I watch alot of NHL I know their transfer system involves swapping players rather than cash for players and their contracts definately work a bit differently but its so complicated its ridiculous. I think if a system like the one used in North America was brought in the threat of the big teams forming a breakaway league would be dragged out again.

Apparently Cole and Sheringham didn't speak at all but to be honest I assume its like that at pretty much every club especially at the highest level with all the different languages. Its only a problem if they hate each other and still insist on talking like the Van Nistleroy/Ronaldo situation. Even if you have played yourself at any level I'm sure theres guys you wouldn't ****** on if they were on fire yet you played with them anyway. Part of the problem may be player power now too many players with too much power saying things like "I don't want him here get rid of him" it takes a strong manager.

I had a scouse based laugh earlier when they wheeled some ex players out to have a right pop at Torres it was undignified to say the least. I've also noticed that every time theres Liverpool news John Aldridge pops up on Sky Sports News standing in the exact same spot outside Anfield. I've come to the conclusion that he just stands there all the time hoping someone will come talk to him.

Gary Neville has retired its both a sad and happy time for me. Hes a United legend and the best English rightback of his generation and our very own top class tw@t so its sad to see him retire. But he was tarnishing his own reputation this last few years trying to play rightback at his age, its no position for a 36 year old who can't stay fit for more than a few weeks at a time.

Andres Iniesta>Messi>Xavi>Christiano Ronaldo>WesleySneijder>Bastian Schweinsteiger(*Arjen Roben hes's perma injured most of the time so wtf ) = MIDFIELD OFFENSE

Ramos>Piqet>Ashley Cole>Carles Puyol (*maybe Phillip Lahm instead of puyol bc of age) =DEFENSE

Manuel Neuer = GOALKEEPER

My Dreamteam

Best existing team atm is FC Barcelona

Hm...that news about Gary Neville was a bit sudden. Didn't know until you mentioned it Druss.

He has always been solid so far as I know for club and country. What's funny is how some people take a pop at him when he plays for England and yet he was still better than anyone else for the position. Even now Johnson doesn't look like he's a cert for the team. But I think it's his partnership with the oft derided Beckham that really made that right-hand side a threat to any team they played against.

Injuries took their toll which is always a shame. I would also bring up Dean Ashton on that note.

I heard Dean Ashtons name mentioned on tv today but couldn't pick up what they were talking about.

Neville has been a great player for us but he has lost his pace and has been a serious liability for us this last couple of years. It was his runs off the ball that got Beckham the space to cross most of the time. His hatred of Scousers and overly sexual celebration against liverpool will go down in legend.

Just read about the Dean Ashton thing. Out of court settlement concerning his career ending injury while on England duty.

Odd timing as I didn't even know about that at the time I brought up his name. *Puzzled*

Speedy Eadie also had his career cut short too....on the verge of the England squad also when it happened (sorry, had to a get a Norwich bit in somewhere didn't I? lol)...

Anyway, yes your right on the mercanary things, what always bemuses me is, players telling the club (Rooney and Torres again come to mind) telling the club what they should do rofl...good job I don't own a football club, they only response the twits would get from me would be:

(Me) - What exactly do i pay for you for?

(Twit) - For playing foortball guv and scoring goals.

(Me) - Exactly laddy, your not fecking intelligent enough for anything else, so don't tell me how to run my business and how about I don't tell you which side of the goalkeeper to put the ball eh?

Seriously, anyone would think that some of these morons actually ran the clubs...

So we have learned that OBaka is mildly psychic or has an unnatural connection to Dean Ashton. Didn't he start off at Norwich? He looked like he was going to be some player for a while. Its always a shame, the only plus these guys get is that their legend then gets built up and they become much better than they actually were.

See Auto I would plan ahead for just such an incident if I was an owner and I didn't have Sir Alex with his hairdryer or David Moyes with his stare of doom managing my team I would have Duncan Ferguson as Director of Player Relations. My only response to such incidends would be "I think you need to take this up with Duncan and here take him this note while your headed there anyway." That note would simply say "Ferguson ya big bag of sh*te, do one!" Thus ending the problem. Permanently.

Dean Ashton started out at Crewe before Norwich got him if memory serves. And if only psychic powers worked for the lottery....

Ah yes, Darren Eadie. I knew someone who championed his cause quite a few years ago (going back a bit mind you).

I like the idea of Director of Player Relations. Who else might be good for such a role? Certainly want individuals who have a way with people. John Terry at Chelsea having just thought of a particular bit in Mock the Week.

John Terry doesn't have the terror factor, no ones afraid of him. I'd fight him in a heartbeat, Duncan Ferguson on the other hand would leave me running off to hide somewhere.

Um the only other person I can think of off the top of my head is Roy Keane. Player comes in for a meeting and gets told I'll think about it. Few hours later they look out the window and find Keano standing in their front garden in the rain with an axe just staring at them holding their list of demands...

I'd second Roy Keane for that post! What about his chief adversary at Arsenal, Vieira? Or does he lack that fear factor now?

Oh, with Terry I had in mind the threat of him...er....how to put this....meddling in the relationships of the players. Ah...I see the drawback. My bad. :P

What about players who have had a slightly questionable attitude either on the pitch or off of it?

I dunno, was Vieira considered scary? I'd have been more worried about Keown, but mostly because he looked like a big curly headed monkey. I'll never forget the night at Highbury when Keano made Vieira his b*tch, I don't think he ever recovered from the terror that was inflicted upon him.

Ah I see where your going with Terry I'm not sure about the effect of that approach though lol.

What kind of questionable attitude? Like Glen Johnson being caught stealing a toilet seat?

Well a certain Mr. Gerrard's little episode for 'defending himself' comes to mind. (Ah...Liverpool themed....)

Vieira's a pretty tall guy as most of the Arsenal team were back then. Sometimes size alone can intimidate, but also handy to be genuinely scary. Oooo...Chris Coleman when he's mad; that's some stare he has.

Wasn't Terry convicted of assault a long while back? (Had a check, back in 2002 it seems.) The sort of person who could put people in their place if need be.

As for Johnson, perhaps if someone was using that toilet seat at the time....

Don't think this proposed direction would take in the modern game though (as fun as it is to speculate who could do the job). After Ferguson retires I can't imagine many managers would wield the hairdryer; molly coddled players might also start complaining about their human rights or something.

I seem to recall Terry being in court a few times, its always when he has a gang with him though. Wasn't there something about one of them distracted a bouncer and the other attacked him from behind? Also something about shouting at a bunch of americans after 9/11?

That Johnson stealing your toilet seat from under you scenario is truly frightening.

I can see David Moyes being as frightening as Sir Alex you know, the way the eyes bulge out of his skull. I'd say he would be able to poke you with them from the other side of the dressing room, thats pretty terrifying.

Isn't there a few strikers in the Championship who have done time in recent years? I know Marlon King and Lee Hughes but I think theres someone else too.

Wouldn't surprise me. There's also Joey Barton as well.

Going back to the Tevez thing and nobody will have those sort of people, I think Barton is an example of a club giving individuals deemed bad that chance. To be fair to Barton, on the pitch he's done a pretty good job this season.

David Moyes, yeah. Good choice. But since he's already a manager with that capability he'd have no need for a Director of Personal Relations. Teams who have a 'head coach' rather then a 'manager' I can see needing more backroom staff like that.

With Joey Barton you can write it into his contract that if he gets up to any of his naughty business then he doesn't get paid. He also seems to be someone who is atleast trying to get away from that sort of thing. Tevez I'd say is different in you know almost exactly whats going to happen. Your right though there will always be a club out there willing to overlook things and give these guys a chance.

Maybe try the John Gregory approach and just threaten the players with being shot if they mouth off. One of my favourite quotes was when Dwight Yorke told him he wanted a transfer he said "If I had a gun I would have shot him." The world needs more visionaries like John Gregory.

I'm looking forward to the Chelsea match on Sunday despite Chelsea-Liverpool games being traditionally terrible to watch. Change of managers and players will hopefully change that. Our unbeaten run is starting to make me nervous too, teams tend to do badly when lengthy unbeaten runs come to an end. We are due a loss soon and Wolves are due a win, not overly confident about tomorrow night. The mighty Norwich are away to Burnley too, I've started following the Championship now in the hope of seeing Leeds fail to get promoted.

I like how Sky Sports News now announce when Phil Thompson is going to be on and openly state they are going to wind him up about Liverpool.

That's a shame Auto. Mind you I've never even been to Carrow Road. Only ever attended one footy match and that was a friendly at Old Trafford (Man Utd, obviously, against Inter Milan) with a friend.

Norwich should be safe from relegation now after surpassing the 50 points mark; let's see how we fare for the rest of the season. Nottingham Forest though look dangerous when you consider their position and games played.

As for Man Utd they're still looking good. 5 points clear isn't bad, but they'll definitely can't really afford to draw many or lose a game (true of all teams really) especially with the chasing pack close(ish) behind. If they can grind out the results it could be a record 19th league trophy. That'll break Liverpool's 'record'. 'Record' because Man Utd have equaled it at the moment so it isn't exclusive to Liverpool.

I've only been over to one game too and it was at Goodison Park back when Cantona was suspended. Lee Sharpe was playing for United if I remember correctly, it was that long ago. Haven't been able to afford it since. It also involved a trip to Bury which was one of the strangest nights of my life, Bury apparently has its own force of vigilantes.

5 points is only 2 defeats away from being 1 point off the top and the way we have been playing on the road 2 defeats isn't out of the question. I think its going to go right down to the wire, looks like the battle for second and the play off spots in the Championship will be the same.

Hehe....I was actually born in Bury Hospital lol.....

and yeah...it is a very strange place indeed....I've never been back there since :P

As for Carrow Road, it's a marvelous ground...last time was there was 12 months ago, in 5 feet of snow.....and a blizzard gale....

And me and my mate (who lives near Norwich) were in the Barclay.....GOD DAMN were we cold....its a damn good job we won lmao....

Maybe thats the reason for the vigilantes, incase the prince of thieves returns...

The United match I went to was like a school trip you had to pay £75 to go which was quite the deal considering we went for the whole weekend. But United got beat 1-0 thanks to a Duncan Ferguson goal. I was only about 13 so don't remember much of it, other than a girl playing footsy with me and me naively responding "What you want?! I'm trying to eat!!"

Had plans to go to the United-Spurs game this year but joblessness befell us. Could go to Celtic matches pretty easily but I refuse to given that A) its Scottish football and B) Paddy McCourt used to play with us years ago and I refuse to admit hes better than me. Even though he clearly is. Bah!!

Tickets aren't even that expensive but flights and accomodation are a killer.

The ones that follow teams on European away trips aswell as following their country away and then domestic away games have always been a bit of a mystery to me. How do you get a job that not only lets you afford that but also gives you the time off to make it possible? The only job I can think of is footballer and maybe high end drug dealer.
