Lol I had a right chuckle at that. Delusional scousers they are claiming "this is our year" again despite being awful last year. They are a complete joke summed up by Gerrard and statements like that.Noir201 wrote...
Well, i hope the premiership/league, isn't another drab and boring grind like last season was, alot of the games was just awfull, and it's classed as the best league in the world.....

This youtube clip sums Gerrard up nicely (note the dive against Bolton is possibly the worst dive I've ever seen) I think he is the worst diver in the Premier League, not that he does it the most, he is just awful at it.....

I didn't hear Ganso mentioned at all just Neymar and Pato. They were pronouncing things strangely and kept talking about Landon Donovan from what little I heard. I had to turn it off because I fear new things.RageGT wrote...

Brazil looked excellent from what little I saw though.

so which team is the best team of Brazil?

Well, there's really a bunch of great teams here. There is no The Best. It's not like Spain where there are only two, or England with what, 4 teams that are always the National Champions. Italy used to have more top teams but lately it seems to be a one team country.
Brazilian National titles that I will mention are counted only since 1971 with its new format. There were previous tournaments. I think FIFA website or Wikipedia has a list with all champs since early 20th century.
From São Paulo State, we have
São Paulo FC (6 national Titles, 3 World Club Titles (against Milan, Barcelona and Liverpool, 6 Libertadores finals), Corinthians (my team =) - 4 National titles, 1st FIFA Club World Champion with the new format in 2000),
Palmeiras (4 National titles - 1 World club final - Lost to Man UTD for the joy of Corinthians fans!),
Santos (2 national titles, 2 World Club Titles in the '60s against Benfica and Milan - Pele's club in those days)
From Rio de Janeiro: (all with national titles)
Flamengo - 5 national and 1 world title against Liverpool
Vasco da Gama
Fluminense
Botafogo
From Minas Gerais: (same)
Cruzeiro
Atlético Mineiro
From Rio Grande do Sul: (same)
Internacional - world title against Barcelona in 2006 - next champ on Libertadores to face Inter Milano late this year (won first leg as visitor tonight 2x1 against Chivas Guadalajara in México)
Grêmio - world champs as well, against Hambug.
There are more teams that won the Brazilian Championship and are still great teams. Every Brazilian championship has at least 10 out of the 20 teams on A League as possible champions and during the tournament, there's rarely one team that is with a huge lead with half way to go like many other countries.

Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos have played good for your team. It seems Ronaldo is going to retire, is that true?

Yes there are good teams, but most of their Titles are from old times of football (as you know every country is upgrading his football like Japan, Switzerland it becomes harder every year to achieve championship ).

Not sure what you mean about their titles are from old times of football? the World Club championship? Actually, after Santos and Pelé's titles in the 60's, only in the 80's a Brazilian team won that title again. And since them, lots of them with latest in 2005 and 2006. This year we'll have Inter de Porto Alegre vs Inter de Milano in Dubai.
Roberto Carlos is playing his finest. He should have been in the WC team! He and André Santos (another Corinthians player now in Turkey) are the two best in their position.
As for Ronaldo, you have to watch to understand. After 429 days without a game because of his latest injury while playing for AC Milan, he chose Corinthians to play for in yet another come back and see how it went:
He's supposed to play until the end of 2011. And he's still the best!

Brazilian teams were never good at Libertadores up to the 80's (except Santos twice in the 60's) specially because football was the last thing seen in those days. It was war. Uruguay and Argentina's team would do msot dirty tricks in and out the field to win their home matches. But from the 80's on there is a clear supremacy off Brazilian teams and football (alternating with Argentina's teams) since there was live TV now and things had to become more clean or FIFA would punish the teams.
About the video, blame it on YouTube! Try again. It has all 2009 Ronaldo's goals and some of them are unmatched masterpieces!

Ronaldo is still a great player but he looks like he is missing the speed that made him so deadly. Still fantastic skill and dribbling though, what age is he now?
I think he's 34 this year. Note that one of the goals in that video, in the Sao paulo state championship semi-final against São Paulo, Ronaldo won a long race against a 10 years younger defender to score in the 2x0 win for Corinthians. (Which later defeated Santos in the final with that amazing over the head goal in the 3x1 first match win.
He still has the explosion and speed but the speed of his thoughts is unmatchable. That's the speed that really makes him special.

heh.. I'm Leo Alli because the guy at the customs in Brazil 1911 changed the name of my grandpa who had just arrived from Lebanon at the age of 11. (I guess his name was Ali something and they changed it to Vicente Alli). Never got to know him though. Leo is from the other grandpa who was son of a Portuguese couple. =)
