Curiously wondering if the next game requires Dragon Age Orgins. Because I have removed Dragon age and since virtually nothing is being sent over why would it require DA1

No, but it uses saved data from DAO and Awakening to affect the world based on the decisions you made in those games.

It has been confirmed that there is a set canon for those who don't have Origins data. Kinda like starting Awakening with Orlesian Warden.
