I see theres anti racism campaigners calling for the FA to throw the book at Liverpool for their reaction. Glaswegian vindaloo?
Benitez scares me when he pops up on SSN for he is always smiling which is not his normal behaviour.
It bares watching(is that even a phrase or am I so tired I'm imagining phrases?). Especially since Big Mick is often hilariously straight forward about such things.
That pic is just from the stumble backwards when Barton went head to head, it makes it look like he is diving but he's basically just stumbling backwards before walking away. Lambert had plenty to say about it in his press conference. Having seen more of the clip Barton also went in and attacked him with his moob first before going head to head, he really has no defence. Idiot.
Indeed, Chelsea now have to rely on Torres or Lukaku. Must be terrible falling back on around £70m worth of strikers that you don't consider good enough to start. Financial fairplay can't come soon enough. Newcastle apparently aren't going to sign a striker, but what if Ba gets injured during or just after the ACN?
I thought MotD counted it as over 100 yards but that makes no sense. It looked to be almost identical to Robinsons from what I recall, same area. The bounce was much further out though.
I was rather shocked by those rumours this morning of United being in for Lampard. First thought in my head was "Are the papers mental? A passenger on £100k a week that offers nothing other than shooting and forward runs is the last thing we need." Luckily Sir Alex dismissed it right away, odd we've not been linked with Ganso.
The Iron Gerbil is out doing his moaning about not being able to compete with Chelsea for signing players because of wages. Poor 'Arry, having that bloated squad of international players thrust upon him is really holding him back.

It seems the wider community in Europe are concerned about Liverpool's actions, well...one of the (or maybe the) chairman of the anti-racist organizations for football in Europe anyway. A few players here were vocal about Liverpool's stance as well. Liverpool's actions are there for all to see and people can make up their own minds whether they were right or wrong (hopefully with a fuller understanding with the FA's report being read); in my view, that would be damaging enough to Liverpool's reputation as it is.
May have been Newcastle actually. Probably just getting confused. I read about really strong curries in Britain, and curries in Glasgow or Newcastle were extreme.
Benitez...smiling? Maybe...medication?
He is a straight forward sort of guy. Thing is, I don't mind Big Mick's straight forward no-nonsense attitude whereas Warnock irritates me for some reason (even before this recent kerfuffle with Johnson).
I think I find the moob more offensive.
Maybe being 'the man' might restore Torres to his former glory. Would be interesting to see the financial fairplay rules actually tempering some of the excessive expenditure of some clubs. With respect to Ba...I would guess that Newcastle supporters hope that he doesn't get injured, and they'll be wondering if their club will get any investment.
Unfortunately I missed MOTD the night the showed that goal. Could have been a mistake. Also heard the goalie was out of position as well which didn't help; though they didn't have to lose the game even despite that.
Yeah, saw the Lampard rumours. Certainly different. Maybe someone will come up with the news that Man Utd are after de Jong.
Poor diddums. He's not the only one moaning about his squad though; Mancini is also lamenting not having enough players from what I read.

I could swear I replied to this...odd...
It seems Liverpool had another racist incident last night, an Oldham player was reduced to tears when someone in the crowd shouted racist abuse at him. I've never seen anyone reduced to tears by the crowd before. It's lead me to wonder if he would have got that upset no matter what kind of abuse he got or perhaps would he still have gotten as upset by the racist abuse if there hadn't been such a commotion about the whole Suarez thing? I'm not belittling him or anything I'm genuinely confused as I've seen/heard players taking ridiculous amounts of abuse and never once seen one reduced to tears before.
I dunno how people eat curry, it looks and smells unappetizing at best to me.
Haha funny you should say that, there was footage of reporters outside Benitez' house and he was bringing them out tea with a massive grin on his face. It looked to me like he was stoned off his face.
I usually like Warnock but he can be highly annoying at times, he tends to speak with an agenda 95% of the time.
I'd have taken a swing for him if he moobed me. They can blame whoever they want but its Barton's own fault for giving the ref the chance to make the decision.
Indeed, be interesting to see if Lukaku gets any sort of chance, AVB doesn't seem to favour youth much like his Portugese predecessor. Apparently Ba has a buy out clause in his contract of only £10m, could be interesting.
Having seen it again Howard looked like he was just inside his box, I thought he was further out for some reason. The keeper wasn't so much out of position as off his line, he had no real reason to be on his line though, I imagine he was out waiting to sweep up and flick ons. The bounce was crazy and theres no way he could have predicted it.
Now the rumour is Scholes is coming out of retirement. This is getting ridiculous, whats next? Phil Collins?
Ha the two biggest squads in the league complaining about lack of players. I have no sympathy for anyone complaining about losing players the the ACN either, they knew this would happen when they signed the players.
Edit: Scholes is on the bloody bench today! He is one of our greatest ever players but surely bringing him out of retirement at the age of 38 is a sign of absolute desparation. He has been frightening to watch for the last few seasons, always a sending off waiting to happen and with no Fletcher do we have anyone with the legs to support him? What does this say about Pogba and Morrison? He is one of my all time favourite players but I'm not happy about this at all. Also Carrick/Giggs against De Jong/Milner in the middle has me worried about being out worked today.

Probably a forum hiccup; happens at times. Annoying when it's a long post as well.
On loan from Norwich as well. He's young so perhaps he's yet to have faced such abuse and that was the first clear case where he heard it clearly. I wouldn't be crying myself in cases where it's just verbal; I'd be mad. Physical abuse is another matter though, in which case I'd try to leg it. We all react differently though, so I take it as something that was beyond his normal experience. Still...it's a bit worrying coming so soon after the Suarez incident though.
Don't mind it myself. Mind you, I find that certain foods need a context to be enjoyed properly. I'm just picky that way.
Tea? Hm...looking...suspicious..... If I were one of them reporters I'd be wary of the offerings....
I suspect he just has a voice I don't like to listen to. And when I do listen to him speak it's usually some form of 'rant' which probably doesn't endear me to him.
They haven't really brought many young players into the Chelsea squad. Sturridge is probably one of the youngest as far as I'm concerned. I guess there's a need for instant success which sort of limits the manager's willingness to blood young players into the squad. Did read that about Ba, so it will be a tense time for Newcastle.
Indeed it is. Also saw the interesting line about Barton giving up on Football Manager because the him in the game annoys him.....
Roy Keane. I was surprised when I saw Scholes come on in the FA Cup match today. And I agree that it does seem desperate on Ferguson's part. Scholes was really a shadow of his former self in the last few seasons, and today's game he seemed a bit sloppy as well (a lack of match fitness probably doesn't help). I'm wondering what is driving that desperation though. Is it a lack of funds? Or is it genuinely that the desired players are unobtainable at this moment in time? As you state it can't be good for the youngsters in the squad. It's not as if you have a veteran who is in the squad and provides you an option, like Henry back at Arsenal, Scholes came out of retirement which is a different prospect.
Yep. Let's see whose squad can handle the loss of players away on international duty.

I don't even know what I said so maybe I only imagined replying to it...
If he wasn't making his debut then chances are he's had abuse from the crowd before. Its a strange one. Although given the clubs aggressive stance on the whole Suarez thing, I think its unsurprising that an idiot or two got it into their head that the club backs their stupidity.
You won't have to listen to Warnock much longer, he's just been sacked.
I forgot about Sturridge, I suspect the rule about home grown players may bite them in the ass sooner or later. Maybe thats what Lukaku was signed for, he is still young enough to count as home grown I think.
The real Barton annoys me, wish I had the option to give up seeing his face everywhere.
Scholes picked up just where he left off, giving the ball away in dangerous positions. As soon as he came on I was fearing the worst, to be honest I've never been as disgusted by a United win. Not because of Scholes but because of the second half performance, nothing was learned from the CL exit and we are continually sloppy. I blame the experienced players starting with Ferdinand and Evra. Ferdinand really annoyed me today too playing a shocking pass "to Jones" that played Aguero clean through only for Smalling's pace to come to the rescue. He then turns round and starts screaming at Jones as if it was all his fault. That is not a good environment for young players, especially ones as raw as Jones.
I think we would have been well beat if not for that red card, which to be honest I'm not even convinced was a freekick. Although when on top we played very well, that second half performance has me worried as its the same old problems again. Good to see Smalling back atleast, it was nice to see Scholes spraying passes about but he needs to be able to do more than that.
Nani got booked and I've no idea why because ITV insisted on showing David Beckham watching the match that they were neglecting to show the rest of us. Sometimes I can't bloody wait for the apocalypse.

That sometimes happens as well.....
That's the worry about Liverpool's stance on the Suarez case; someone will grab the wrong end of the stick and assume that Liverpool actually support racial abuse. At first I thought it was just a case of abuse from what I read but now it seems to be as someone has been arrested.
Just read about that. Sort of surprised but then looking at the league table maybe I shouldn't have been. Warnock's position was questioned even back in the summer and it was claimed that he had the backing of the board who were initially somewhat silent about the whole issue. Same names coming up as potential replacements.
It's probably why Liverpool spent so much on English players over the summer with one eye on the homegrown rule. A lot of clubs I would imagine could fall foul of that. If the rule is quite strict then I'd imagine that clubs would have to do more scouting to sign up promising players in order to train them. Though I have it in my head that there's some sort of rule about how far a young prospect can be from their nearest club...
Let us skip the annoyance of 'he who shall not be named'.
I do wonder what part of Utd's campaign Scholes is to play. In opting for him before some young players it can't be good for their development. A few of the established players at the club are losing their touch (as it were) and no longer as dependable as they were in the past.
I wonder who makes the decisions as to what the audience sees. I can understand showing something when there's a stoppage in the game, a replay or a shot of the manager's reaction, but the stands....rarely understand that.

Anybody catch any of the FA Cup matches this weekend? Any interesting results?
The last match I saw was actually Arsenal at Fullham, and Fullham actually played really well. It was another match with a late winner.
I read a good portion of the report and and skimmed through the rest, suffice to say it was very exhaustive. That video of the dives though was a real treat though
Apparently Evra knows 5 languages, pretty cool. http://bit.ly/9FIlUK Who would have thunk (sp?) he has lived all of those experiences.
Norwich won against QPR? Can't complain with that. It seems QPR are hiring Mark Hughes to save them from relegation. This second half should get really interesting.
Anybody ready for some Serie A updates? hehe By the way, the strangest episode of Doctor Who is on right now...but also a really good one. Coincidence?

Wigan being dumped out of the FA Cup by Swindon is probably up there in terms of surprises. I will suggest that Norwich making it to the next round as being a surprise; I'm generally of the thought that Norwich get knocked out of any cup competition as soon as they play.
According to Liverpool the report was biased against Suarez as certain facts were ignored.
Yeah, Evra's language ability was brought up during the Suarez thing as well. That's a lot of languages to have a handle on.
Indeed we did. Probably helped Warnock to lose his job as well all things considered...

Caught the Manchester derby game yesterday, last 30 minutes of the game was one of the worst feelings to a 2nd half for any United fan watching. The Scholes return was surreal especially since there were rampant rumors going round, a part of me smiled that he has come back but for midfield I'm afraid he won't affect that much in that position, he's an option at least but not a total game changer.
A few premiership teams drew with league 1 and 2 teams as well. QPR failing to put away the game with MK Dons was a catalyst for Warnock's dismissal too I reckon, that and his comments due to the Barton incident also didn't help matters. Bolton drew with Macclesfield too, again another worrying result for a Bolton fan fearing relegation. Arsenal play Leeds tonight with Henry making his return perhaps; a match to look out for I guess.

Evra doesn't speak all those languages fluently, he apparently just picked up bits and pieces from foreign players he has played with. It was always a mystery how him and his two amigo's communicated at United. Evra, Tevez and Park were apparently the best of friends. I'm not sure why, but I find the idea of them running around Manchester causing havok particularly hilarious.
I assume Warnock was getting the chop before the Norwich game, moving for Hughes happened a bit too fast for it to be a sudden decision. Joorabchian seems to be involved here too, I think he might own Mark Hughes aswell.
I have to half agree with Mancini's comment about Rooney getting Kompany sent off. While I don't believe that he did get him sent off, I believe its about time refs started treating all players equally and certain players get away with abusing refs and waving imaginary cards more than others. Rooney is amongst the worst along with Ashley Cole, John Terry, Jamie Carragher, Craig Bellamy and Steve Gerrard.
Why the hell is The Iron Gerbil going around telling everyone that Demba Ba's buyout clause is only £5m? Surely thats breaking some rule. Wouldn't mind seeing United swoop in there but I can't see it happening, we will probably compete with QPR and re-sign Mark Hughes to play up front.
On Scholes Sparrow, expect to hear alot of "Thats loose from Scholes" and "Oh Scholes has given it away" just like last season. He is still a red card waiting to happen. I love the dirty wee ginger bastard and he is an absolute legend but seeing him come out of retirement was the last thing I wanted to see. He looked great in the other teams half with options yesterday but when under pressure in his own half he is a liability.

I assume that trio had their own little pidgeon going on with a lot of hand gestures; would want to assume the base language was English but with Tevez...hm.....
I doubt Warnock's sacking was sudden. Probably a bit like what happened with Hughton at Newcastle I would imagine. Mind you, QPR has a better excuse than Newcastle as they genuinely seem to be in trouble.
The card waving thing shouldn't be allowed, though I don't really see referees being strict enough to stamp it out either. I read that Kompany went in two-footed so that was always going to be a red card incident (missed that part of the game), but players shouldn't be prompting referees for a particular action.
How did The Iron Gerbil know is what I'm curious about. Did he inquire about Ba's price or something? Newcastle fans would be absolutely gutted if they lose Ba for such a paltry sum.

I assumed they just made noises and pointed alot. I also assumed that Tevez doesn't speak any language and just points at money while grunting.
Aye same sort of situation I'd say, although I believe the new board have been wanting rid since they took over but couldn't sack him because the fans were behind him for winning promotion. The fans seemed outraged when it was announced on SSN.
Wasn't card waving declared an automatic booking a couple of seasons ago? I could swear it was. You will occassionally see someone get booked for it but its rare and usually foreigners that get the ire of the ref from what I've seen.
I'd imagine The Iron Gerbil was informed by Ba's agent, no idea why he feel's the need to go spreading it around as I'd imagine Spurs would be very interested. Although Ba is untested at the very highest level and has dodgy knees he would surely be worth a punt at that price. Wage demands could be a problem though.

Sort of like Blanka again then. Where is that comparison picture on F365?
Well...Warnock said he left proudly, and getting a team promoted is certainly not something to be dismissed. I am starting to form the opinion that while he's a good manager for those wanting to get into the Premier League I'm not entirely convinced he can manage effectively at that level. Since he didn't complete an entire season this time we will never know. And yeah, I got the feeling the board wanted him gone as soon as the new owners were established; it just took a long time.
Probably was. But it's one of those things which doesn't get enforced, like the use of foul language towards the officials; that rarely ever gets enforced even though the rules are there for it. It is like the referees choosing which rules to enforce, and we're back at the consistency issue (and not to do with the FA for a change).
Seems so; it's the most plausible explanation. Hm...dodgy knees. Can't be worse than King in that respect (still think it's a shame as he does seem like a tremendous player). Mind you, when he does become injured The Iron Gerbil can continue his bare bones speech...
Hm...Henry scoring on his return to Arsenal to knock Leeds out of the FA Cup. Sort of allays the fears that he's not up to the job.
EDIT: well, Hughes is officially QPR's manager now. But judging by his comments....well....it almost sounds as if he thinks the job is below him or something.

Maybe they've been gagged?
Warnock just said he's writing a book about it too and I don't think he was joking. He seems to have taken it well atleast. He had no money to spend last time and only went down on the last day of the season and this time only got money on the last day of the window. Its hard to say really, is Benitez considered a good PL manager? Funny how the list of players Hughes is linked with signing is identical to the list Warnock was after.
Indeed. But shouldn't the FA be making them enforce it? Kompany's appeal was rejected and he now has a 4 game ban.
The Iron Gerbil is out in the media again announcing who he intends to sign, funny how Spurs complained about other teams doing that to their players. Loic Remy it is today, he spoke of Ba too but I stopped listening.
Michael Owen scored two against Leeds...

Maybe....
Warnock writing a book? For some reason I think I have to feel afraid. To be fair to Benitez he did a fairly consistent job with Liverpool, rarely excelling and rarely reaching the heights of glory. I would be wary of his ability of bringing players up through the ranks and that applies to quite a few managers who seem to spend money to fix problems, and his ability to utilize the obviously talented players he had bought. It was that latter flaw of his that held back potential progress for the club as far as I'm concerned.
They should do. Unfortunately we know how these things tend to end. And was Barton ever given an extra match ban for his failed appeal?
I think when The Iron Gerbil comes onto my screen I shall tune myself out and visit La-La Land for the duration he is on screen.
Ooo...here I thought he was still injured.
*Finds Warnock's picture; hides it under the sofa*

Wait, how did we come to the conclusion Warnock is a vampire last time? I think he's written a couple of books, I'm basing that on nothing but "he seems like the type".
I don't think Barton got an extra game and I think Kompany's extra game is because its his second red and not for a frivolous appeal.
Be glad you don't have SSN. There's nothing else on during the day and they are like The Iron Gerbil's personal soapbox. When he goes to jail they will most likely have a reporter outside his cell.
I prefered it when you were making bad meat puns...

Hm...sounds like another F365 lookalike to me. The Dracula from Bram Stoker's Dracula...can't remember who played the character in that...
Here I thought they get an extra game ban for frivolous appeals as well.
In that case I'll stick to trying to stay awake on Saturday and Sunday nights for MOTD then. I suppose I also get the added bonus of avoiding the Copper Rat.
All out of those for now....
Mancini is taking over The Iron Gerbil's 'bare bones' schtick at the moment. He might even have to use the kids...
Interesting to see where this match fixing thing will lead. I suppose it should have been obvious that any game in any competition could be effected by these people, and I am getting curious as to what sort of evidence they have. Seeing how long the Italian investigation went before the recent arrests it can't be easy to get the info. I also can't help but think that if this is widespread then does that mean we have on occasion watched sports entertainment by mistake?

Gary Oldman?
Yeah I'm confused about it, is it the FA saying "you have grounds to appeal but your still wrong"? Because thats an odd statement at best. Johnsons tackle last night was much worse than Kompany's, if Kompany's was a red then thats a red and a punch in the face. Consistancy once again.
Avoiding the Copper Rat is one of the finer things in life.
Its really Mancini's own fault, spending over £350m and not having enough cover for something you know is going to happen is disastrous management, although it wasn't him who spent it all. The Iron Gerbil is not much better. Glad I didn't watch the City match last night, I had a feeling it would be awful and by all accounts so far I was right.
Hhmmm I saw that on SSN the other day, they had the guy on talking and he seemed to be mentioning the PL just to be dramatic, they pushed him on it and he admitted to having no real evidence at all yet. Although I'd say there has to have been some fixing going on there somewhere at some point, its far too big for there not to have been.
SSN seem to have gotten a tad confused today, they seem to have forgotten what Robbie Keane looks like. I'm tempted to write in and inform them that he is infact not the guy they are pointing their camera's at while proclaiming its Keane's arrival at Villa. I'm not sure where to start with the differences in the two but I think Keane being very pale white and the other guy being black would be a fairly big clue for them. Considering they just had an interview with the actual Robbie Keane makes it even more baffling.

Yeah. That's it! I'm thinking we should email them about our discoveries.
Didn't see it by heard about it. Inconsistency across referees is understandable, so a matter of luck as to who thinks it's a red card offense. (It was someone different, right?) But...well...just not good especially from Man City's view after one that could have been deemed harsh.
Not sure if I should count that as a major or minor thing....it's a good thing without a doubt to avoid the Copper Rat, just not sure which category.
In effect Mancini bought a team rather than a squad. The Iron Gerbil has for the most part done that, though for some reason I think Tottenham are a more balanced team. Considering their league position I think he has a reason to be smug (unfortunately). It will be interesting to see where they finish come the end of the season. It looks to be one of those seasons where it's a team's to lose as the top teams try not to mess up a match.
Yeah. There's no concrete evidence just a fair bit of conjecture. (If they had evidence then they could make legal inquiries and stuff.) Pretty sure such things can be widespread. I've heard stuff about horse racing so it wouldn't surprise me if it happens in football; but it always bothers me that to really influence certain games you need more than one player on board. Much easier to influence a referee or official really.
The video editor needs to be sacked; that's a pretty bad mistake to make. Or is it just a camera wielding problem?

We would be gods to them.
Yeah different ref. Things are getting nasty between City and Liverpool it seems.
The Iron Gerbil bought a bunch of players he doesn't seem to want to play or sell like Pienaar, Kranjcar and Sandro. I dunno what to make of the squad depth there, on the one hand they have some decent players but on the other their own manager doesn't seem to trust them. Van Der Vaart is probably their best attacker and he was signed over The Iron Gerbils head so he can't even really take credit for the good signings. Bale becoming a left winger seems to have been an accident too.
Indeed but I assume its very specific things like betting on the player to be sent off although even that can be unpredictable with the way refs are going.
I'm not sure, it was them talking about his arrival but their video footage was some random guy getting out of a car, I don't even think he was a footballer I don't recognise him, though he looked a bit like George Boateng. In the next hour they had it changed to one of Keane in his press conference.
And talks over Tevez have broken down again.
The ACN is going to be on one of the ITV channels this month apparently. Algerian Steve will be well pleased.

Transcendence into godhood. Hm....
I read that Mancini and Gerrard had an argument about the incident but haven't seen anything else about the clubs yet. Though the way things for Liverpool at the moment it could just be that whatever they do may offend someone somewhere.
That is odd. Then there is The Iron Gerbil's man management as well; he always seems to isolate certain players for no apparent reason. Sometimes they're good players as well.
Hm...never thought about that. Now that you mention it that would make a lot more sense.
Almost sounds like filler footage. Still seems like a pretty poor mistake to make from a viewing perspective though.
Man City seems adamant about selling Tevez; Milan were always proposing a loan move then buy later option (though seemed unlikely to take that up after Cassano recovers). I think Man City just got fed up with Milan's moves and stuff. At least we have yet to hear a move break down due to Tevez's wage demands.
Hm...knowing my viewing habits I'll probably miss it.
Rather pleased with Norwich's win over West Brom. May things kick on for us.

Good to see Arsenal getting back to how they play best. Ho Ho.
Anyway, my team Bradford had a harsh result against Morcambe at the weekend. 2-1 up with a minute to go, and they equalise. Bummer.

Seemed like a cracking game between Swansea and Arsenal. It has been a long time since Arsenal knew how to defend. Given current league positions the battle for fourth place is rather intriguing.
You should take my fist shaking motion/action when late equalizers occur, Mordin...
Read that QPR want to be challenging for the league in ten years. Personally I have a feeling that the league as things stand now would be close to impossible for teams outside of that elite group to actually challenge for the league title. Would be nice to see teams do it but I just can't see it happening, not unless the big clubs suddenly hit financial breaking point which somehow evens out the financial playing field as it were.

Hopefully Arsenal will remain at their "best" next weekend against us. Although I'm less than confident, first time in 29 years as a United fan I don't fancy our chances against most teams in the league.
I don't think any team will be able to break the strangle hold of the elite for several years especially when FFP comes into action.
Just read City turned down a £20m bid for Tevez and are refusing to budge on their evaluation of £25m. He still hasn't been punished for going awol, surely thats setting a dangerous precedent. Can Samba just f*ck off to wherever he wants now that he has handed in a transfer request?
The Iron Gerbil last week was hooting and bleeting about how Spurs can win the league and had a 'triffic chance guv'. One draw later and he never believed they could win the league in the first place because they aren't good enough. Surely if they are going to ever win the the league then a manager with a spine is required.
Chelsea seem to be getting an awful lot of luck recently, Lampard not being sent off for a horror challenge then scoring the winner and scoring another winner while he should be suspended for that red card. Also it was typical Lampard blind luck he just happened to be standing there when the ball hit the cross bar then hit him. Not to mention the penalty that Ashley Cole should have conceded for barging the attacker in the back on Saturday. Awful lot of sudden luck.
