I'd be up for organizing the pool if we get at least a nice group of people to join

He will probably be harder on most players but he is also way to stuck in is own ways. It took him forever to realize he had to change the way the Dutch team played and even now he is still unsure about it. Plus, the way he has been playing the last year, Van der Vaart should never be allowed to go to Brazil but I think it is very likely that he will bring him along because he was one of the big players a few years ago. Just when he was coach in the early 2000's and we didn't even make it to the World Cup.

But it is true that he really can't do much worse than Moyes..

HSV managed to stay in the Bundesliga with the tips of their toes. I didn't see the HSV home match but I did see the away match and they deserved to relegate.

Those two matches were so bad. But hey, Greuther Fürth didn't manage to score against the pathetic HSV after all, so like in the league they didn't relegate in the end because there was someone slightly worse. I really wanted them to stay in the BL, but oh my Glob, did they ever deserve it to descend.

But talking about the World Cup, is anyone interested in holding another pool like we did during previous EC's and WC's?

I'm in!

I can't wait for the World Cup to start, I was drawn to buy tickets for 4 of the 6 games that will happen here in my city (São Paulo) so I'm pretty hyped for the whole thing!

Yeah. Werder Bremen was much better than HSV this season!

^ shows how much PSV was weak this season!

@felipejiraya, that is really cool and there are some nice matches in there. Be sure to wave so that we know your there :)

@TheRealJayDee, it works pretty simple. Before each round you post your predictions of that round (a round being that every country played 1 match) and depending on the results (and the amount of bribery) I will award you points. At the end, the person with the most points is the undisputed King or Queen of Football and will be rewarded with a grand prize.

This is the pool from the EC's in 2012, I will probably follow the same rules unless someone has other idea's

Just passing by. If you're organizing the pool again this year Kimo, I'm in! I loved it during the last 2 Cups and would love to continue the tradition :D

Looks like Van der Vaart isn't going to go to Brazil B). He probably felt that he wasn't going to get selected for the final team so he is faking an injury (and yes, I am pretty sure he is faking it and not really injured).

And in the meantime, Seedorf got fired at Milan. Only 4 months ago he was the only man for the job and they had to have him and now they had to pay 10 million euro to buy off his 2.5 year contract. Smooth.

Looks like we have a nice little group for a pool. I can probably talk Sjpelke into joining as well and I'll try to contact Rage and some others who joined 2 years ago. I will probably create a separate topic in a few days to make sure I can keep track of everything.

Hi everyone, I'd like to partecipate to the WC pool as well :).
On Seedorf, the problem was both with the higher ups (they apparently didn't like his strong personality, though it's strange since they should've known him considering he played for years there, and that Berlusconi personally choose him in January) and with the team (there are two factions, some supported him and others were against him). It really doesn't make sense to take another coach since they don't have a great budget anymore (which is why I think they're going to sell Balotelli, hoping that he'll make a good WC). I think they want to pay him monthly until he'll get another team.

Abraham-uk will be here too.

Is this the thread you were advertising?

Sadly I have no tickets, but I shall be watching the drama unfold on TV.

COME ON ENGLAND!

If England win, huge celebrations!

If England lose, I get to complain about it!

Man I love to complain!

I know this is a really old image but I love it.

Protests in Brasil are gonna be hectic. If anyone has family going tell them to be safe.

Iran did bad in preparations matches. Three draws with Angola, Montenegro and Belarus. Their failure in World Cup will be hilarious!

Brazil police has already said do not go swimming if you want your property secure! And don't take photos because thieves like to grab your phones and cameras when you're focusing on taking photos!

Plus... lolwut? Some Stadiums aren't prepared yet! Then the Riots!

Worst world cup ever?!

I think World Cup (and Olympics) should only be done in countries with approriate infrastructure and a certain level of development that countries like Brazil lack.

But as a brazilian I also think there's too much fuss for nothing, I remember in 2010 they had warnings for raping of white women who wandered in the streets of South Africa and in the end nothing really serious happened in their WC.

It's the same thing here in Brazil. Yes, there's violence but the security in the streets was enhanced and it's just a matter of the tourists don't try to be Indiana Jones and go to the slums just for adventure. The protests that are happening now are not big like the ones of last year and they're not violent with people (like they won't hunt down foreigners just because they're here for the WC) just with property (like banks and stuff like that).

Depende do local meu irmao.

Italy lost Montolivo for the WC. I feel Sorry for him, but I'm glad Verratti will get more chances to play.

Verratti is a very good player (idea based on Fifa 14!), so this event shouldn't be a very unfortunate one for Italy.

However Germany is in really bad condition and I don't know if I should even predict them being in 1/8 finals or not. Manuel Neuer, Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Sami Khedira, Miroslav Klose, Lars Bender, Mario Gomez and Ilkay Gundogan are injured.

Bloody hell I completely forgot the Euro's one. We need OBaka and Harry back to defend their first and second places.

Something very mysterious happened on the final page of that thread and I'm not sure what it was.

It is the same as the Olympics in Russia. Everybody knows that there are many, many things that are not going according to any form of moral/legal code but everybody can ignore it because it is sport. I think that there is not a big chance of anything serious happening, sure it is possible with everything happening and many people can use this WC as leverage but the security will be enhanced and many people also wouldn't want to disturb an international event to much for fear of being made an example.

I'd love to join! ^_^

Then I'll add you :)

I will make a seperate topic and put the link here as well

Me too. Adidas seem to do the best looking shirts these days. Is there any explanation for the Pokemon being on there?

@Kimo: OBaka's profile is still there, but I'm not sure if that means anything on this new site, I tried messaging him and Sparrow anyway. More people will trickle in in the days leading up to the tournament.
