Indeed, I think being in and out of the team isn't helping Torres either. I saw City and Chelsea linked with that Erikson kid thats playing for Ajax today, I'd think they both already have enough players in that position.

Erikson is a good player but this season he plays on the wrong position. Last season he played more at the 10 and was the revelations of the Eredivisie but this year Ajax got Janssen from Twente, who also playes that position, and Erikson got pushed to the sides where he plays a lot worse than he did last year..

But not just him but Ajax itself plays really bad here, in the Champions League they showed that they can play good but here they first tied to Feyenoord (which is really bad since Feyenoord is but a shim of what they used to be) and last weekend they lost 6-4 (Yes, 6-4) against Utrecht, the number 13 atm. In the ranking they are 5th, already 11 points behind the nr 1 (AZ) and 5 behind Twente and PSV. (and we have our own little Man. City, Vite$$e 4th..)

Exactly what I was thinking Kimo. Any time I've seen him play he has looked like a behind the strikers kind of player but City have Silva/Nasri/Johnson and Chelsea have Mata taking up those positions. Erikson would probably end up on the wing there too. They talked of £30m for him. How many games have been played so far?

Overspending on mediocre players seems to be a Liverpool theme, then convincing themselves that said players are world class is the second step. Buying young English players seems for massive prices seems a tad foolhardy when English players tend to be limited.

The problem is that somewhere in the WWE theres someone in power convinced that these Diva matches are what people want to see. Sometimes I watch them just to make myself feel like less of a failure in comparison.

Evans is 23 I believe. Carragher was never that good, overrated because he is Scouse and gets away with blue murder.

Taylor scored a freekick earlier in the season if I remember right, he may have scored more.

Be interesting to see what happens with Newcastle when they finally lose or pick up a few injuries. Their squad doesn't have alot of depth their goals for the season must have been avoid relegation and they have almost acheived that already.

Bah bloody international break again getting in the way of football.

I caught a bit of the MLS play-offs the other night it was kind of awful and confusing. Why were the New York Red Bulls playing in the Western Conference semi-finals? New York is on the East Coast isn't it?

That was one of the annoying things about the summer transfer especially in August, where there were 'surprise announcements' of yet another midfielder signing for City or Chelsea (and Liverpool too now that I think on it). I just hope United have been assessing their options and realize that we could do with a new game-changer in midfield and not just try and rely on putting Rooney in there.

In a league which is somehow dominated by foreign players (this is my stance on it, and is something I actually enjoy about the game) I think certain clubs who already tend to have a varied squad like the aforementioned will buy a young English lad regardless of whether they're outstanding or just 'a bit good', pay anywhere between £10 and £30 million for them and highlighting that they're that price because they're English and feature them in the squad like they're a solid England international after playing like 2 games in the qualifiers. Not sure if that's the FA's agenda or just promotion, anyway rant over.

The 'divas' they have there have been with the company 3-4 years, perform in the ring week in, week out and still can't wrestle (I could say the same for the male stars too I guess) and yet they think it still makes good TV?

Evans may well have a long and eventful career with United, as long as he doesn't get injured as often as all the other of our defenders seem to do lately then he will get consistent performances and will only continue to improve from here on in.

Taylor's goal was a beauty.

I see Newcastle finishing around 7th or 8th this season, though that's not to say they won't have an inconsistent season. I can expect after a draw and two losses in a row that fans will suddenly start laying into Pardew and Ashley again, though they don't have that much of an impressive squad to be honest and we might just see that dip sometime in December or January.

Well after this break we don't get another break during December or do we? Plus I'm pretty sure Sky announced some extra matches to be shown during the festive period too, so really uninterrupted football to look forward maybe.

I still remember that Huckerby interview so I can never really take MLS that seriously to be honest, that and some of the crowds look like they don't give a ****.

Certain clubs will always be linked with players whether it is true or not; all part and parcel of the transfer game and agent machinations.

The English premium as it were, which extends far beyond the price tag of the player for it also includes reputation and ability. I think the home-grown rule will likely factor into it as well to an extent, as clubs now can't rely solely on foreign imports as it were. Shoddy memory suggests that Bolton was the first team to field a non-English starting 11; and the thought of having more home-grown players is to supposed to bolster the chances of the national team.

At least they're good for that then, Druss. I get the feeling it might not necessarily be a good TV thing but to somehow balance out the amount of testosterone on the show. Most of them...well...in terms of wrestling ability it's a bit harder to say. Matches are a lot shorter now, and for most it boils down to their signature moves and that's it; Randy Orton and John Cena come to mind. I remember from an interview Chris Jericho makes a mention that due to the change in pro-wrestling lacking the old territories that most don't get the experience the older generation got, so the product becomes lacking as a result. The good wrestlers are those that weren't schooled by WWE; Daniel Bryan (or Bryan Danielson), CM Punk and Alberto del Rio are probably the best wrestlers on the roster. Matches lack variety as they don't get to showcase their skills; but this might also be due to the shift in emphasis on (shoddy) drama/storylines and the sidelining of the wrestling. Divas lack both for the vast majority; most don't have the skills and the stories are abysmal.

Evans has shown potential in the past. The question for fans is when that potential changes into ability. Anderson is one who threatens to become really good rather than show signs of potential I think. Nani...I have to admit I've been quietly impressed (rather than being loudly impressed) by his more consistent form after Ronaldo's departure; interesting how that came about.

Depending how Newcastle fare against the top of the table clubs, it seems realistic for them to at least go for a Europa League place. They have a good team but squad quality is a concern as you both point out; then we'll find out what sort of funds Pardew has at his disposal come the January transfer window.

Sort of hoping this is the last international break for the year, at least that's what I thought. Christmas is always a busy time for the domestic game so I can't really see how an international can be put in. You think they'll ever get rid of the friendlies and replace a few of them with just a training camp?

My sense of geography is awful, so I've no idea. Plus...not surprised about the crowd to an extent. After all they still call it 'soccer' rather than 'football' thus denying the MLS any credibility. *Cough*

Oh...more 'slave' allegations, and breaking of FA rules of conduct. Should be an interesting news week footy-wise.

I always find those transfer rumours with no logic puzzling, do they not think them through before making them up?

I can't wrap my head around the English premium at all, by some accounts English players are less technical and professional than continental players. 99% of them offer nothing more than being English and not having to adjust to the league.

I caught a bit of Raw last night from Liverpool, there was an amusing silence when Kelly Kelly came out. Maryse was by far the worst, she could literally do no moves yet was champion. She has been fired now though. I agree with all your points there OBaka, I think the women might be there to make it seem less "gay" you know justifying watching oiled up men in underpants having a cuddle. Most of RAW seems focused on a similar message with all the stats and facts "RAW had more viewers last week than American Idol." "RAW has more episodes than any other weekly show ever" Ignoring the fact that most weekly shows are seasonal so they take breaks. Its like comparing the News at 6 to Friends. Its like they are trying to convince people its ok to watch it. I liked last night when they pointed out that John Cena has more facebook followers than the Dalai Lama, does anyone care? Anyone in the world? Does John Cena even care? They now give twitter and facebook info when a wrestler comes out. The commentators are just there to sell things, last night they tried to push the WWE12 game that King called the best game he has ever seen, it honestly looked like a ps2 game. Raw is basically 2 hours of advertising.

Evans is still young for a CB. Anderson was great for the first few games of the season but has really gone off the boil, he did want to leave at one point so I wonder about his commitment. Nani is at times our best player, at other times he is a waste of space. I used to hate him to be honest but he has come on leaps and bounds.

I'd say that no matter what happens Newcastle now their season will probably be a success. Unless they sell key players again in January and become hilarious again.

I think its the last one until Febuary or March but it doesn't make it less galling. Friendlies to me don't really prove anything, its not like theres any pressure. Can't see it becoming a training camp though while theres money to be made on matches.

American crowds are used to watching sports where nothing happens so its not all that surprising.

Who broke the rules of conduct?

This poppy thing is getting ridiculous. I understand what its for and all but the FA, SSN and the sports media(England as a whole if SSN are to be believed) can't seem to grasp that if they get special treatment and are allowed to wear a symbol then everyone else has to be allowed to wear one too. Its just pigheadedness in refusing to accept that.

Now Suarez is admitting he said something while using the defence that everyone else was saying it. Hhmmm...odd...

Transfer gossip doesn't need to follow logic. I've heard that Man City want to sign a defender of the faith....*cough*

Tis the silliest thing really; makes me wonder if other countries have an equivalent or is it just us.

From clips on YouTube of Raw broadcasts the commentators are there to sell something. Pretty sure their job description also includes sales pitches. Mind you, I'm under the impression that it's an American thing. And they are proud to announce that Raw is such-and-such with alarming regularity. Haven't picked up any of the games for quite a few years now; the controls are a bit fiddly last time I played; much preferred the target button on the shoulder buttons and being to retarget when even on the mat rather than having to be standing.

Will be interesting to see whether they find the consistency needed to be a good player. Same goes for all others really.

We haven't had Natt's input on Newcastle for a while. They aren't much of a laughing stock at the moment and given their fixtures they have done well. Depending on their financial aims January will be a crunch time for them, if they can buy rather than sell this season could be thought of as an unqualified success...well...waiting until the end of the season of course.

I wanted to make a mention of cheerleaders but forgot my point with respect to Americans and sports....

Suarez. Apparently no-one is supposed to comment about cases being investigated, but he has. (Note A. Ferdinand's silence on the case he's involved in.) And...his defence is odd. "But they're all doing it!" So if everyone jumps off a cliff.....

Yeah, looks like the FA isn't too keen to let it rest though I read that FIFA has rejected their plea again. FIFA can't allow this to set a precedent otherwise they'll all be doing it. Also impractical but I'm thinking of the pin. Interesting to read what FIFA stated on the matter as that regards political, religious or commercial messages. Er...I am now puzzled. Firstly that seems to suggest that the logos of sponsors aren't a commercial message; and secondly, which category does the poppy fall under? Head's not working today....

Defender of the faith? I'm sorry to say I don't get it lol.

I'd say they probably do.

Yeah alot of American sport is like that but WWE seem to be trying to blur the line between advertisement and entertainment. Wouldn't be surprised to see wrestlers being sponsored by brands "Beth Phoenix brought to you by Tampax." "Wriggley's Extra, the official gum of CM Punk".

I reckon Natt has gone to live outside St. James Park as a topless, jobless, half drunk Geordie while times are good. Stumbling around chanting "Sheeeeaaarer" at no one in particular.

I reckon Suarez has done himself there, really stupid thing to say.

The poppy thing is still rumbling on. Even that prime minister fella has joined in, yet again sticking his nose into football. "Its a disgrace their rules won't bend any time we demand it!!" Club teams can wear them but international teams can't, I think. I believe thats why international teams have no sponsors, tis against the rules of FIFA. They don't want any emblems of any sort because it will open a can of worms.

Cappello is missing his sons wedding for this stupid friendly. He must be raging.

Tevez never ceases to amaze. Now he has gone AWOL and fled back to Argentina after accepting his punishment. His reasons ofcourse being family again, will it never end?

Well....random thought and all that. But typically the King/Queen is 'Defender of the Faith'....some sort of half-baked attempt at humour....

At least it wouldn't just be us then; only if that's true though.

I read that CM Punk endorsed a pizza....then there's the whole ice-cream bar thing as well. Still...would be amusing. Didn't Subway get onto Raw a while ago before the Miz teamed with R-Truth? That almost looked like an angle at the time.

Would be quite a sight I would imagine. Actually.....

It's like an admission really. The thing is...it might not work for other people outside that group. My standard example would be the line in Rush Hour 2 that Chris Tucker says to the guard and Jackie Chan repeating the exact same words. One is self-empowering, the other offensive (or deemed to be offensive). Suarez needs to understand that language doesn't quite work the way we might imagine it to.

Looks like he has as well. *Sigh* And yeah, that makes more sense now. Clubs being governed by their respective FAs and stuff. I can only guess that FIFA considers the poppy to be a political symbol then under their rules, it can't be religious or commercial really; and even then I don't really see it as political....

That's poor timing then. Also...it's a game where England will be thrashed. I read that Spain have a full strength squad, and seeing our best players can't do much against them....

It will end when he is no longer in existence I imagine. Can't believe it really, but it is Tevez. So this is the actions of a person who knows what it is to be professional; hate to see someone who isn't then.

Haha. I think I prefered the meat jokes...

Again we need to find some foreigners to question. They are never around when you need them, then two come along at once. Or is that something else?

I heard that subway guy was on before and he is the star of their commercials in the US or something.

*Tries to forget the Rush Hour films* I wonder how that defence will go down...

Its got beyond embarrassing now. Protestors on FIFA's roof, David Cameron interfering again by writing to them when FIFA don't want politics getting involved in football, one of them Prince fella's getting involved, ex-FA members coming out saying they should wear them anyway and its FIFA being anti-English. After all this if FIFA were anti-English could you f*cking blame them? The problems here are all one sided and FIFA aren't the side with the problem. Its not political really but in other countries the army can be seen as political will FIFA let some countries wear things like that and some not? Its something they just can't do.

The worst thing that could possibly happen is England win, we will never hear the end of it. A thrashing is another stick to beat Cappello with "He should have seen our failure coming ever since the Spain game last November."

Tevez has hired a PR man to go on SSN and defend him. Fun job. He is happy in England now that his family are there and he will will consider a move to another English team, except when they apparently aren't there and become an excuse for him to go awol. I wonder how they feel about being his constant excuse. Even the PFA have more or less said this one is indefensible. You know some concocted story about a dying relative or something is coming soon.

Speaking of embarrassing things, Warnock would need to climb out of 'Arry's arse and stop talking about what it takes to be England manager.

Oh, that should now be the Sportsdirect.com Arena and not St. James' Park...£10m for naming rights. Man City get £400m and say its all above board? Hhmmm.

Dalglish claiming its a disgrace the team he has spent £110m on in the last year has to play two games in 3 days. But it was ok when other teams had to do it? £110m not enough to build a decent squad these days? When Sir Alex complained about it he got laughed at for claiming tv has too much say, but its agreeable when Dalglish says it?

It seems Kean is being given a new contract too. Hmmmm...

And FIFA have been "defeated" after they allowed England to wear poppies on their armbands. Seems like a "Here take this, shut up and go away!" gesture. Although if I was in FIFA I'd have never backed down at all and infact threatened England with expulsion the moment Cameron and the rest of them got involved. Its only encouraging politicians to stick their nose in more, what happens if other countries politician start sticking their noses in? What kind of position are FIFA in now that they let him get involved?

That will take time to get used to. Quite frankly though, I think most of us will stick to St. James' Park as it sounds better.

Well...it's OK because it's King Kenny. Probably. In the minds of some people. Logic has no place for such things. At least he hasn't started to stick 'fact' after his opinions....

Those must be some mighty meaty seminars he's serving up in India; improving his cut as well. Hm...

Was surprised to hear that news last night I think. So...can we expect a can of worms to opened now? I agree it does seem very much to be a 'shut up' gesture, but FIFA got the short end of the stick in that one. Not a good example to set.

There seems to be something going on between Warnock and ole 'Arry of late especially when it comes to the England job as well. Suspicious.....

Oh...will be interested to see what else the PFA can come up with regarding Tevez beyond just 'disappointing'. How far will they back up someone who has acted in such an unprofessional manner?

Apparently the money will go to buying a new player. Where have we heard that before?

I wonder how much longer Kenny will last, he has quit teams before because he couldn't handle the pressure, isn't that why he left Blackburn? Judging by his interviews, press conferences, overpriced signings and wild claims he seems to be coming apart.

Its a mystery. A mighty meaty mystery. He must be quite the butcher.

Well I wouldn't expect it to happen right away but by bowing to political pressure even slightly FIFA's position has been weakened on a couple of fronts I'd say. The first two quotes in quotes of the week sum it the stupidity of the whole thing rather nicely...http://www.football3...2139/The-Quotes

Thats a frightening image, it will haunt me forever... I wonder what Warnock's game is though. Is he just kissing the arse of the media and their darling?

I'm sure they will find some way to defend the indefensible.

Don't know....sense of deja vu.....hm..... Mind you, since he's using his own company first as a sort of demonstration I wonder how they'll try to spin that as a selling point to companies. Point to increased profits of the sponsoring company since the renaming of the stadium?

Time to sit back and reach for the popcorn or other snacks you think, Druss?

My old man thinks he's a fishmonger, so Bob would have the fish and meat department sewn up. If the thought that he is a yes man for Venky's then he knows his plaice. *Walks towards the exit*

One very sensible quote and the other from 'Arry. That really does sum it all up.

Sorry about the image. It just struck me as odd with how they were pushing for the England job though, and if it wasn't themselves.... It could well be that, maybe Warnock fancies some column inches himself and is doing some buttering up.... Er.....never mind.

Gordon Taylor at least realizes that that is how some (most I would hope) see how the PFA is acting on Tevez's behalf. I would have to wonder if this is just going to rumble on until some silly club decide to 'give him a chance'.

Incorrect. The correct answer was promising to spend the Carroll money all on new players. Not sure how they will spin it though, its kind of admitting that no one else wants it when you sponsor it yourself which I imagine is not the best of advertisements. *CoughManCityCough*

I reckon it might be, OBaka. I dunno but to me he seems to be starting to creak, the way things are going I'd be surprised if he is still there next season. Just my gut feeling.

Why does your dad think he is a fishmonger? And how far has he gone with this fantasy, does he keep trout in the freezer? *I'll get me coat* I suspect the new contract is just a gesture to take some of the pressure off Bob and the players a bit, showing solidarity in the face of protests. Its all good when the protestors are buying tickets, but what happens when they stop? Will the new contract prevent them from firing him because of having to give him a big pay off? It is a bit fishy.

Is it any wonder the media love 'Arry?

Is Warnock pushing for the job too? I've not read everything he said but what I have seen has been him putting Redknapp forward for it. Its a bizarre situation indeed. Its distinctly possible that he just likes to hear himself talk.

Whats Taylor said? I heard a small bit on SSN where he said Tevez' position is untennable but he is very hard to listen to for any length of time.

*Clears throat* D'Oh!

Hm...popcorn. Maybe we should stock up. Dalglish certainly seems angry this season; maybe he realizes the players just aren't up to the task.

He has that sort of look, and I still suspect something was fishy about Alladyce's sacking. *Cough* Or perhaps fishmongers around here tend to look a bit like Bob. I think he fits either, though being a butcher makes more sense with the Venky's connection. I would speculate that maybe Venky's could have offered a new contract with improved terms but added a clause so he can't claim for compensation if he's fired; that would make more financial sense to me. Bob needs a rack of decent results otherwise it could be chop chop for him.

Yep. Keeps them in a job. Come to think of it, it's probably why they love him. See...he continues to give them stuff even when he isn't working.

I think he was, though in a more negative manner. He made comments about how he would do things differently to Capello, that he has a sense of humour and understands the players better, and people would be split half and half on him being manager. Sounded like he threw his hat in there to be considered. Also...that's entirely possible too.

He's making more sense now, saying that it seems that they were trying to defend the indefensible; and that he had hoped after Tevez accepted his punishment that it would be an end to the matter so he can build bridges again...except he has gone and burnt them instead with his going AWOL. Taylor can't see the matter ending amicably as a result, and it seems that Tevez is trying to engineer a move. (Not in those words, but that's what's inferred from what he said.) Luckily (?) I don't think I've heard him speak, I only read about it.

That does remind me though...I had the misfortune to catch that Mourinho shaver advert mentioned a while back.....

Dalglish realises he has wasted an awful lot of money and probably won't achieve CL football with the team he has so is doing everything in his power to deflect attention from it. Some Liverpool fans wanted Benitez, some wanted Dalglish. He is pleasing them all.

I wonder if we will ever get the truth of what happened in the Allardyce sacking. I was speculating that myself about Bobs contract but something tells me theres probably a rule against it or something.

Because he is a rent a quote? With the quotes Redknapp has made about foreigners over the years anyone else would be called xenophobic.

That was the odd thing about Warnocks comments to me, when he went on about sense of humour, at the end he said thats why 'Arry would be perfect because he gets the extra 20% from players. Unless I'm mixing two quotes together or something.

Just read the comments by Taylor, he is much more tolerable in print. Also read that Tevez tried to contact Mancini and got no reply so he left the country anyway. That somehow makes it all ok? If thats true (which is debatable with Tevez) why would Mancini bother speaking to him when he is refusing to apologise and continuing to be a b*tch? Why would he even bother answering his stupid question of "Can I've a holiday now?"

Did it kind of make you wish you were dead? Thats how I feel every time I see it. It falls under my new rule that if your commercial annoys me, then I won't buy your product.

So glad I didn't head out for the Ireland match. My Leeds mate is managing to annoy an entire bar apparently. He didn't care at all about Ireland until tonight and now its all we and us and going on screaming about finally getting "justice" for the Henry handball. He knows so little about football that he can't get his head around the fact that its a game to decide which team gets to make up the numbers next summer.

It's highly likely that Liverpool won't get into the Champions League for next season at this rate; home draws against lesser teams (one of them being me Norwich), I'm surprised we haven't had calls for his head or something. Mind you it is Dalglish. It is puzzling why Carroll was brought in though given how the team seems to be set up. For a squad player it's probably OK to have someone like Carroll there, but the price they paid...well...who can really blame Ashley for taking that amount? Especially since Carroll didn't exactly have a well established reputation in the Premier League.

Unlikely, unless he knows what actually happened and releases an autobiography or something. I'm thinking it's also just speculation on his part as well. It's also interesting to note that apparently Venky's has released a statement that Bob has not signed a new contract yet....which seems to imply that one was indeed offered. Still...an apparently odd move. What if Venky's truly believe he can turn it around?

Been a while since the love-in (so to speak), though there were times that Warnock was pointing out the benefits of an English manager. Wouldn't surprise me if something like that was mentioned...quantifying effort now.....

Perhaps we should label such a disposition as doing an 'Arry.

Yeah, apparently Tevez did try to contact Mancini. But he was given explicit instructions to go train on Wednesday and basically decided that he wasn't going to, at least that's how it seems. The thing is, in one article it suggests that his family went back to Argentina at the beginning of this latest kerfuffle. As much as I dislike Tevez what sort of wife abandons their husband who is supposed to be going through a difficult time? That is of course assuming that Tevez actually believes his version (heavily edited after a few press rounds) of the story. Also...I think Corinthians have again dropped their interest in Tevez (supposedly unless it's another one of these transfer saga machinations).

Luckily I averted my eyes away from witnessing too much of it. But still feel like a part of my soul has been lost forever. That's always a good rule to go by. I'm sure we could probably start a thread about annoying commercials which actually make you want to avoid the product, maybe that sort of thread might snowball.....

Annoy an entire bar? Sounds like that takes some doing.

I think Carroll was just a panic buy, plain and simple. If he cost around £10m then you could say he is a decent signing for the future but at that price? Bloody hell. Dalglish to be gone by next season, you heard it here.

Hhmmm the complications. If they do believe that then the fit and proper persons test needs brought up again.

Thats still giving me bad images...

I second that motion.

Thats a different tale from the one I heard, I got the Tevez version where he wasn't told anything. Unsurprising really.

Its another reason I refuse to have anything to do with Nintendo and their intelligence insults trying to mask their crap with celebrities? Would you seriously take dog care advice from the Saturdays? Those Va-VA Voom ads too, f*ckin hell. Its just celebrities poncing around followed by a car doing nothing.

Think pantomime mixed with someone on a soap pretending to watch football, making comments that have nothing to do with the action while other people are trying to concentrate on the match and generally going way over the top while displaying the fact he is faking it and doesn't like football.

Gary Neville is on that Sky One "comedy" sports quiz with Freddie Flintoff, Redkapp Jnr. and all. Its uncomfortable...

*Picks up popcorn*

Seeing that the fit and proper persons test can't even establish whether said person even has the finances available I would doubt their ability to discern their mental capabilities.

Look! Women! Naked! (I'm sure some can be found somewhere....)

Slight differences in stories again it seems. Doesn't seem to surprise me with stories connected to Tevez. Have you seen the one where Man City had told him to get in touch and he hasn't responded? What will he do next? Or won't do is probably more appropriate come to think of it.

Last Nintendo console I had was a GameCube, back when I could afford stuff. Haven't got any since. The only celebrity ad of theirs which I can appreciate is the one with Robin Williams and his daughter. Hm...the Va-va-voom...I recall that. It also reminds me of the buttock shake ones afterwards too for some reason.

Hm...have they ever had Gary Neville and Redknapp Jr on at the same time?

Oh...and er....England won their game against Spain. We're never going to hear the end of that, are we?

EDIT: found this to be quite amusing. Benitez would only consider a club management job if that club were challenging for top honours. That's something he hasn't really done in...how long?

I haven't heard anything new on Tevez in a couple of days actually. Will probably be quiet until after the internationals.

Same here. I can't even remember the Robin Williams ones, the ones with asking "normal people" for their opinions of the Wii aswell were pretty horrendous, obvious actors claiming to have Wii parties in the bar was a low point. Its like the WWE and their attempts to convince people they are socially acceptable and cool. The latest Va-Va-Voom one was the worst by a mile.

Its basically a complete rip off of They Think its Allover. Neville was on Redknapp's(team captain every week ofcourse) team. Its often painful to watch.

This is not going to be pretty. Mind you even if they lost the media would go mad with it. I only saw a bit of the first half and it was quite boring, went back to playing Skyrim and forgot about it.

Probably. Or Tevez's advisors will speak on his behalf or something.

I only ever recall the one by Robin Williams, but at least the connection is intimate as he named his daughter Zelda, so it's an understandable marketing move. The normal people type ads only work if genuine. Thankfully I have erased most traces from my memory.

Can't really understand WWE's need for social acceptance or relevance. It's entertainment; stick with it.

Had the feeling it was that sort of format; I was just wondering whether having them on at the same time might have spiced things up a bit given their team associations. Sounds like they even failed to take advantage of that.

That's also true (and it looks like it's started....). I saw the second half, and England gave a fairly solid outing defensively though still a lot of loose balls. Fabregas wasted a couple of good efforts. David Villa had a cracking shot hit the post. It seemed to me that Spain started to lose their composure a bit after Lampard scored; that was something I wasn't expecting. It's a friendly, but I think a lot of the younger players did OK. Have to wonder how they'll hold up in a competitive though. At least the game didn't put me off football, I'll say that much.

Next thing...wonder who will be the first manager to complain about pointless friendlies.....

EDIT: this is a thing of beauty.

They are burned into my memory. They used to send me into a rage thinking that Nintendo honestly thought people were that stupid, then they sold millions of Wii's. The world has been a dark place for me ever since.

I think its more Vince's obsession. He is a very strange man.

I couldn't watch it all but they annoyed the Neviller by trying to put a Liverpool top on him, he reacted tamely by just looking angry and throwing it away. I'd have set fire to the studio. Neville and Redknapp end up doing punditry on matches alot, like everyone else Neville sits looking like he is baffled/bored/trying not to laugh or hit Redknapp everytime the fool speaks.

Am I alone in finding Spain and Barcelona matches hard to watch? They play great football but I find it really boring alot of the time. Its hard to explain.

Depends on which manager needs to get an early excuse in. So obviously my money is on Dalglish. Suarez scored 4 for Uruguay. Which means he hit the target 4 times in one match, seems unusual from what I've seen of him.

Haha, very interesting read. Nice insight too. Its getting though where they can't say anything or it ends up being recorded and getting out.

Found this link in there. Colour me sceptical and the weasal has a FIFA rule on his side? Tevez can cancel his contract if he plays less that 10% of the matches? Seems like we would have heard about that one before now...

I think the casual market is here to stay, and with a slight shift to mobiles and stuff I don't think it will go away. Let's just hope that the home systems can survive such a change in the long run.

Probably. Or maybe he just thinks it's an alternative way to regain wrestling's heyday.

Be interesting if there was a scuffle, or handbags during one of those. That might be worth watching.

Too dominant at times perhaps? That can be boring on a certain level as the other team don't get to do much. An exciting match tends to involve both teams and end to end action. With Barcelona and Spain...well..with Spain the other day a lot of the possession seemed to be in midfield. Too much passing without attacking intent, or obvious attacking intent, can be boring.

Heard that van der Vaart got an injury; though will it be 'Arry as he's resting at the moment? And maybe Suarez will bring his shooting boots back to the league; I'm sure Dalglish would like that.

Twas funny I found. Honest as well which is a nice change from the sanitized versions of events that are released to the press. Imagine a wikileaks for football....

Hm...I can see they are trying to weasel out. Though depending how FIFA interpret things, as it seems to need their consent for this regulation to be used. I'm pretty sure that Man City could present the situation as Tevez's own doing, making it untenable for himself and forcing the club to not use him due to his actions. That Tevez has been found guilty of certain breaches of contract, one of which was refusing to warm up when requested to, only seems to point towards him not wanting to play or making himself unavailable to play. He has not been banished from the team either as Mancini has given him the opportunity to make amends by apologizing, if not for what Mancini originally claimed then at least for what he was found guilty of, but Tevez refuses to do so and consequently denies himself the possibility of playing.

Short version: it's all Tevez's fault.
