Norwich win 6-0! Woohoo! Makes me want to stay up for the highlights for that tonight (probably fall asleep before that though).

Dalglish vs. Hodgson: *heh* Enough on that I think.

Benitez: one part genius, ninety-nine parts....? To be fair, he wouldn't be the first manager to win trophies with 'someone else's' team. But he has had a fair while to build his own team.

Salary caps: I think the idea has been put about for quite a while now, and I think Platini is trying to enforce some sort of cap so clubs are financially sound. Or at the very least they have to be if they want to play in Europe; where this will leave Man City who surely do not generate that much of their own revenue I have no idea. *cough*

That's enough waffle for now.

I know Obaka......2 hatricks.....wonder how many times that has been done before? Might email Mr Tyler and ask him :P

I was half worried before kick off.....new manger syndrome and all that, but hoped Lambert had prepared the troops adequetly beforehand.....looks like he did lol, though the sending off surely helped us too.

And swansea lost (guffaws quietly) hehe..... 4 points clear in second, and yes, I know second is not top, but I really don't see us catchign QPR in all honesty, so I will HAPPILY accept second come the end of the season.

Bring on Swansea next Saturday....big game!

The West Brom - Liverpool result was a thing of beauty.

Norwich are joint top scorers in the championship now too. Dirty Leeds won again though ruining my so far almost perfect weekend results wise. Hopefully Reading and Forest can leapfrog them.

Rooney is in bother for being picked up cursing by a tv mic apparently after he scored. Words fail me...

Its not a salary cap Platini is trying to bring in its something along the lines of your only allowed to spend as much as you make and rich owners can only pump in £30m extra a season or something like that. Theres alot of complications in it and I can't remember them all.

Wait til you see the lump on Nasri's head in MotD, it left me cringing. Almunia is having a bit of a nightmare too.

Unlikely Forrest leapfrog Leeds now....they ona downward spiral at moment...and Leeds just battered them lol.

as for Platini......can only spend what you make? How the feck is that fair? So utd can spend a half billion very year....but Norwich (as a good example) can only spend about 8 million?

Thats really evening out the field isnt it?

Stop ruining my dreams lol. I can't be dealing with Leeds getting promoted, it will have an adverse effect on the quality of my life.

I'm not sure if it was exactly that, but its along those lines. Its to stop billionaire owners buying league titles. It also has the side effect of keeping the elite elite. So its a big UEFA bonus. It was a while ago I heard of this proposal so I'm sketchy on the details.

Wasn't there a thing about the wages bill can only be a certain percentage of the income of the club? Maybe I'm getting things mixed up again (as usual).

Pretty sure that one of the things about Platini's proposal is that if a club is not financially sound (in whatever way the proposal sets) then they can't participate in UEFA competitions. Wonder if that will be enforced though if my memory is correct.

But yeah, I do recall that owners are only allowed to pump so much money into the club; and it also has to be given to the club and is not in the form of the loan or something to that effect. So a club like Man City will have problems continuing (as it would seem to me), as I have doubts as to whether their actual revenue can even account for their expenditure; and then what the owner puts in...part of that allowed amount goes to wages, I don't think it leaves a great deal for other things.

Clubs like Man Utd have earned that status over the years, and even Chelsea were slowly climbing the table even under Bates.

Autolycus: what if...QPR were docked points?

Nice result for Norwich, I wish you a lot of success should you get promoted.

Looks like Hodgson got one back on Liverpool... well isn't that funny?

Arsenal have been held to a 1-1 draw too. Great day for United.

I heard the wages thing too Obaka but I wasn't sure if it was part of Platini's proposal. Not being allowed to enter UEFA competitions is definately one of the main points of it. I'm willing to bet theres ways around most of it. I think Man City are the main reason its being brought it, I can almost garantee it won't curb Real Madrid's spending one bit.

Maybe we should all take another moment to laugh at Liverpool?

LOL 0-0 Druss, but still even with games in hand for Arsenal and Chelsea 'twas a good day for Utd. Arsenal really disappointed me and Nasri looked like a pineapple after his massive bump.

Hodgson beating Liverpool,

Also what's up with Leeds, I have to be missing something obvious no?

LMAO so it was. Oops. Still...a mouths a mouth.....I mean a draws a draw...

Nah your not missing anything. Theres alot of Leeds "fans" here, they have been quietly not following football for years and now that the good times are back there they are again like a plague of white shirted parasites. My mate being a prime example, I heard him remark last christmas to a guy that "I used to follow Leeds but I've no interest anymore" he has been saying that for about 5 years. Suddenly now hes the biggest Leeds fan in the world again, its all we and us. He is just one example of a large scale former Leeds fan resurrection.

I jokingly accuse Norwich fans of doing that on here but Leeds fans are actually at it. To me thats utterly disgusting, its like marrying a woman when she is slim and rich then leaving her when she puts on a bit of weight and you've spent most of her money. Few years later she has slimmed down and got a bit of cash about her again and you go crawling back as if nothing had happened. Utterly sickens me and I never want to see Leeds promoted again.

TBH Druss I see a bit of it in other fans regarding abandoning team and then supporting them when they get a bit of success.

Got a mate who 'used' to be a Wolves fan way back when and says he doesn't support them anymore cause of stuff like they're s*** and not in the premier league and usually roots for teams like Utd or Chelsea and funnily enough when Wolves won the Championship and promotion what 2-3 years ago guess who he started supporting again?

Convenient for the person watching it on TV to decide who they want to support and when to support them, see this all too often.

I know it happens Sparroww but most of the Leeds fans round here are people I hate anyway and my mate is particularly annoying. To the point of texting people with Leeds songs every time they score. If they get back in the premier league I fear I'll end up killing him. When Leeds beat United in the cup last year I got a text that if I hadn't been 2 hours away and severely hung over I'd have hospitalised him, I think another mate actually did hit him in work the next day. Its a personal prejudice to me that I'm trying to take a moral high ground on lol.

Haha yeah one of my mates is a mega Bolton fan and that's all he talks about whenever I'm out with mates which is doubly annoying cause he only talks to me 'bout them cause rest of my mates aren't big footy fans. Sometimes I want no-football days 'cause of him it drives me mad.

As for Leeds' promotion I honestly see it as QPR and Norwich as automatic promotion and Swansea as winner of play-offs. Leeds and Norwich can't be promoted in consecutive years, lol it simply can't happen.

I normally don't mind it and can take the banter, I was the only United fan that turned up to football after Liverpool beat us 4-1 a couple of seasons ago. But theres something about that whole situation that drives me to rage.

Yeah I agree on QPR and Norwich. I wouldn't even try to predict the playoffs though, its so tight and anyone can have a bad day or an extremely lucky day.

Even harder is predicting who will replace them in the championship. I kinda hope Villa go down for the sheer comedy value of it and hope Wolves and Blackpool stay up as its not the same without Big Mick and Ollie's interviews.

Trying to predict who will get promoted is part of the fun with the Championship especially at this stage, more interesting than the Premier League race at this precise time, Reading have sneaked past Forest into 6th and of course there's QPR's possible deduction.

And yeah MOTD won't be the same without McCarthy's anecdotes of the month and Blackpool have been impressive enough this year that they deserve to stay there another year at least.

My picks to go down: Wigan, Blackburn and Birmingham.

Brave calls. Its so tight and when I look at it every team has something going for them that could keep them up.

I'll follow your example though and stick my neck out: Wigan, Blackburn and West Ham to go down.

about the salary cap, how about having one where all teams can spend no more then a certain amount on salaries, say 200, 300 million?

lol....oh the fair weather fans :) the bane of all the loyal fans that follow the team through the lows as well as the highs.

I think they've had a salary cap in the Australian league for years... wonder how that is going?

My prediction on who will go down: Wigan, Wolves and Aston Villa.

I think a salary cap coming in now would leave alot of teams with big problems, players refusing to take wage cuts or refusing to leave as any team they join won't be able to match their huge wages. It will probably be introduced gradually and be finally implemented around 4 years after its anounced to give most of the big contracts time to run out. Something needs to be done, the fact we are paying Rooney £200k a week to consistantly drag the club through the mud leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

I now think Rafa Benitez has been reading this thread and has taken OBaka's comments about him onboard...

Autolycus: saw the highlights this morning on iPlayer. Thanks for the offer though. Also...noted on the park thing. I'll know who it is if I see something like that.

You know...if Norwich and Leeds do go up at the same time...I expect dire things to occur that would put galactic extinction to shame.

Let me just have a moment here....

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

That was for West Brom beating Liverpool. We haven't had a laugh at Liverpool for a while on this thread. Well, not much anyway.

Wages cap: I would doubt Real Madrid would be affected. Blatter would see to it that they aren't. (More conspiracy?) Mind you, with Real's world stature there's probably enough there anyway I would suspect.

It was a good day for Man Utd results-wise without a doubt. Some very...odd decisions during the game though.

Fans: who are more annoying? Those who are vocal during their team's successes or those who support whoever are successful? (I've known quite a few 'glory hunters' in my time.)

Relegation: oo...too close to call. One good result changes the whole complexion. Wouldn't like to be a betting man in that situation.

Both are as annoying if you ask me.

But perhaps these are the worst kind:

A little by the by but here's an episode reported in today's Norwegian
Dagbladet. A party of Norwegian Manure supporters attended yesterday's
games between West Ham and Manure. Nothing special there since there are
many Manure fans across here ( I always put it down to them not knowing
any better Posted Image)

Thesefans were by some administrative error placed amongst WHU fans. Still
nothing special, you may say but when you add the fact that included in
the party were 35 child cancer sufferers from the age of 6 upwards then
the story takes on a completely new tilt.

Trouble started when the WHU fans noticed there was no jubilation from these youngsters when
the home team went 2-0 up. (they had on good advice hidden their
colours).

The home supporters started hurling abuse and threats
at the terrified kids. A closer look would have told anyone that these
kids were not in the best of health. Posted ImageOnly action, if somewhat delayed from a concerned steward prevented a major incident.

I find this disgraceful and whilst I have no sympathy for Manchester U
supporters I know only too well how unpleasant WHU fans can be. I
remember only too well being chased many years back by a violent mob
from the ground to our buses whilst the police stood there laughing.

Fortunately all these kids came away unscathed and with the last laugh result wise.
