Sorry for not posting lately. The southern rugby season's back on, and let's just say my team's (the Crusaders) performance hasn't really put me in the mood to talk about sports in general. Arsenal's recent performance was only more salt to the wound.

Right, the Manchester Derby. Was there any doubt? The only realistic outcome in favour of United would have been a dignified draw, and even that's asking much. Now I fear for them against Bayern, I really do. It's going to be a humiliation.

Meanwhile, there's been talks of Suarez being player of the year. He certainly has been sensational, but that kind of accolade does deserve a closer consideration. What do you think?

Anyway, it's a three-horse race now, with Arsenal fading as I knew they would; the lack of proper spending in January has come back to bite them. But Liverpool catching fire like this is a surprise. A fitting reward for Gerrard as he approaches the twilight of his career? Perhaps. Recently, in rugby, another legendary captain of another battling, slightly underdog-ish team was sent off into retirement with a championship in his hand and a smile on his face. These things do happen.

Elsewhere, Bundesliga was anti-climatically settled with 7 games to go, and Serie A's looking likely to end a similar way. However, in Spain - the one place you'd least expect an exciting title race - more madness has ensued. Stumbles by both their rivals in Weeks 25 to 27 seemed to have put Real in control, but losses in El Clasico and to Sevilla have now put Atletico back on top and Barca breathing down their necks. Unbelievable.

I can't think of any other player that deserves it more this season. A players past indiscretions shouldn't factor into the award in my opinion.
Who do you think should win? Yaya Toure, Hazard, Sturridge and Lallana have all been terrific but I'd be surprised if Suarez doesn't win.

So my favorite team (http://en.wikipedia....iki/Foolad_F.C.) became Champion of the league few hours ago :D

The European championship teams are quite interesting. I like how Barcelona was owned by Athletico. Real and Chelsea can beat the other two by my estimation [wishful thinking].

I support Athelitico to win La Liga for a change.

And finally I'm really p*ssed off how Arsenal couldn't stay at the top of the English League.

Stevie Me costing Liverpool the league title with that slip and subsequent performance today would more than make up for United's terrible season for me. The slip and his face afterwards was hilarious enough, but him then spending the rest of the match showing himself up as the greedy glory hunter he is was pretty special. One of the most shocking displays of team play and leadership I've ever seen.

The unpopularity of this topic is disturbing. Hopefully the fellows from 2010 World Cup will return here to discuss about Brazil World Cup.

For UEFA Champions final I like to see a Real Madrid - Chelsea Match. Mourinhio vs his previous team and Ancelotti will be very interesting to me.

Aye, it's gotten quiet the last few months. Rage might be back in the summer though with another World Cup game and we can all join together in laughing at the English like last time. It will be glorious.

I'm hoping for a Real Madrid - Athletico Madrid final, but I can't see it happening to be honest. Bayern Munich were the best team in Europe by a mile last year and added two of the best young players in the world in the summer, but every time I've seen them they have looked a pale shadow of last season with players seemingly shoved into random positions.

I must have fallen asleep before Gerard's glory hunter escapades. Mourihno should patent his team's performances as a cure for insomnia, it may have been a 'tactical masterclass' but it's just so dull. Plus it's exactly the type of defensive strategy Mourihno is so annoyed by when other team's deploy it against Chelsea.

I am hoping for exactly the opposite.

Both Chelsea and Real Madrid play dreadfully boring football, if that will be the final I don't think I can watch the match without falling asleep.

Bayern plays good offensive football and while Atletico is the weakest club on quality they more than make up for that with good teamplay and a do or die strategy.

I saw that Liverpool lost to Chelsea.. That will probably mean the premier league title goes to City this year. I have absolutely no love for Suarez and would like to see him pretty much fail at everything but Liverpool played really good this year and if anyone deserves to be champions it's them, not some club that just throws money at every problem they see.

He kept shooting from range and relieving the pressure on Chelsea, it was either going to the keeper or out for a goal kick leaving Chelsea free to waste more time and then clear it to Ba to hold up. Gerrard almost single handedly killed any momentum Liverpool built up. "This does not f*cking slip now!" Brilliant. Had anyone else played like that they would be getting crucified.

I love how waiting for the other team to shoot themselves in the foot while offering very little threat otherwise can be painted as a tactical masterclass by the media when it's Mourinho involved. That bloody second goal cost me £100.

People seem too be calling for Giggs to get the United job, they need to calm down a bit. We beat a Norwich side completely out of sorts and looking defeated already, we laboured for 40 mins and got a dubious penalty to get the ball rolling, then they just kind of collapsed. Plus he still allowed Ashley Young on the pitch. I hope we get Van Gaal, mostly because I've heard he's mostly insane and doesn't take sh*t from lazy players he can't rely on. He might be the man to rid us of Rooney.

So I managed to watch 'Real - Bayern' ... it was destined to be a failure for Bayern. The Defense of Real, Di Maria, Ronaldo and Bale played well. Poor Bayern...

Now half of my prophesy is turned to reality!

And for England, as an Arsenal fan I'm OK with either Chelsea or Liverpool win the cup, but Man City shouldn't because it's annoying.

After the 0:1 in the first game and the way it came to pass I was prepared for Bayern to not make it to the final. Didn't expect they'd get that kind of a beating, though. I'm not neccessarily a fan, but that was a bit painful to watch. They really seem to have lost their drive and focus since they won the Bundesliga so early. In that condition they'll end up losing the DFB-Pokal final against Dortmund as well. Which would make me quite happy, to be honest.

More interesting to me actually is the question wether the HSV manages to stay in the Bundesliga or not. They seem hellbent on making their first ever relegation in the history of the league a reality (they're the only club that never had to leave the BL). I'm not really a HSV fan, my heart belongs to St. Pauli (who lost their last slim chance to ascend to the Bundesliga last weekend), but coming from Hamburg I can't help but feel sorry to see them join Pauli in the 2. league - these teams should only meet in the Bundesliga!

They'd deserve it though, they simply sucked this season.

Yeah, it sucks when good teams become mediocre and fall to 2nd league. About Bayern I'll certainly enjoy their defeat against Dortmund!

Back in 2004 when I was choosing my favorite European teams I really enjoyed the matches of Arsenal (England), Valencia (Spain), Inter Milan (Italy) and Werder Bremen (Germany). So I became a fan of them. When Valencia lost all its new stars (like Silva and Villa) and old legends (like Canizares, Joaquin, Morientes and Vicente) it lost its soul and I found Real Madrid a much more interesting team and I changed loyalty!

But Werder Bremen is a different thing to me. I kinda love(d) it. It had an excellent squad till 2006 and a good squad till 2010. Now WB's best player is "Aaron Hunt"! I hope someday an Arab or Russian gas/oil capitalist comes and buys WB... then it will be as good as Dortmund!

edit [1st may]:

Pfft, Athletico's win was pure luck.

Sooo... A lot happend in the last week.

Liverpool completely gave away their first title in more than 20 years.

Atletico Madrid nearly did the same, they just had some luck that Real tied but they can still lose it if the don't win against Barcalona the last match

Van Gaal might become the new Man United coach, I already feel sorry for any United supporter here. If he is smart he'll sign before the World Cup since that will be a complete and utter flop. It will take a small miracle to even advance past the poule fase this year (and a part of that is because of Van Gaal)

HSV is doing a really good job at relegating, too bad since they will have go get that timer of theirs down but that's what you get from refusing to admit that your starplayer can't even get along in the second league anymore (a.k.a Van der Vaart).

I sometimes think if I watch my favorite teams serious matches they don't win. I guess it's right. Inter and then Real Madrid...

The tyranny of Bayern ends tomorrow!

I'll be definitely watching it if our TV shows it and it doesn't interfere with Barcelona - Atheltico match time.

I'm also interested in the last Arsenal match. The cup will be Arsenal's at last!

I'm definitely counting on the BVB to win! They probably can't break the dominance of Bayern over the course of the Bundesliga season, but they can beat them in a 1:1 anytime. I'd love to watch this game with a friend of mine who's been a huge BVB fan since forever, but it's also another friend's birthday and I should really go to his party. Damn you, life!   :P

I also won't be able to watch the second and final round of HSV vs Greuther Fürth. The first match yesterday ended 0:0, so the match on Sunday will decide which club will play Bundesliga next season. So one game, probably ending with a penalty shoot-out, deciding on wether the famous HSV BL clock will have to be reset for the first time. Yeah, no pressure there, guys...

So beautiful.

My heart dropped right out of my chest when Hull scored twice in the first ten minutes. Then my mood brightened a little when Cazorla got one back. Then frustration built as I waited impatiently for the equalizer. Then overwhelming relief as Koscielny finally got the breakthrough. Then a sense of dread as the game went into extra time and the prospect of the penalty shoot-out lottery loomed. Finally, as Ramsey drilled a sweetly struck winner into the bottom corner, I lost it, uttered some primal roar I cannot replicate, and started shouting; "Only 10 minutes to go, please don't f*** this up!" Then my heart skipped a beat when Hull almost equalised. Then relief as the referee blew the whistle. Then elation. Then satisfaction.

A roller-coaster of a ride, but I guess when you waited so long for a trophy, it can't be any other way.

Also, congratulations to Atletico Madrid. It was a gutsy performance against Barca, full of heart and tenacity, such that even the Camp Nou crowd could not help but applaud them after the game ended.

In 2010, Spain became the first European team to win the World Cup outside of Europe. As the old saying goes, "There's a first time to everything."

Brazil are playing well enough to be top contenders, but I still have to back European heavyweights to be a factor.

The last national matches have just about ended in Europe.

I'm sad to see that Real took the Champions League, they were better than Atlethico but it would have been amazing if they managed to snatch that one as well after their amazing tie at Barca to become the national champions (I must say, I really didn't think they would make it in Camp Nou after they failed to take their prize in the weeks leading up to that match)

HSV managed to stay in the Bundesliga with the tips of their toes. I didn't see the HSV home match but I did see the away match and they deserved to relegate.

Here in The Netherlands we got something that don't happens often. 3 teams were relegated and thus 3 teams were promoted, normally only 1 or 2 change leagues but at least the number 16 of the second league didn't promote (yes, there was a real change of that happening). At least our main rivals are back so that's something to look forward to.

Van Gaal officially signed at United and his first act has already been made: Kroos will not come to Manchester, I don't know enough of the defense of United to say much about it but it seems to be that Kroos is an addition to pretty much any team.. Plus the first rumours are already spreading that Van Gaal is taking Robben and Strootman with him to United.

Meanwhile he is still trying to figure out how our national team is going to play on the World Cup. He has yet to announce the last few players that won't go to Brazil and each match he is playing with a different team and strategy. You'd think that this close to the World Cup he'd at least figured out in what system they are going to play.. plus during the preparations in the last few weeks already 2 players have injured themselves..

I really do not have high hopes for us on the World Cup and United really should have gone for another coach..

But talking about the World Cup, is anyone interested in holding another pool like we did during previous EC's and WC's?

I'd be up for another WC pool, despite being unfairly robbed of my victory last time.

I like that we got Van Gaal, getting a manager who won't suffer the sh*te that Moyes not only put up with but seemed to encourage is the best thing for us. There's a lot of United fans who want LVG simply because we believe he will finally deal with the Rooney and midfield problems. SIr Alex was in the process of dealing with Rooney and getting rid of him then Moyes arrives and decides to build a team around him. So many of our attacking problems come from shoehorning Rooney into the team when he isn't our best striker or our best attacking midfielder. There's hope that LVG will improve Cleverly and Fellaini and we will bring in someone of some class to improve the midfield.

I don't think anyone is epecting LVG to win the league with the team we have, we have had huge problems with our midfield for years and now we have an unbalanced attack that tries to squeeze Mata, Rooney and RVP in. Last season the problems were only made worse instead of better and now we need at least 3 new defenders unless some youngsters step up, we also need at the very least 1 or 2 midfielders and a winger. I think most people will be happy if LVG just gets us back into the Champions League. He really can't do any worse than Moyes, but if he keeps playing Young and Rooney regardless of form like Moyes did then my head might explode. Also I think him pulling the plug on Kroos was just us saving face in the media, Kroos was just using us to get a bigger contract at Bayern and when Bayern called his bluff he rejected us, then we put out the story that it was us rejecting him. The spurned lover approach. I can't see us being in for Robben either given his age.
