Sooooo, a whole bunch of FIFA officials arrested in a big corruption case. My only comment is 'What took so long?' It's been obvious to any regular joe with a brain that this organization was rife with corruption for years especially with some of the mind boggling choices for world cup venues.

Woman's world cup begins soon here in Canada. I may go to a few games here in Edmonton depending on my schedule.

I can't believe Sepp Blatter somehow avoided the net.

Wouldn't put it past him to have encouraged investigators to look the way of other suspect people instead of him.

No surprise. The man's got a bigger buffer zone between him and dirt than the Korean DMZ.
I would be counting for the day he goes, except his most likely successor is probably Michel Platini. Brr.

Blatter resigns!
I would guess that the turnabout is probably very likely to do with major sponsors saying they were going to jump ship enmasse if he stayed on. It's all about the money and if the big boys like Coke, Visa and Adidas put their foot down they could quickly make it apparent that the teflon man needs to go.

After all the defiant bombast about conspiracies and sore losers, it will be interesting to see what finally pushed him over the edge.
It's the right decision. He may or may not have been involved in the corruption, but it still happened under his watch. At best, he's naive and incompetent. At worst, he's either complicit, or blatantly criminally negligent. None of these are qualities befitting of a leader. He had to go.
And remember, this happened because of US Justice Department and FBI investigations. Heroes don't come much more unlikely than that. All I can say is God Bless America.

What happened to Qatar and Russia upcoming world cups?
And don't forget to watch UEFA Champion Cup Final (Barcelona-Juventus) at 6/6/2015.

So Barcelona won the UEFA Championship's cup and two others in Spain, totally a Hat-trick of cups.
Congratulations. Juventus played good too, but wasn't lucky enough. I can say the last goal was BS, it was 1 minute after the time the game should have finished.
And what we have here is:
NO MORE MR. NICE GUY!

I've got tattoos too! The new logic: You either have tattoos or you're not a true football player! ![]()

Not as cool as Dani Alves's hair last week though. (I'd find a picture but I'm phone posting.)
Anyone watching the women's world cup?

If anyone was watching the Ireland vs England friendly today, all I can say to you is; hah hah. That's 90 minutes of your life you'll never get back. Meanwhile, I was enjoying the tennis instead, knowing right from the start it was going to be the dullest 0-0 draw you'll ever see.
Man, the FIFA corruption mess just gets wilder. Did you hear about Jack Warner, former FIFA vice president-turned-politician and hilariously comedic villain, syphoning off nearly half of the $10 million he received from South Africa to a supermarket chain? Or how about when Germany bought Saudi Arabia's deciding vote to host the 2006 World Cup with arms deals, after the New Zealand delegate mysteriously abstained to deny Sepp Blatter the tie-break vote, which would have gone to South Africa? As I said, wild.
Anyone watching the women's world cup?
I will try to catch a game or two, but as I mentioned in an earlier post, this is a very busy time for my other favourite sports. Wimbledon is coming in just three weeks, and Super Rugby play-offs are just around the corner.

Might watch a game or two that Sweden play but otherwise these few weeks will be the period where I don't watch any football. Will pick up when silly season is in full gear and the next season draw closer
