with 1.04. It is looking for patch 1.03. can i roll back the pathch to 1.03?

I have found a quick solution for this problem. You can wait for the authorization to take place, but when you restart the game it 'might' happen again. I think it has something to do with the authorization servers being too stressful.

Anyway, the fix is, log out, load your save game and open the menu. Log in, and voila. I'm not sure if the DLC works after that because I haven't tried it yet. I do think you are able to play the content when you are offline, though.

I love bioware but I hate EA. I mean, I'm the only one here playing Dragon Age in this household, but if I had a brother and I would share the game, would we have to buy seperate DLC for our accounts? If so, it sounds like money hungry EA.

I had this problem the first time I played after 1.04. What I did was go to DLC and where everything was listed as unauthorized, I unchecked every box - turned off all the DLC. I then quit the game and restarted. When the game restarted, all my DLC was unchecked, but no longer showing as unauthorized. I re-checked everything and started playing as regular. The problem did not repeat in future sessions.

Haven't had any authorization problems until 1.04. Now it takes at least a minute to authorize each time the game is started. After reinstalling and re-patching, I get the same results. Patches are meant to only fix things, not break others in the process. Again...please fix! ...along with all the other unresolved gameplay bugs since game release.

First and foremost, try and smore006 pointed out. Just wait for a bit until the servers pull down the necessary authorization for your DLC. Due to the way that some of the authorization issues were resolved, it's possible that it just needs to re-grab it off the servers and all will play nice after that. Generally speaking if it refreshes the correct number of BioWare points, it should (very) shortly after have nabbed the correct authorization. edit: you can view this in action on the Downloadable Content menu itself.

Yeah, once you log in and authenticate, you can log out indefinitely and keep all your DLC.  The downside, of course, is that you get no online features.  Isn't that just about the story of Dragon Age - broken features requiring you to come up with work arounds that remove other features.

None of the above solutions work for me. The only two DLC that unauthenticated in the first place is Wardens Keep and the Stone Prisoner. No matter what I've tried (even removing and re-downloading) the game refuses to authenticate them. It is really infuriating.

I posted this in the FAQ thread, but decided to here as well. This is frustrating. I had to update my email address because I switched providers and no longer have access to the original acct. Anyway, I switched my email with EA and now here and everything works fine offline.



Wardens Keep, Stone Prisoner, Blood Dragon Armor, etc are all under my registered game promotions here. Now, when I load up DA and log in to my acct, using the new email, everything is fine except The Wardens Keep and The Stone Prisoner are UNauthorized. Blood Dragon Armor is Authorized just fine. I have no idea what is wrong, but it is very frustrating.



Anyone have any clue what could be done?

Dear Bioware;

Why doesn't  your code work?  I paid for these features and it appears you cannot deliver on your side of the bargain.

This seems to break every patch, fix your code and get it working stop screwing around and fix it.  It's annoying and i'm seriously considering not buying online offerings produced by your company. 

Steam has no problem playing, installing and manging your keys and everything and you are telling me you cannot get your DLC's to work.  1 word...

UNACCEPTABLE.

I was a bit unsure of running the patch, but since I'm expecting awakenings to arrive next week I figured I'd better run it, so far no problems, have to wait a minute atthe main screen for the DLC I have downloaded to be authorized, otherwise I get a message when trying to load a game that it contains premium content, and I have to be logged in.



I will see what happens if I create a new character tomorrow.

I wanted to provide an update.  I got it working.  These are the exact steps  I took.  I had to redownload all of the official DLC and reinstall all of my mods, but it DID work.  Here are the steps:

Shut down Dragon Age: Origins

From the Windows desktop, click the Start button, then select Run

At the command prompt, type "net stop DAUpdaterSvc" and click OK

Navigate to My Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Settings and delete the files Manifest.xml, Offers.xml, and addins.xml

Navigate to My Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age and delete the Offers folder

Go to C:\\Documents and Settings\\All Users\\Application Data\\BioWare\\Dragon
Age\\ and delete the DAUpdater folder (where C: is the default directory)

Navigate back to My Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age and delete the folder called AddIns

Return to the command prompt (click Start, then Run) and type "net start DAUpdaterSvc" before clicking OK

Restart Dragon Age: Origins and log in

I hope this solves some of the issues others are having as well.  Good luck all!

With above tips i got everything working again. Except that i lost everything i collected from soldier's peak. When i speak to levi dryden in camp. He askes me to come with him but when i go there the peak is cleared out. But no family dryden in the castle square like before? How can i get everything back without replaying the full game?

So after waiting a while for bioware to fix things (And not. At all. Not even indicating anything was wrong) I took matters into my own hands. I uninstalled every trace of the game, forced the updater service, and then re-installed everything. Once I re-installed dlc (Located in documents/bioware/dragonage/addins folder), things started to authorized. I alt-tabbed out during the installation process and the game crashed on me. So I restarted the game, tried to log in, and lo and behold, I can't. It's like I'm wading through a pile of **** over and over just to get things to work. I used to hold you in such high respect Bioware, even hoping for you to fix my favorite MMO, WAR. But you didn't, and now I can't even log in to a simple game.

I take it all this has something to do with why I'm logged out and can't log back in? "The EA Servers Are Currently Unavailable."

I had this problem one time since I reinstalled my DLC.  I think I clicked resume too quickly when I first loaded up the game.  I quit out and came back in and Dryden was no longer in my camp and all my items were there.  Of course, I had loaded the game IN MY CAMP and wasnt out adventuring so I saw the issue right away.  I think you might be kinda screwed if you loaded the game up somewhere else, played for a while and then saved again...  Or at least have to replay the WK DLC to get all the items back... =/

I finally got my dlc's authorized. After doing everything that was suggested (short of tweaking around w/ the registries - didn't want to touch that), there was one very simple proceedure that worked. I got it from here: http://social.biowar...58/index/759141



The step I used was from the first post, very last paragraph. I can't believe after going through every complicated steps, it all came down to doing that one simple thing. Ugh! Anyway, hope this works for anyone still having trouble.

If all else fails, uninstalling/reinstalling DA will work. You may have to download the DLCs again.

This whole unauthorised rubbish is really starting to infuriate me, especially considering half of it is content I payed for. EA is your salvation through destruction.
