Hm...that comment Natt reminds me of an FA Cup match that Arsenal had against Sheffield Utd I think, where the referee seemed to shove the Arsenal player away from the ball to prevent them from getting it. Could just be me ole hazy memory though.
And...Utd down at the moment. Ouchy.

Well that was another away loss that was entirely our own fault. Its almost as if we can't be arsed to try winning a match away from home.
On the Vidic handball, the only person on the pitch that saw it was Van Persie, it took two replays before it looked like he had handled it even then its not clear if his hand actually touched the ball. It probably did touch it but none of the replays I saw were clear, if its not clear then you can't give a penalty. I didn't see half time though so maybe theres an angle that clearly shows it.
He evened it up anyway with Clichy's foul on Owen, its hard to imagine a clearer penalty. Owen turned to run and Clichy actually stamped on the back of his knee to stop him. Our own fault though. Park was ball watching for the goal, it was moments after he got moved from left wing to central midfield and he hadn't picked up Ramsey yet.
A final Football Manager 11 question. Does it still require steam to register and play it? I've already got tactics, formations and signings in mind.

IIRC (don't currently have it installed) there is an offline installer.

Well...that result keeps the neutral glued. It's also given Chelsea some hope as well I'd imagine.

Hhmmm handy. Last two years I've bought it then realised I can't remember my steam log in and have to go through all the hassle of downloading and re-registering with steam just so I can play the game I paid for, bloody PC gaming....grumble! I'm a lazy bastard and that just doesn't suit my style.
Man City 2-0 up already and this looks like it could end up a hammering to the Hammers. I've a dislike of West Ham, they are a nasty club.

Why I generally refuse to buy games that 'force me' to use steam just to install it. Though most games like that I do buy, I usually bypass the steam installation (yes I know lol) if they do not come with offline installers.
But I don't recall having to do that with FM11.....though it's possible I did and just don't remember.

How is it compared to the FIFA manager? Anyone ever played both? I'd like to try a different manager for once, but I'd need to import it, it's not officially available here in Germany, EA sports has some kind of exclusive license deal.

Do they still make FIFA manager? I've never actually bought it because they can't even get season mode right in the main FIFA series, theres always something horribly broken every year so I don't trust them to make a good management game. To be honest I've never played a good management game outside of Football Manager.

Surprised anything can really go up against Football Manager on the PC. On consoles it might be a different thing, but I can't remember the last time a football management game came out on console.
Looking at the table we might want to cast our eyes on Liverpool's position. They managed to get up there again. Hm...

Would you go as far as to say next year will be their year OBaka?
I recall FM being released on the Xbox a few years ago but I doubt it sold very well. Trying to play it using a joypad seems like a mind numbing affair to me. My mate plays it on the psp and claims its perfectly playable on that.

FIFA Manager is a kids game compared to FM Merci, thats not knocking FIFA Manager....they just in two different ball parks lol.
Like comparing a Ford to a BMW....
And IIRC FM11 is PC or psp handheld only.

You do recall correctly Auto. They haven't released it on console in a couple of years other than psp ofcourse.
Balotelli just missed a sitter and instead of getting himself back onside and playing on he stood in the box looking for someone to blame thus preventing his team from playing the ball back into the box. Shocking attitude.

Ugh not a good weekend for us, added pressure on our game with Chelsea next week which I'm not looking forward to tbh.
And I lol'd at Avram's notepad blowing onto the pitch hehe, and Balotelli being Balotelli is no shock either.

You can put money on them getting a big decision their way too Sparrow. They always seem to against us. People will go on about the two penalties today and how they evened themselves out but you can see why the ref missed the Vidic one, even the commentators thought it was a header until they saw the replay then they acted incredulous that the ref didn't see it when they couldn't see it themselves. How he missed the one on Owen though....thats mystifying...
City could end up losing Tevez and Balotelli in the summer. Leaving them with Dzeko and the 3 strikers they pay well over the odds for.

A goal from Ramsey and ManUnited lost. good for Chelsea
That Hungarian from PSV is good, every team that buy him will benefit their forward well.

Oh Gomes *laughs*, Just when he seems to calm down and become more of a solid keeper he always manages to mess up. Although, the ball never completely crossed the line.

Nope.
The Vidic 'handball': having saw the highlights it still doesn't look at all clear whether he touched it; I couldn't be sure even from a slow motion replay. Hard to say. Usually depend on seeing the trajectory of the ball to make a decision, but if there was any contact it seemed inconsequential to the motion of the ball. Though I see/hear more people saying it is than not.
Still, the refereeing decisions seem to have been pretty poor in quite a few games over the weekend, with ole 'Arry bringing up the issue of goal-line technology.
Playing any tactical game on a console will always feel strange. Having no mouse is a big blow. And...too much moving slowly through the options for my liking. Though I think LMA Manager managed to get some favourable reviews back in the day.

I remember playing some management game back on the PS1 in my mates, something form Codemasters I believe. God that was a mind numbing game to play, it had some good ideas but it was just a horrible interface. I've ordered FM11 now and decided I'm probably going to manage United for the first time in about 6 years since it will probably be a challenge now. My entire formation and transfer targets so far are built around Darren Fletcher lol.
Liverpool have played alot better since Gerrard got injured. I think they will be back to mediocre for the start of next year as no one else in the league is really playing well everyone seems to be falling away. With all these teams constantly losing its left me confused as to who is winning.
My thoughts exactly on the Vidic handball. After several replays I still can't tell if he touched it so how can the ref give a penalty after one viewing? I can't even tell if he meant to touch it or if it was just an awkward dive. Van Persie who had the best view even said he couldn't see if he touched it. Comparing it to the Owen incident and saying its justice is ridiculous. Saying that though we didn't exactly deserve anything from that game.

I agree that Liverpool have the ability to creep up the table. As for winning next year, not a chance. Liverpool fans always believe that they have some god given right to the Prem League, but cant see it happening in my lifetime. Should United take this years Champs League, then they have 1 more to win, to put the scousers down once and for all.

Who else is on any sort of form? Even the teams at the top are kinda ropey. They will be found out in time. Though playing like they are now might convince the board that they don't need investment which would be counter productive and hilarious.
Can Norwich seal promotion tonight? They mentioned it on SSN but I thought it might be hyperbole.
