I've never actually hated a United player before, but I utterly loath the odious ****. I don't actually know anyone who wants him to stay either. If we do accomplish anything with him the team it will almost feel tainted for me. I think Moyes has handled the whole thing well for the most part so far.

Interesting weekend so far. Sunderlands new signings didn't exactly work out against Fulham who have been fairly crap away from home for the last few years. Norwich didn't get to play some of theirs but Van Wolfswinkel looked impressive. Ross Barkley did well for Everton and might soon find himself being hyped to within an inch of his life by a desperate media. Welbeck seems to have got back his old finishing confidence, if he can add goals to his performances from last season we will have a hell of a player.

So, as a United fan was Moyes your pick for the job?
Personally, I think he's an excellent manager but he's not won anything yet and has never had so much expected of his team before. He's also never had access to such funds for transfers before but he made some very good signings at Everton so I guess he'll do well on that front.
Basically, I like him and just hope he gets time.

And I agree about Ross Barkley - looks good but he's already been described as being reminiscent of a young Wayne Rooney (I know how you feel about Rooney now but he had enormous potential as a youngster). I can feel the hype building already.

To be honest, Sir Alex retiring was something I refused to think about. I'm still struggling to wrap my mind around having someone else as our manager. I can't see who else we could have gone for and I suppose Moyes would have to be my pick, he has PL experience and has the bonus of not being Mourinho. I think he will get time, the board will know that it's going to take him time to really stamp his authority on things and the act he has to follow is near impossible. It's the large percentage of spoilt imbeciles who seem to think we should be winning every match 6-0 that tend to support United that worry me. The people who would call for Sir Alex to be fired after a draw while we were 5 points clear at the top of the league. The same people who spent years calling Carrick crap and demanding he be sold. They could get very, very embarrassing if things don't go well straight away. The Fabregas ordeal was somewhat mental, it's good that Moyes is showing he sees the problem area and is showing serious ambition to solve it, but we overreached a bit there far too publicly. I'm fully expecting us to end the month with no signings, but remain quietly optimistic of our chances of winning the league or a cup. Midfield really is nowhere near good enough for Europe though and a left winger would be nice to have.

Yep, the Rooney comparisons were being bandied about a bit too freely for my liking. He does look a good young player and that was a hell of a strike yesterday, but the media are going to go overboard and pile pressure on him by the looks of things. Maybe even worse than Wilshere and Walcott had/have to endure. Great English talent doesn't really get a chance to grow and mature naturally before the media thrust "Saviour of the England team" status upon it, then turn on the kid when they can't live up to the hype straight away. Which is a problem for England, but hilarious/mind numbing in equal measure for everyone else.

Who do you support?

I'll be interested to see how Gary Hooper adjusts to life in the Premiership. Chris Hughton has bought very well in this window and both Redmond and Van Wolfswinkel looked sharp. Norwich may suprise a few this year and I've always been a fan of Ruddy and Hoolahan.

Great start for United as well. It would be nice to sign an individual to control the midfield in the same way that Keane could. Fabregas would have complimented Carrick well but that deal looks out of reach. I even heard talk of Schweinsteiger but I doubt he'd ever leave Bayern (especially since they're Kings of Europe at the moment).

Here in The Netherlands, the competition started 3 weeks ago. So far, only PSV and PEC (who usually fights for relegation) have won all 3 matches. Ajax has 6 points and Feyenoord still has 0, which is their worst opening in their entire history:devil:

The first fired trainer of the season is already a fact. NEC only got 1 point in the last 10 matches of last season and this season they are still at 0 with 2 goals for and 14 against.

NAC (my team) got 1 point, which is a bad start considering the teams we had to play against. But we did get a new spits; Perica, he's from Chelsea apparently, does anyone know him?

And a new delegation of Dutchmen have entered the Premier League.
Stekelenburg, who was the best Dutch keeper for a while before he went to Italy. He can probably redeem himself at least a bit in England, as soon as his new injury is over..

Van Wolfswinkel at Norwich, who is a very good player, he left Portugal because he didn't got payed anymore. He definelty has the potential to become the topscorer at Norwich.

Leroy Fer also at Norwich. He had a bad year after his transfer was cancelled last year, I'm not sure if he can live up to the niveau in England.

Van Ginkel at Chelsea. He is a very talented young player. Chelsea will probably bring him slowly but he has the potential to become a great player.

Chadli at Tottenham. He earned a transfer to a better competition, he'll probably score a couple of goals.

Perica isn't ringing any bells, Kimo. What's a spits?

What do you make of Christian Eriksen(I've probably spelt that wrong)? He seemed to be one of the highest rated young players in Europe, yet none of the big teams seem to want him. He has looked pretty good in the brief glimpses I've had of him.

I suspect Van Ginkel might not get much of a chance at Chelsea. January loan move to a team in Germany I'd put my money on.

The last week of the transfer window looks like its going to be hilarious fun. Arsenal fan group calling for Wenger not to be offered a new contract, Arsenal bid for Cabaye who I think would improve them or us. Surprised we aren't in for him too. Not a massive step up, but better than what we have.

Everton calling our bid for Fellaini and Baines insulting. A couple of years ago it would be a good offer, in todays market it is pretty laughable. I don't see why we need Baines unless Evra is being moved to left wing. Fellaini is a very good player and would do a good job for us.

Whoops, a bit of Dutch sneaked in. A spits is a striker and we were chronically lacking one.

Actually, you spelled it correctly :).
Eriksen wants a big transfer. He already turned down offers from Leverkusen, CSKA, and Dynamo Moskou and some other French and Italian teams and there are still open bids from Tottenham and Liverpool.
Besides, Eriksen is not yet the most consitent player, I think the real big teams are content with him riping some more since they have enough players to fill that position.

I don't expect Van Ginkel to be playing for Chelsea this year either, they will indeed lend him to a championship or foreign team to get some experience but maybe next year...

I'm from Scotland so unsurprisingly I support one half of the old firm. Specifically the 3rd division champions and rolling carnival of drama & corruption - Rangers. Although to be honest I've not followed Scottish football too closely for quite a while now.

Borussia Dortmund was rumored to be interested in Eriksen for a while.
Tbh I hoped for him to join, but it seems most bigger clubs aren't sure if he's consistent enough.

Fellaini would do a good job for United, I'm just not convinced if they're gonna get him.

Should be interesting what the Reds are gonna do before the window closes.

It seems Spurs have been given permission to speak with Eriksen. So in 2 or 3 years if/when he matures United/Bayern Munich/Real Madrid/Barcelona/a sugar daddy club will be stuck trying to negotiate with Daniel Levy to get him for £60m. I look forward to the tedium. Spurs seem to be assembling quite the team. Them and Chelsea seem to be stockpiling attacking midfielder/winger types for some reason.

Interesting weekend, big win for Cardiff. How can Mourinho(because it's all about him now, Chelsea and the players are just a side attraction apparently) have so many flair players and attacking midfielders yet be so awful to watch? I've almost fallen asleep watching their games this season.

It seems Rooney is staying. Is he going to play every match now to stop him from stropping? I wish we would just get rid of him, he's not worth the wages or the distraction(s). I was hoping to see Kagawa given the role behind RVP this season. Hopefully he can wrestle it away. Still no midfield or left wing signings...

^ Pretty much every Mourinho team has been a chore to watch a lot of the time. Creativity seems to get sapped out his players for some reason.

I can't believe ManU are willing to run down Rooney's contract and lose him for nothing eventually instead of pocketing 25 million+ and having Chelsea deal with his nonsense from then on.

Also, Barkley called up to the England squad......what a surprise.

Indeed, I wonder if it's frustrating being a flair player under him. I've been assuming that it's his ego and he doesn't want anyone getting more plaudits than him. I'm surprised he hasn't used Lukaku much so far.

The only sense I can see in it is that we are refusing to budge to player power and give Rooney what he wants. Also refusing to let Chelsea appear to bully us. But I'd much rather just get rid. He played well on Monday, bar the moment when he should have played RVP in and chose to shoot instead. We all know he was playing for himself and not the team though, because he knows the spotlight is on him. I hope Moyes isn't planning on playing him to keep him happy regardless of form.

Apparently we have bid low for Ander Herrera instead of meeting his release clause and still haven't agreed a deal for Fellaini or Baines, Fellaini who had a release clause that we let run out. It's starting to become quite infuriating. Not signing players is one thing if Moyes doesn't think we need them, but constantly low balling teams by a couple of million smacks of arrogance and stupidity.

Haha, I meant to mention the Barkley thing. How long do we give him until he is declared the new Pele and linked with every team in the top 5?

Is anyone interested in this years Pro Evolution Soccer or FIFA? I thought last years PES was excellent, after some initial teething problems, FIFA I can't get into any more, FIFA 12 finished me off. There is a bit of a debacle with licencing though, EA have bought up a pile more licences at the last minute and left PES having to remove a lot of stuff...

http://www.computera...stadium-editor/

There's a petition going around trying to stop EA from monopolizing football games(it more or less has already, PES is the only competition) the way they have done with things like the NHL, NFL and NBA. If anyone is interested in signing it, it's here...

http://www.change.or...=share_petition

It applies to Football Manager too. There's a few licences they haven't been able to get either.

You happy Charles Green is gone, Cato?

Eriksen is officially of to Tottenham for 12m with the possibility of that increasing to 13.5m through bonusses and with Aldeweireld is off to Atlethico Madrid, I'm wondering how Ajax will fill those gaps..

The CL poules are set and with Ajax put in the same poule as Barca, AC Milan and Celtic there might just be a small chance of them advancing..

Ha, yeah, good riddance to Green but the stupidity and incompetence of the board won't end any time soon.

Watching the Super Cup right now, surprisingly competitive match all things considered. Ramires has just been shown a second yellow card for a pretty horrendous tackle but Andy Townshend thinks he was unlucky, lol.

^ As I was typing that Neuer fumbled a Hazard shot into his net, looks like Chelsea have got this.

Andy Townsend in not having a clue shocker lol. Sky's coverage isn't much better, odd how when Ashley Cole dived on Monday night even after several replays they refused to outright say he dived. Manzukic went down and they are immediately declaring it a dive.

What's the odds on Mourinho declaring himself champion of Europe if they hang on?

Edit: YESSS!! Equaliser just as I press submit.

A poor performance and result for your team today, Druss. The result never really looked in doubt for Liverpool and United seemed very stale without RvP working his usual magic.
I'd be stunned if Liverpool were able to keep up anything like this kind of form though, surely not title contenders anyway.

Yeah, I'm beyond fuming, Cato. Getting beat and playing crap at Anfield happens most years. The team selection is what's getting to me. Giggs on the right ahead of Valencia and Zaha? Kagawa not even on the bench. Young on the pitch. That and the fact we are still arsing around with signings when its blatantly obvious where the issues are. Fully expecting to hear later in the week "No value in the market and happy with the squad I've got."

The best match I've watched recently was "Dortmund 2 - 1 Frankfurt".
I have some problems with adjusting satellite channels, maybe I should get another Analog Receiver and watch the important from regional channels.
I really want to watch England and Spain leagues, plus European championship.

What an interesting CL day this was.

Real Sociedad losing was a bit of a shocker for me, though I did hear that they controlled the whole game, simply didn't finish well.

The Old Lady being held to a draw by København was somewhat unexpected as well. Juve seemed really apathetic (or so I've read), hoping they improve and keep Madrid in 2nd place. Just because me no like RM.

And, speaking of Real Madrid, poor Casillas. Terrible, terrible luck.

I haven't been watching any football soccer recently...but I do know that Gareth Bale was transferred to Real Madrid and that Guardiola and Mourinho faced off with their new teams. What happened to Casillas???

How did Juventus draw to København?? I should be manager of that team, then I would win the scudetto every year! (I would not care about the Champions League though)

Woohoo good showing for this ManU fan yesterday :) But yes, what DID happen to Casillas? I need to do some googling.

Anyone doing fantasy football? I need to check my team.... why did I pick RVP instead of Rooney... two goals and one assist, ahhh *weeps*

Casillas bumped into Ramos, it didn´t exactly look bad but apparently it was bad enough that he couldn´t continue..

Kopenhagen´s keeper had the day of his life. Juve was much better but they either messed up themselves or the keeper had a great save

And I will just leave you with this:
