Well...I have a strict budget that I intend to keep. Me be poor..... ME3 is probably the only game I'll get at full price. Arkham City and its ton of dlcs.....somewhat peeved about that, so I'll wait for a game of the year edition of that.

I'm sure business will pick up for Blackburn once Bob's assistant learns to use the sausage machine.

Was wondering what that announcement during MOTD concerned at the time. Will have to see what comes out of that. Could get messy.

It did look that way with respect to resting players. Ultimately those are the decisions managers have to make, and there is no punishment this time round for fielding a 'weakened' team. De Gea looked good in that game; and as you say he's young and has a way to go as yet. To me goalkeepers seem to hit their stride in their 30s, by which time they have experience and still have athleticism.

Yay! Whoopee. All hail Gerrard as the saviour of English football. We're going to trounce all the opposition in the Euro finals by at least 3-0 in every game..... Nope, I can't go on. I think I'm losing the will to live.

I think Holt is seen as lacking pace to trouble many defenders in the Prem. He started the first few games before being dropped (I think), or before Lambert decided to make tactical changes to the squad as it were. Unfortunately for Holt the changes seem to have been fruitful. Mind you, at least Holt still gets a run out. Last time Norwich were promoted, Malky Mackay was captain of the club and didn't even get to feature in the Prem before being shipped off elsewhere. Tactically I think Holt would have to be an old fashioned centre-forward, the type associated with Heskey, and just be a pest up front to draw away attention from those who have the legs to get in and behind the defence.

Tons of dlc? I've kinda been on a bit of a blackout to avoid spoilers. Arkham City is the only thing keeping me sane in the wait for Skyrim though. That and NHL12, breaking two of Wayne Gretzky records with one shot was particularly satisfying. 216 points in one season and a 52 game point streak with one swing of my stick, magical.

I wonder what the odds on Bob's assistant ending up with his job are. My mate was telling me earlier that he learned while studying international business that making bodily noises like grunting and stuff is considered good manners in Indian business. Maybe Bob has some serious gas and thats how he ousted big Sam. Although something tells me beating Big Sam in a bodily noises contest takes some doing.

I think if United beat City then Sir Alex would be ecstatic with 4 points from those two games and taking points off City is much more important. Seems Evra is pursuing the case too.

Ray Wilkins seems far too nice for a former footballer. He seems to be in a class of his own amongst footballing folk.

Sort of sad that Holt's not really being given a big chance to prove he can do it in the PL too. But maybe the fact he has been dropped is confirmation he isn't good enough, its a two sided coin that one.

Anyone seen Barton's latest comments? Brilliant. What he said was true but he is the last person that can complain about the behaviour of others.

Depends on your stance with dlcs, Druss. I don't mind skins being exclusives much, though still annoyed, but exclusive playable game content I have to draw a line. As much as I was tempted to pre-order it, the increasing number of playable game content has changed my mind. Reviews suggest that Arkham City is even better than Arkham Asylum.

Until I read that last sentence I was thinking that. Also....maybe Bob's assistant is a potentially better butcher.

I recall that Ferguson left off Man City in the list of big teams during an interview, no doubt a mind game, but I'm pretty sure that given their start he would need to put them in place on the field. I don't think Man City have played many of the top teams yet, but their record against the smaller teams is pretty good considering. Bayern put them in place in Europe, so it remains to be seen whether they can stand up in the long haul in the league against Man Utd.

Saw that Evra would pursue it. Still anticipate a mess to come out of that situation. Suarez is one of those people that I would be suspicious of for some reason. His explanation that he didn't make any racist remarks doesn't really say anything really; it didn't explain anything. Not sure how the authorities would take it really.

It's always sad when the captain of the club is put in that position. Depending how games go he could still have a role to play as yet (again, he's had more of a go than Mackay back in the day). It just seems he doesn't fit the current required role. Depends how he feels about his role I would almost anticipate a loan move or something in January.

Thing about Suarez is he said he doesn't go out to cause harm and plays like a carefree child or something. Yet he has been caught on camera and infact banned for biting people, he has pulled hair and kicked people who are on the ground. Evidence proves he is lying. Why do footballers do that? Are they truly that stupid? Charlie Adam said he isn't the kind of player who dives, he has been caught diving more than once this season alone and has been booked for it in the past. They can't be that stupid, do they footage and memories disapear after 3 days?

Might be, but I read there's a Robin one and a Nightwing one with different move sets. At least from my hazy memory. It just seemed to get a bit ridiculous for my tastes. Catwoman I can understand, much like the whole DA2: Signature Edition with Sebastian. Have a large backlog stretching back to the previous generation of consoles so I have a lot to keep busy with should I choose to do so. Also...replaying ME (again)......

I'm sure Venky's have him lined up. Though the interview process could be either really long due to his coughing, or very quick as they are impressed by his coughing....

Yeah, and it really says nothing about whether the allegation is true. It may well be true he's going out as a care-free child, but it would seem that he acts like one as well at times. Children sometimes do very silly things that can be damaging. Even Balotelli seems to have been fairly silent (with respect to shenanigans) of late.

Perhaps they hope that the camera angles are wrong so it doesn't make them look bad. Seriously, if presenters can be sanctioned for off-air comments then I really can't see how footballers think they can get away with stuff on the pitch. The only conclusion I would come up with is that they are indeed that ignorant.

Ah...love that video. I'm sure Gerrard does have a word with his team mates when they dive and tells them not to do it....as they'd be stealing his schtick.

Welcome back, modjo. I/We're keeping the thread going.

The season's been pretty good so far. Really close so far with a couple of twists and turns. Throw in the inevitable wobbler by Tevez and Barton's outspoken nature we get a chuckle here and there, though that doesn't seem to always filter into the discussions.

England will probably make it through the group stage; anything else would be a bonus I think. Don't really think we're good enough to really progress that far in any international tournament.

In case you're wondering who Bob is...Bob is B.O.B.... is Butcher of Blackburn... is the manager of Blackburn....is Steve Kean...who we think got the job because he is a butcher. We don't mention Steve much (I'm sure it was Steve anyway) who is actually Arsenal's goalkeeper, who actually seems pretty good, Szczesny.

Hernandez looks like he'll be a major player with his vital goals for Man Utd, who won their game in the Champions League last night. Can't even say the name of the team they beat.....

Hm...feels like ages then, modjo. Auto left the forums a while back; there were some kerfuffles with other members here as I understand it but I'm not entirely sure. As a result things have been a little quieter around here. Someone started a 'favourite football team' thread a while back, and there were quite a few posters there I don't recognize but it seems none of them are up to discussing football though. Not sure where you got a win meaning United go through OBaka. I think we are on 5 points with 3 games left now. The sending off was an odd one. The second penalty Rooney was going down before the guy touched him, I don't like that. He was waiting for the touch to go down.

Hernandez is a great striker but not a great player yet. His all around play remains a bit sloppy.

Seems Boca were in for Tevez but he won't take a pay cut to go home to Argentina where his family is and to one of these teams he claims to love. Hhmmmm....

Well, the Signature Edition kerfuffle was enough for me (well...the shield and sword thing anyway), but with Arkham City the Robins (c'mon, Nightwing was the first Robin) are used on the challenge maps (which there are exclusives of as well) which gets...confusing. Irritating to be honest.

Indeed, I think I can think of separate points concerning the quotes in the video. Am tempted to do so and go through it point by point....except I can't be bothered right now.

Yeah...looks like we're still in the early parts of the Champions League, my bad. Still...a win's a win. Heard the red card for Vidic was harsh; seems to be the standard now-a-days. I thought Man City had fluffed it until Aguero struck.

Read that thing about Boca....honestly, after how Tevez has treated some of these teams I am surprised at their apparent willingness to have him back. I don't recall him throwing too much of a wobbler at Man Utd though, but then they have Ferguson in charge and given the infamous hairdryer treatment I somewhat doubt Tevez even wanted to pull anything like that with him. Just imagine if he had.....

Oh...saw Owen on a Question of Sport the other night. Has he played much this season?

Last I read (on Ceefax this morning!) was that Platini was going to address the Swiss courts because Sion are still trying to take Celtic's (?) place, and he'll tell them 'no'. I think he also mentioned the good old whatsitcalled....Court of Arbitration for Sports (or something) to have the final say on the matter. I still think it's daft for Sion to even try anything quite frankly. I think there were rumblings that they would travel to the match but have decided against it; but given to how they're reasoning goodness knows what they will do.

Aguero has been accused by mocking Villarreal's players after the game. Why are these things coming out? Is it really bad? Though I guess it depends how it went; recall the 5-1 win by England over Germany? I remember Gerrard taking the ball in play and ran around Dieter Hamann with it; that is surely mocking (or quite frankly...extracting the urine) behaviour. Or is this just childish exuberance they are demonstrating?

I heard you can't get Robin in the UK at all. The whole thing seems to be a complete mess. I checked and its definately a Batman Beyond skin that I'm getting. I'm not even sure what Batman Beyond is.

I maintain my stance that Gerrard is the worst diver in England. He might not do it the most but he is just plain awful at it. Its never even close to convincing.

Tevez did start stuff at United. He made constant comments and complaints, he even did that whole thing where he celebrated cupping his ears infront of Sir Alex. He then tried to turn the fans against Sir Alex whilst making ridiculous wage demands behind the scenes.

Owen has played twice this season I think. Once against Leeds and then he came on as a sub in another game I think. I can't quite recall because he tends to be a bit invisible when he is on.

What I'd heard was Celtic were going to have to play extra games because Sion were being allowed back into the competition. Its opening a bit of a dodgy avenue, what if a team goes out to a goal that clearly shouldn't have counted and take it to the courts to get back in?

Isn't doing step-overs and nutmegging people mocking too? What about chipping penalties straight down the middle? Maybe he took his mocking to extreme measured and wrote the score allover their dressing room in his own turd? Its all a bit...meh? To be honest so is Aguero alledgedly saying a word to Evra. I see Robin on...I think it's Game. Batman Beyond is...well...Batman set in the future, with Bruce Wayne mentoring a younger man, Terry McGuiness or something. Pretty good cartoon I hear.

With that in mind I still have the impression that Robert Pires was the best ever diver in the Premier League. I still can't get how he managed to win that penalty against Portsmouth out of my mind; saved Arsenal from losing that season to get the Invincibles tag.

I do recall some of that now; sort of slipped my mind. I just think that Ferguson would have been able to shut him up about that sort of stuff. Anyway...I'm sure Tevez will price himself out of any move at this rate; unless there is a team with more money than sense.

From this article (a bit old), it suggests that Celtic will play as they should; but that UEFA would have to somehow accommodate Sion should they win their case at CAS. But if CAS allows it, then they are setting a very dodgy precedent for the running of a sport. How about a team put a 12th player on the pitch just because they fancy it, or because the manager can't rotate their players effectively.

Yep. That's mockery. Do remember when Nani was doing little tricks and flicks against Arsenal in one of the cup competitions and he was criticized for it? I think it's also disrespectful to a team if they get beaten by six goals; that just shouldn't be allowed in football. Teams should share the ball nicely, and give each other the opportunities of goal scoring chances. Also, it should be mandatory that a goalkeeper should let in a certain number of goals in a game, to be decided beforehand so it is fair to the teams involved, and that penalty takers must let goalkeepers save at least one penalty so they do not look bad and thus save face. And every team in the league should share the trophy at the end of the season, because sharing is good.

Er...so...it's wrong that de Gea took the cheap option for him? Riiiight. Well...there was also that case about an unpaid doughnut a few weeks ago I think. Seems like de Gea is financially sound anyway. More than I can say for some people I know....

Robin is (or was) available in the UK if you pre-ordered with GAME. However there are so many more bonus content from other retailers in different countries that it does get a tad confusing, eagerly awaiting my copy though.

Gerrard getting his MOTM award and the fact that he's been talked up as Liverpool's best current player still. Any Liverpool fan saying there's conspiracies actually need to realize a lot of undue praise tends to go to their club, despite them still performing atrociously.

This Tevez saga is going to drag on a fair bit, I mean the guy's a natural born attention seeker so a part of him is loving it right now because you've got clubs who were silent up until now, apparently wanting him to play for their club.

Yeah Owen played the Leeds game and I think he came on as an early sub when Hernandez got injured in the Stoke game.

Regarding the Europa League, I've heard Sion would get re-introduced to the competition and without expelling Celtic so you'd have a very awkward 5-team group with like 8 extra games to play in that group alone. I don't see it happening if Sion do get a successful appeal, but yeah could get messy.

There's been further talk of bringing Celtic and Rangers to the PL again over the last month or so, which always amazes me because such a proposal would mean re-structuring the whole Premier League, Championship etc. Not to mention I doubt they're both capable of doing well over here anyway and they're not really in demand to play with the PL teams so why bother?

Another thing regarding the structure of the League system, the foreign owners of the Premier League clubs now apparently want to make a vote in regards to scrapping the relegation and promotion system, funnily enough I think Blackburn's owners have been pro-active in this statement. And it speaks volumes for a club to not want relegation in place, knowing they'd stand a good chance of falling so decide to try and change the rules.

I have a funny image of Druss' mates all spying on Utd footballers whenever they travel or do anything in public and to intervene in case anything embarrassing happens. And If I were De Gea I'd be disgusted for flying with Easyjet, don't think he realizes who Easyjet are. lol

Also, Rangers and Celtic supporters have suggested the argument that if they were in the Premier League with the financial benefits of Premier League teams, then they'd be challenging at the top every season. Prior to the huge injections of foreign money as it were, the top teams were top due to years of hard graft and sustained success. It almost seems that they expect success to be handed to them.

The thought that foreign investores want a franchise model like they have in the States? Don't know enough there, but...dodgy. I think Rangers and Celtic will never get into the PL. How do they fit them in? Should they go straight into the PL ahead of Championship teams? If they do go straight in then what happens to promoted teams? Does it go back up to 22 teams or do they deny promoted teams entry then what happens with the follow on on down the leagues with promotion? They would be mid table at best anyway. Plus theres the sectarian problems that will probably get worse with Celtic facing English teams.

I laughed at that relegation thing when I heard it. The FA wouldn't actually allow it, they have the right to refuse or a super vote or something like that. All the foreign owners seem to have come out and denied it was them who said it too which is a bit odd. Maybe another case of "bloody foreigners?"

A lot of the exclusive content doesn't really interest me anyway, I'm not the biggest Batman fan so a lot of stuff I'm not familiar with (mostly just costumes). Main reason I'm getting this game is based on the fact that it looks like a really good game and one that I'll be playing for a while hopefully.

If I were Sion I'd probably hope for a berth to next years competition or something, I mean they'd be up against Atletico and Udinese so their chances would be slim at best.

De Gea stole a crispy creme doughnut from a Tesco, ate it and tried to leave without saying anything. This is what happens when newspapers run out of interesting stories to put on their front pages...

I can't see either team enter the PL either, I doubt the Scottish FA would let them anyway. I remember the outrage that year when they wanted to go from 22 teams to 20, weren't 4 teams relegated and only 2 got promoted? Only way I could see it happening is if they started at the bottom which I doubt will happen either way.

Yeah just seen another article in regards to relegation, I imagine this is another story that will be repeated every so often because it's clear clubs are wanting this purely because they don't want to miss out on the money they get from TV deals every year/season.

A time ago when I used to play football during college, I'd tend to get put in net as goalkeeper anyway I had a lucky run where I'd saved about 4-5 shots on the bounce and one of the guys from the opposite team who was shooting the ball came up to me and shouted "just let me f***ing score will ya!" and didn't like me saving a couple of his shots. In the end I swapped positions with a defender and made an effort to to cut this guy down with tackles to ****** him off even more....

...so sour grapes indeed.

The only way the SPL teams would end up in England is if the SPL completely collapses and they have no choice.

I think if no relegation ever came in then it would be the death of the PL and every other top flight in Europe if they followed suit.

Some people just shouldn't be allowed to play sports with others. I think the worst I've come across was a guy who played on the same team as me and felt that if there was a crowd then he needed to be taking every set play including goalkicks.

Elite development thing is basically the PL stealing young players from the Football League without having to pay for them from what I've gathered.

The last time that debate/suggestion of letting Rangers and Celtic into the English leagues someone suggested that if they want to they could start in the conference. In that respect it might be fair to the vast majority of teams.

The 'no relegation' idea is very much about money. It could well be a 'foreigner' thing, especially if they don't understand the nature of the football business. Honestly, how many clubs actually are without debt and turn in a profit year after year?

"When I were a lad" playing footy at school I would be one of those sad ones who were always picked last and played in defence. Yep. I'm one of them. Funnily enough though I was a pretty decent defender. I remember tackling and taking the ball away from our school striker cleanly, and he started complain. His complaint: "He just stands there!" In which case our school striker couldn't even get past someone who couldn't even be bothered to move. My contribution to the sour grapes thing.

That's pretty much it about this plan from what I can tell. Basically the rich clubs would refuse current funding for grass roots or somesuch if they don't have it their way, essentially forcing the lower league teams to part with their players on the cheap (as well as preventing them from getting any outstanding talent too early as well).

I've played for about 6 hours and despite it taking a bit of getting used to for me, it seems to actually be living up to the hype.

What exactly has happened with this Tevez fiasco? I'm baffled. City have now charged him with refusing to warm up instead of refusing to play. Whats the difference? He's not going to play if he hasn't warmed up were my thoughts. Until I read Tevez' defence. He has changed his story again! This time he was already warmed up and felt it unnecessary to warm up again. Despite saying on tv that he refused to play! F*ckin hell.

I will never look at De Gea in the same way again, I'm even more convinced he is a hobo now.

Ah but does the Conference get explanded for them or do a couple of teams miss out? Has this happened anywhere else in Europe? Would it not threaten the seperate identities of the British teams?

Ah I've been there. I was picked last once or twice in school, was picked first a fair few times too. No one ever learned to accept my randomness. The simple things are often beyond me, the ridiculous was my forte. Standing still could revolutionise defending. It might baffle people like Messi, used to turning defenders inside out. Was a guy who played 5-a-side with us who was a bit like that, I couldn't deal with him at all. We called him The Wall.

Probably expanded would be my guess. Actually the whole Olympic thing would be an interesting discussion itself. Pearce is in charge and he wants to be able to choose who he wants. Fair enough as far as I'm concerned. I'm pretty sure that there's a limit on how many players over a certain age can represent their country though. Now...given the usual stuff...anyone reckon that Beckham will be a part of it?

It's all weighted to the richer clubs it would seem. Academies will now be graded and compensation will depend on the club's academy grade and how long the player is there I think. It basically limits how much a young player will cost, and becomes a pittance to the big clubs. It is supposed to restrict clubs from hoarding talent. Alledgedly. I just don't see that happening. I would like to see this deflate the English premium though, but that would be wishful thinking on my part though.

Perversely Arkham City is not only an utterly fantastic Batman game but the Catwoman sections are the best Spiderman game I've ever played. Game of the year so far for me, even better than Deus Ex.

If they don't come down heavy on Tevez then isn't that them taking sides against Mancini? Redknapp says he wants Tevez. Thats a bloody nightmare match made in the pit of hell itself.

Nah that was just while entering a tournament. The Wall's name was Wallace so it worked out even better, Wally the Wall. Most people get out of the way when I'm shooting, the Wall just took because he is a legend.

The Norwich game was very open. Norwich seemed intent on attacking and I enjoyed Pilkington's cross for the goal. Suarez misses the target an awful lot. He is great at wriggling in to get chances but then puts them wide.

Nothing Redknapp Jnr. just said in the build up the Manchester derby made any sense. Its like he is just trying to get out as many words as quickly as possible in the hope they make sense.

That's the feeling I get. Though it seems that the downgrading itself is a form of middle ground for all. It does seem that Mancini is being backed, and if the board is backing him then they shouldn't interfere with his team selection decisions. Also laughable that Tevez claims his human rights have been violated in association with this case. It's somewhat cheapened what 'human rights' should mean and apply to.

The age thing sounds about right. We should expect a team of up and coming youngsters which I would assume Pearce would most likely draw from the under-21 teams if he were able. A bit contentious in terms of manager choice perhaps, but also the most natural in a sense. I read Ferguson declined to manage the GB team, now that would have been something.

I'm guessing the contracts for the funding towards the lower leagues were nearing the end, so a new contract had to be drawn. With that the richer clubs could bargain for a more favourable position.

Yeah, it was. We gave a good account of ourselves in that match and with Holt scoring it made things even more interesting. Had a decent chance for a second; a bit more luck we could have nicked that game. Suarez was really good in that game, making those spaces, running and tricking his way into position. Regardless of Evra's accusation Suarez is quite a player. Funny that Dalglish is sort of demanding referees to do more for his team as it were in the form of requesting more protection for Suarez. I didn't see anything untoward in that match in the highlights, and his being protected would have done nothing for his wastefulness in front of goal. Had Suarez actually hit the target more, then Norwich would likely be dead and buried in that game. An interesting way for Dalglish to hide Suarez's shortcomings in that game though. Dalglish needs to get Suarez practicing shooting in training now; there's no point in creating that many chances for yourself if you can't put the ball in the back of the net. Is Ian Rush still a coach at Liverpool? If he is he really needs to put Suarez through his paces.

On that though, the score for that was surprising. Before that game one might think that Man City might be thereabouts at the end of the season, but after that though...well...looks like things will be far closer than most would have thought. At least from this single result. Now awaiting for highlights. Wait...just saw that Evans was sent off, that certainly swung things in Man City's favour then.

Yesterday's games were pretty good too. Wolves had their own little comeback to take a point against Swansea; just when you'd have thought Wolves were down and out.

I shall have to keep this short as my rage levels are reaching extreme levels. What the f*ck was Evans doing? It was unbelievable. At the edge of the box Balotelli goes past him and instead of continuing his run and trying to make up for it he just stops and grabs Balotelli's arm. He didn't even try to hide it. He just stopped and grabbed him like he had decided to stop playing. Its one of the stupidest acts I've ever seen. Theres absolutely no defence for it. The game was over from that minute on. Anderson was a lucky boy too.

United fans are annoying me more than City fans right now. Apparently if Phil Jones had played the league would be over and United would be champions.

Chelsea are down to 9 men against QPR. Didn't see the sendings off though.
