I am a fanatic about my characters appearance in game... to the extreme of deleting dozens of partial play thrus because I couldn't stand to look at my character any longer. I use Xbox 360 so mods are not an option.

Today I discovered a work around to get appearance to look ok in game. (not great, just ok.   IMO -  Bio Ware really needs a team working on improving the character design set and in-game translation of same.  This is a common complaint in ME, ME2, and DAO)

I use the portrait rather than the big character pic on the left. I noticed that some subtle changes to the big pic did not translate into the portrait, especially eyes, colors, skin tones and complexion - and the portrait is much closer to what the game uses in both play and cut scenes than the big pic.

FYI my method is to use the portrait rotations ie. look left/right along with look up/down to "test" the overall look of my character.  Its a bit of a pain and it takes longer to do,  but is not as annoying (to me) as multiple restarts.

Maybe this will be of use to some of you.

Haha this is true, the character you make in the creation process is often not the same character you see in game lol.
