He is now anyway after Benitez's conversion.
Mind you, Ferguson converted Alan Smith from a striker to a midfielder.
Any other conversions we know of?

I just prefer my women not to look like they have overdosed.
Evra started out as a winger and got converted to a leftback, Bale went the opposite way. Ruud Gullit(I've forgotten how to spell his name) got converted from a striker to a sweeper if I remember correctly. Last two I can remember right now are Bergkamp and Henry who both started out as wingers.
Alan Smith got converted into a midfielder and completely lost the ability to play in either position, which is an unusual trait.

Missed that. But then I tend to result and stat watch.
On the conversion thing: I remember reading about some players in Football Manager a long while back (great for info for that time if you ask me) and Kenwynne Jones was a full-back. Curious conversion.
I think I've heard/read somewhere that Ashley Cole played as a striker when he was young.
Then we had Barthez who fancied himself as an outfield player....

Just saw that Bellamy goal and your right Funkcase ****** is the word, goal of the season contender.
I heard that some managers actually use Football Manager for scouting players, Mourinho was mentioned as one of them. I doubt theres any truth in it but stranger things have happened. Can't quite picture Kenwyne Jones as a fullback though, I've enough trouble picturing him as a striker these days.
I think I heard that about Cole too, maybe I'm confusing him and Evra or maybe they both got converted back.
I think the biggest transformation has been Peter Cech though. He transformed from world class keeper into complete pansy. How long ago did the Stephen Hunt thing happen? He's STILL wearing that bloody helmet, he gets knee'd in the head once by accident(ahem) and now wears a helmet for the rest of his life? It annoys the hell out of me. He hasn't been the same keeper since he started wearing it either, possibly because he feels like an utter clown.

Cech: yeah. Mind you I don't think the Stephen Hunt thing was as bad as his subsequent form in the European Championships when playing for his country. During that game you could literally see Cech's stature as a top goalkeeper crumble before your eyes. I don't think he ever recovered from that one game. The injury would probably make him think twice about some saves like 50-50s, which you can't really blame him; but he's definitely lost it on even the simpler things.
You're probably right about the helmet to an extent. It probably acts as some sort of psychological barrier which prevents him to play as he used to. If he can do without it then perhaps he might get back to his best.
It does remind me of that situation with Jackie Chan and the head injury he sustained when making...Armour of God I think, as it literally left him with a hole in his head. Still made some cracking fight scenes after that before old age got to him though.

Its official then Jackie Chan is better than Peter Cech, didn't he do that by jumping from a castle wall onto a tree? I think he did alot of the scenes in Rumble in the Bronx with a broken leg too, he broke it jumping onto the hovercraft.
When most people get injured they shrug it off and come back, but Cech doesn't seem to do that he dwells on it. Could be why he never got over that world cup performance too, he has trouble shrugging things off.
United and City on Saturday so Tevez has started with the comments already, he opened up with "no one loves the city shirt more than me." by the end of the week he will be accusing Sir Alex of things again and pointing fingers at United.

"silly Tevez". That's actually analytic. The 'silly' is actually superfluous so only 'Tevez' is required; much like saying 'male bachelor' I think.
EDIT: technically Adebayor is on loan.

I think theres a word that goes after Tevez that starts with p and ends with k theres a ric in the middle too. Also technically Adebayor isn't a good player either.
Did I just see Defoe in the England squad? Whats that about? Also its kind of amusing that this new home nations tournament is getting hardly any publicity because England aren't in it.... also because it involves 4 crap teams.
Anyone else hear the statements coming from that John Henry guy and think he is being coached on exactly what to say so as not to offend the Liverpool "fans"? Its downright creepy the way he is saying things designed to manipulate the mindless simpletons.

Various statements about how he didn't realise how big a club it is, how they couldn't move from Anfield because theres nowhere else in the world like the Kop and that he has never seen a club that loves its manager the way Liverpool fans love Dalglish, some nonesense about pass and move and one about their only agenda is winning things which I found particularly hilarious.
Seems to have worked if the comments section in this is anything to go by..

You have to love marketing spin. People will be believe anything as long as it's a compliment.
I think I read they're considering redeveloping Anfield rather than move as well. Wonder how long before fans start complaining about that.

I don't think they will complain, its not Hicks and Gillette(the best a man can get) or Hodgson involved so they won't question these new messiah's. They are a simple minded folk.
Yay for midseason pointless friendly internationals on my TV being all boring and stuff. The Ireland - Wales game is on and the stadium is about as full as Denerim market place.

I think thats going to be what they say about the Signature Edition too.
Anyone seen the whole furore about El Hadji Diouf going on up in Scotland? Its hilarious and just shows how small time they are.

From the moment he arrived they started sniping at him and trying to get stories. When Brown scored with apparently no provocation other than it was Diouff he ran right up and celebrated in his face, getting himself a yellow card to go with his goal. When El Hadji Diouff is the biggest star in your league something is very wrong. Its like McDonalds being the closest thing in your city to a 5 star restaraunt.

Maybe there's a mandate or something going round that the sports pages could do with some news.
