Tell us Fabio, what do you think of Terry's latest comments? Attempting to remove Rio Ferdinand from the team...

Do you know I would love it if Capello said "Yes Dawson he has made a position iz own, no? He will partner Rio Ferdinand, if he agrees to talk to me, yes?" I would love it, love it!

Ah cheers anyway Modjo. I thought it was supposed to be on last night, thats why I couldn't find it, caught some of the second half today and it went about as well as could be expected.

Chicharito has been a hell of a bargain at £6m but he still has a ways to go before he is the finished product. His passing and hold up play can be very sloppy, if you watch him then you will see alot of his passes go to players at around thigh height or are just generally very sloppy. He will get there though.

My favourite moment of the World Cup was when Ghana beat the US and the reaction on here. It was comedy gold.

not goin to lie, reading the comments in a capello voice is pretty enjoyable :) yeah, personally have only seen scotland play once vs denmark, as you can imagine, there is less selection for european fixtures. (it balances out with central and south american football) definately, chicharito still has a ways to go. (this is gong to sound crazy, but once again, i don't want to jynx him by saying something good about him)

superstitions aside, its funny to think of the reactions here after the ghana match :D the u.s. really were better then what they showed at the wc. at the confederations cup the year before, yes, they had gotten really lucky to make it through, but they had also played really well. now, time to read up on this dilemna in the england squad people so speak of

One dilemma stems from the misguided belief that we have a divine right to win every major tournament we are in no matter who is playing. *Cough*

How many 'years of hurt' has it been now? It'll go on a lot longer unless some fundamentals are changed in our game I think.

I'm all excited to see what happens when Gerrard comes back. Will it be another attempt at getting him and Lampard to play together this time in a 4-3-3? I hope so, so I can return to my usual laughter and derision.

Maybe Capello will revert back to a 4-4-2 when Gerrard can play again.

Maybe, he will but you would like to think he would give the team that did well against Wales a chance against decent opposition to see how they do.

They are making a huge deal out of this whole racism in the Scotland - Brazil game, even Neymar doesn't seem too bothered by it but the way the press are going on you'd think someone was shot.

Its allover Sky Sports News and the websites I've been on since Sunday. Apparently he claimed he was racially abused and one of the Scotland fans threw a banana at him. Now they are going all out to say it was infact a German fan in the Brazil end.

God I hate international weeks, especially at this stage of the season. So many matches squeezed into the next month or two and they break things up like this, they would be better playing these games in the summer. Two or three weeks of qualifiers in the summer maybe. Its squeaky bum time in the domestic game and its on hold for this nonesense.

The whole Neymar thing sure has hit the headlines, but the thing is...no-one seemed to have anything concrete to go on until the announcement of a German teenager being responsible. If it wasn't a banana I would assume he wouldn't have made that accusation?

As for the press...I assume it help sells a few copies and gets more readers as a result.

I don't see the big deal, players get abused and stuff is thrown at them all the time. I once had a bike thrown at me while taking a corner. They need to man up. Banana? Pfft.

I read earlier that Neymar has said its always been his dream to play for Chelsea. *CoughmoneygrabberCough*

Don't players tend to say that when trying to make the transfer happen? I think Torres said something similar about Liverpool, that he was joining his boyhood favourite club or something (badge kissing was probably also mandatory).

On that particular issue, I think Alan Shearer was as loyal as a player could be. He chose to go to Newcastle rather than Man Utd, didn't he? You don't really see many sticking with their boyhood clubs these days (sounding old again....).

I have to second your comment on Shearer, he would have gotten better wages and a bigger chance to win something if he had gone to Man Utd.

I seem to recall that Shearer didn't manage to get into Newcastle's academy because he didn't cut it as a goalkeeper... I might be wrong there though.

He hated United, he had other chances to join us before he went to Newcastle. He was a strange one though, he celebrated winning the league with Blackburn by going home to creosote or paint his fence.

Now that you mention it Natt I have a vague recollection of him taking over in goal at one point. Not sure if I'm imagining it or not though.

Shearer as a goalie...hm...wonder if there's more on that out there. Might have to try and find out.

I do remember Phil Jagielka going in goal for...can't remember his previous club...Sheffield Utd I think. He seems pretty handy in goal. Wonder what their goalkeeping stats are in Football Manager...

I remember having to stick Wayne Rooney in goal in Football Manager at one point. He had the least crappy keeper stat of all my players and I never name a sub keeper on the bench. So its a situation thats happened to me more than once.

John O'Shea ended up in nets for us I recall, I think he has played just about every position on the pitch at some point or another.

Then you have those keepers who fancy themselves outfield. Jorge Campos used to occassionally play as a striker.

A mountain bike at that and by someone in my own team.

He was a wee bit of a mentalist and tended to react badly to most things, especially being dropped as we learned from previous experience. So when he was told he was dropped I was the one that was left to tell him because apparently he was afraid of me. We got into a "heated exchange" over it which didn't end too well and he left. So midway through the second half we got a corner and as per usual it was left to me to whip it in. I'm standing waiting for our defenders to push forward when I hear someone shout something like "watch your back" or "look out" I turned just in time to see a bike hurtling towards me and bouncing off the ground just infront of me before hitting me, leaving a big scrape/cut on my leg. Mild fisticuffs followed before I came back and took the corner.

No one knows where he actually got the bike from because it wasn't his, we assume that in his demented rage he stole it from someone. He once threatened to knife a guy for subbing him, then attempted to stab him with an unbroken bottle. He was a wee bit special.

I've a bad history of interactions with spectators.

for real! lol, man that was pretty crazy! (maybe later you can share a story involving a spectator :) about neymar, it does sound a little like they are perhaps making a big deal out of it to have a story. yeah, the players kind of have to get the tough skin, but it still is a bit unsettling to hear some of the stuff they yell out at the players. (they usually have some beers in them, but it still looks so bad on the guy hurling out the insults)

on another note, did anybody see the ghana england match? any other friendlies?

Theres so much stuff being shouted at players and managers but what can anyone do? Other than going all Cantona on someone they have to just take it. I don't see why racist abuse is always highlighted more than other abuse, the stuff sung about dead fans and players and what Arsene Wengers goes through at Old Trafford is worse in my opinion.

Didn't see any friendlies I was watching the Northern Ireland - Slovenia game and NI throwing away another 2 points. Was surprised to hear Welbeck made his England debut though.

You catch any action on your side of the world? I was surprised to hear that the MLS goes on despite international matches.

yeah, there really is nothing you can do. maybe racism gets more coverage because historically, racism has been such a big issue, but you're right, those players and managers hear everything under the sun.

how were northern island and slovenia? slovenia are definitely beatable opponents. what went wrong with ni?

yeah, well england didn't look anything special to be honest. granted, it wasn't their starting squad, but they didn't look threatening. andy carroll had a good finish, and there were flashes here and there, but generally nothing special. ghana played with just gyan up front, and looked much better in the 2nd half, though they had some wasted chances as well. ahhh, i don't remember welbeck's performance, but thats only cause i'm generally unfamiliar with the young guys. if the match is online, ill definitely see how he did.

also, its interesting because in england, it seems like some of the prestige and passion that goes into the national has been lost, but to the rest of the world, playing (and beating) england is still a pretty big deal. throwing this in, but could some of the disillusionment stem from the fact that they haven't won or done well in recent major tournaments?

for the rest of friendlies, only got to see the highlights. (i swear, there is more school work in the spring semester :) chile continue to play well. mexico and the u.s had late matches, so had to miss those. you know what, im going to at least watch the highlights and see how some of the other matches went.

yeah, right now the mls are in their off season. the season begins around may or june, and ends in the fall, so in between its not a problem. as you know, football in the u.s. is still not as popular as other sports here, so there isn't as much pressure or scrutiny from the press on the national team.

What went wrong with NI is that they are awful and from a tiny nation with a terrible infrastructure. When theres guys coming off the bench who played in the same team as me theres something very wrong. Should have beat Slovenia though, there was chances to win it.

I struggle to bring myself to watch any mid season internationals, if its not an actual tournament then it holds no meaning for me. Maybe its because I have no investment in it outside United.

I think its because the England team is full of absolute scum, its worse than the Mos Eisley spaceport. I imagine they are a very hard collective to get behind. Also they have only ever won one tournament ever and never really came close to winning any others. I didn't think any nation that understands football would really think beating England is a big deal.

The way the tv here was going on about Beckhams match for L.A. Galaxy the other night I assumed the season had kicked off. You'd think he actually was a great player the way they go on.

Mid season international matches takes away the rythm from the leagues, it's fine if it is a tournament as you say Druss... though Wenger never agrees with the African tournament.

England feels like a reflection on todays football, overpayed and overrated players that only cares about their paycheck. They only play internationals to get more money and to satisfy their own egos.

Well Beckham WAS a good player wasn't he? He seemed more honest than other players anyway.

Must be really fun to be you Druss, manic women stabbing you in the back, got more injuries than Jackie Chan (or not) and angry teamamtes throwing bikes at you....

As I have heard, back in the day football was known for its confrontations rather than the actual game of football itself.

Also, only just found out about Gareth Southgate's role in the FA. Sounds interesting and hopefully it facilitates a shift in how football is played here. Quite frankly, if the long ball is our greatest strength then they really should have got someone like Sam Allardyce as manager.

Yeah, I know.

Or is that a general reaction to Allardyce being a manager? :P
