Well, thanks (?) to Mr. Woo for closing the other thread. It could just have renamed the topic but... ( it, because clearly Mr. Woo is a bot as proven by so many threads... a Cylon Centurion perhaps!)

But this is the best of Football - Pitty that Paraguay didn't win the WC... she might have done an even hottier video!

http://www.youtube.com/v/HSnk7AjwunY

or in the normal YouTube format

And as he suggested, we can continue our discussion here. There are many good stuff in the old thread that I might try to repost here.

For instance, a very good, loud and clear explanation about Soccer, Football and Handball (rá!) by Mr. John Cleese!

John Cleese rants - Soccer vs Football

It was very nieve of you to not anticipate that. ;)

I think you knew full well what you were doing lol.

Oddly enough we have the whole football/soccer thing here too, annoying redneck types insist on calling football soccer and gaelic football football. People who try to be overly sectarian and republican do that too. My boss called it soccer today I was half tempted to hurdle the desk and go all Nigel De Jong on him. Its amazing how much football gets used as part of sectarian violence here.

*Randomly shouts "Manchester City rocks! Manchester United sucks!" into a crowd at a bar in Manchester. Then shoves a random guy and and yells angrily, blaming him for the shout.*

*then backs away and watches the ensuing violence*

@The_One

I dont think that would actually happen, more like banter would be exchanged. Rival teams will abuse each other and banter at each other. But here in Northern Ireland it gets used for violence like catholic biggots will support Glasgow Celtic even if they dont like football and protestant biggots will support Glasgow Rangers even if they dont like football. Look at the youtube footage of the rioting here last week and count the amount of Celtic and Rangers tops. Then you throw the whole gaelic football/soccer thing in and it makes the american football versus soccer debate look like nothing.

I think Americans have an unrealistic idea of football hooliganism. Its largely been stamped out, it does happen from time to time but rarely on a massive scale. Theres generally banter between rival fans, the rioting and all that tends to be caused by people who really have nothing to do with football and just want a riot.

The only thing I can imagine as Gaelic Football would be a team led by Asterix! I'm afraid to ask but... what is it?

Also, if you guys ever have a chance, get to watch " The Marriage of Romeo and Juliet". It is a movie about a Corinthians guy who dates a Palmeiras girl whose father is really fanatic, member of the club board, etc. He pretends to be a Palmeiras fan because the Corinthians-Palmeiras rivalry it's pretty much like Barcelona-Real Madrid's, although both teams are from the same city of São Paulo, or if you prefer, pretty much like Montagues and Capulets.

Well, I won't spoil it more but the only thing better than a Corinthians win is a Palmeiras loss and vice-versa. And Palmeiras did had a shot at the Clubs World Title some years back.  hehehe... I'm a Corinthians fan since I was born!

You can read more about  it here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0429743/ and it is a very good comedy about football and the passion it arouses.

Edit: huh.. pard my stupidity. I thought Gaelic had anything to do with the Gauls... my bad... googled for it and well, hehe, found out that it has not. =}

Haha I was wondering where you were going with the Asterix reference.

Erm Gaelic football is like a weird mix between rugby and football played by Irish rednecks. Its huge over the border but here in Northern Ireland its mostly played by hillbilly's.

I only ever played it the once and wasnt fully understanding the rules, theres like a normal football goal with rugby goals ontop of it. You get a goal for scoring in the goals and a point for scoring in the rugby goal. You can kick the ball from your hands too which meant I just started firing them into the rugby goal from my own half. Its pretty violent but apparently your not allowed to knock people out, no one told me that before we started playing.

The second video here is cool. Watch what Dunga never had since he never coached any team before taking over our national team.

Arsenal will be the champion of England this season. has anyone any news on Fabregas and if he remains on Arsenal or not ?

and if you have watched the world cup you should realized that the Best teams of WC has stars of 3 club teams:

Barcelona

Inter Milan

and

Bayern Munchen

so I conclude that these 3 teams have prepared the best players last season.

on the contrary Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester United have shown weak results in keep players prepared for National matches.

Whats the quick english version of what that says Rage? I gather Brazil have a new coach but does it say anything about his selection policy? I hear Chelsea have been making big bids for Neymar but have been rejected so far. He might be a bit young to come to Europe.

Um Adriano thats quite the leap of logic. Arsenal will be the same as every other season a promising start, injuries, start dropping points, more injuries being replaced with poor players, drop more points and then just fade away to 3rd. Fabregas is probably staying because Barca dont seem to have the money to buy him and he wont come out and either ask for a transfer or say he is staying. Barca keep saying how they want to sign him and they will sign him, its comments every single day yet FIFA never do anything. Barca cant afford to pay their wages and take out loans, yet FIFA and UEFA do nothing.

Oh, the text is about the new Brazilian Team coach, Mano Menezes, who for the past 2 and 1/2 years has been with Corinthians. He's very fond of new and young talents and has brought some from the younger team - under 20. But he also had a good experience with very well names like Ronaldo, who had a great season last years, with great goals and this year, Roberto Carlos, who is playing like a kid and is by far the best LB we have.

And the second video shows some of them, of Corinthians team, invading the press conference earlier today, to congratulate their coach, who is leaving my Corinthians now... sniff. Among them, Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos.

Next Monday Mano Menezes will call the names for our national team for the first time and we'll see clearer what's his selection policy.

Honestly? All of them. You'll see a very different team being chosen next Monday, mostly with players that works in Brazilian teams. That's my guess.

MANO MENEZES's list: (and a damn good one too. I can just hope he can make these guys play as a team like he did with my beloved Corinthians!)

Goalkeepers
Renan -  Avaí
Jefferson - Botafogo
Victor - Grêmio

Wide Back
Rafael - M. United
Marcelo - Real Madrid
André Santos - Fenerbahçe (ex Corinthians)
Daniel Alves - Barcelona

Center Back
David Luiz - Benfica
Henrique - Racing S.
Réver - Atlético-MG
Thiago Silva - Milan

Middlefielders
Ederson - Lyon
Carlos Eduardo - Hoffenheim
Hernanes - São Paulo (*)
Sandro - Internacional (*) - One of these two will be released as S.Paulo plays Internacional this WED in Libertadores semi final. The one going to the finals will be dismissed so he can play the finals for his team.
Paulo Henrique Ganso - Santos
Lucas - Liverpool
Jucilei - Corinthians
Ramires - Benfica

Attack
Robinho - Santos
Neymar - Santos
Alexandre Pato - Milan
Diego Tardelli - Atlético-MG
André - Santos

The marked names are my bet to be in the starting team and to be in 2014, if things goes right for Mano Menezes. He's an extremely competent coach and he can make a team play beautiful enough to make any spaniards drool. You should see what the Corinthians fans did yesterday in his last match commanding the team. And we are the most demanding fans in Brazil. Really a surprise he managed to stay with us for almost 3 years. Six months-1 years is the most a coach usually stays in a team here. Lose a few and you're out!

Have you ever seen Rafael play Rage? He is a good prospect, especially going forward. But at the minute he is a disaster in his own half, he is a penalty or red card waiting to happen. I remember before the champions league quarter final last year I said to a guy in football that he would be sent off before the end of the season and cost us big. 2 days later he was sent off against Bayern Munich costing us the game and the quarter final.

Was Diego Terdelli playing in Europe before? The name sounds familiar.

About Tardelli, from wiki:
"A product of São Paulo's youth system, Tardelli had abroad loan stints with La Liga's Real Betis (in the latter part of 2005–06) and Eredivisie club PSV Eindhoven (in 2006–07)".

No idea who is Rafael... heh... but I trust a good coach to mold him right, specially one who he can understand. The only reason these guys don't starve to death when they go play outside Brazil is because a cheeseburger is also called "cheeseburger" here.
