I think it was Millwall this Norwich target is playing for. But don't quote me on that.
Women eh? It reminds me of a few years ago around christmas time, turning up to play 4-a-side football when alot of players were snowed in a guy said he would bring his daughter to make up the numbers. We all thought he was joking but behold he turns up with this skinny stick of a girl who is about 18. We were all "You insane? She is going to get murderised!" but he insisted she would be fine.
So he picks the teams and has her on his team but there are objections and its decided she has to be on my team because no one wants to deal with one of my shots hitting her, not since the penalty incident. We start the match and she is in goal for us and bollocking me for letting fly from a ridiculous angle. When we start to realise something is up, after a while I jump in goal and let her outfield. All I can say is thank god she was on my team. She was taking the absolute ****** out of people, her dribbling and passing was ridiculously good. She spent a good hour bollocking me for my poor finishing and she did everything with this hilariously girly run. It turned out she was a Republic of Ireland under 19's international who had played at a world cup or something and was getting called up to the senior squad. Women, eh?

do you know if she is now on the senior squad druss? the highest skill level athletes i have played against are university athletes (american football and basketball). just between amateurs and university level athletes there is a considerable gap, you can only imagine what it would be like to play against the pros. http://bit.ly/AATHw
the 3rd best team in the premier league? well, thats a really close one. you could make an argument for about half the teams on there, and c'mon, we all know norwich are going to finish in the top half of the table
and beerfish, its still baffling how qatar got the world cup. the amount of resources that are going to be wasted just to hold a world cup in the desert makes no sense, and thats just one of the issues. something smells very funny about that.

Dunno if she is, Modjo. I've been injured since last May so I haven't seen the guy or heard anything. But what I heard was she was being called up back when she played, not sure if it ever happened. Oddly enough the christmas before we had one of Evertons coaches and some guy who plays for Tranmere playing to make up the numbers. Our subs are far better than the actual players lol. I played with a few players years ago who are professional now but weren't all that good back in the day.
Women run and move different from men. Even when that girl was taking the ****** she was moving very differently from the rest of us. Its difficult to describe, alot slower but with more control.
Michael Owen has been given a new contract at United. I'm forced to ask......why?

Well, I read that Blatter was voted back in. Having had a recent discussion with some friends about other stuff but sort of relates here is...wouldn't it have been funny if Blatter had run for the FIFA presidency as the sole candidate...and lost. (Never going to happen but would have been funny.)
Owen has a new contract? A bit surprised, but maybe there's stuff he gives in training that helps the squad.

yeah mate, personally i don't see any major differences between the women's and men's game. maybe its cause women don't generally like sports as much as guys do. also, it seems a lot more open then the men's game.
At the professional level there is quite a bit of difference. The mens game is just faster and more powerful. Last year the US womens national team played a u16 boys club team from Germany. The boys team won 3-0. The single biggest difference is the speed of play.

They showed the vote on SSN and thats exactly what I was waiting on happening. They actually went to the trouble of counting the votes when there was absolutely no other option but to vote for Blatter. You could either abstain or vote for him. So obviously all the votes would be for him, why count it? I was hoping it was a set up and they voted for a chair or something in his place.
I think it gives further credence to my belief that Sir Alex sends Wee Micky Owen to collect his Racing Post and talks to him about horses. If he released him then who would he send?

Hm...Gerard Houllier is now gone from Aston Villa. More speculation as to who will be the manager of a club. Sometimes these managerial merry-go-rounds are fun to follow too.

Villa will be interesting to follow this year. Freidel, Young and Downing all seem set for the exit. If they aren't careful they could find themselves in the Championship in a years time.

Football is a very hazardous venture if seen as a business opportunity. Birmingham's Carson Yeung isn't exactly having a peachy time regarding the finances there. That's pretty much true of most clubs I guess. Goodness knows.
Owen and Ferguson: so...who would be more into horses then? If Ferguson can't be bothered to buy his own and reads Owen's copy of the Racing Post while having him train....hm.....seriously needs pondering.

On the finances thing, on SSN this afternoon they talked of some guy making a bid for West Ham and said he is worth £274m and I just thought wheres that going to get them? Lower half of the PL when you consider how much he would spend to buy the club and that he wouldn't spend all his money on the team. Bit of a simplistic view but it still seems like a low number.

I guess Owen's wages are a sort of...'personal expense' for Ferguson being masquaraded as player salary. (Not sure if that made any sense.)

Yeah I don't get that either. Chelsea are the same, if Abramovich or that Sheik guy pull the plug on their investment then how can either club pay the massive wages they are shelling out for? Its not like either of them is actually a big club.

To be fair to Chelsea I think Abramovich wanted the club to be self sufficient within a period of ten years. So despite an immense outlay to begin with at least there is some semblance of a foundation to achieve the sort of status some fans believe they already have. It would seem he at least knows that you cannot keep opening up your wallet to fund the club. That is at least a business plan. Whether it comes to fruition is another matter entirely of course.
A short while back there was this accountant type person thingamebob warning Man City about their expenditure and the impending UEFA financial fair play regulations. If the regulations are strict, then Man City can buy the players and even qualify for the Champions League; but get barred from it because they spent too much in trying to do so. Be funny if they did get barred; then maybe this whole wealthy owner thing can be put into perspective.

if man city got barred from the champions league, well that would really suck for them actually. their owners slpashed the cash, but the team itself played well, and you know the fans have suffered. the philosophy of having a wealthy owner to bring in half a team of expensive players is itself risky. look at madrid and the new galacticos. they're still not playing at the level we thought they were going to be at.

As for Man City...sure. As a fan it would be a downer without a doubt, though I suppose my initial leanings was towards the owners. Should they fall foul of the financial fair play regulations then there is no-one to blame but themselves for that travesty, and hopefully fans can see it is the club's owner(s) which have been...less than intelligent in their dealings which may have caused the problem rather than any regulation which they (or their advisers) should have been aware of. (That was an awkward sentence....)
Anyway...managerial guffaws with Mark Hughes quitting Fulham.

What did people expect of Madrid? They bought alot of attacking players and then brought in a manager with a suspect record known for his defensive play. They are also trying to build a tream around the greediest, most selfish player in all of football. Their star man does nothing for the team.
Apparently Hughes hasn't even got the Villa job yet. I don't see why he would want it anyway. Freidel has left already.

As for Real...perhaps Mourinho's CV was enough to convince them, but no-one actually sought to follow up on references or something. Otherwise they'd have realised (assuming someone there has the capacity to understand these things) that he wasn't exactly a good fit for them.

This amused me... http://www.football3...6964103,00.html Newcastle seem to be slightly confused. Theres no way Owen could be talking about them. He didn't even come close to playing every game for them. Sounds more like he is talking about Liverpool...

It's a quite major event here in Germany (obviously, we are the host) - but I've no idea how popular women football is in your countries, if at all. We always get live coverage when the national team plays (since many years), even for friendly competitions, and quite a lot people watch it. Even cup matches or the women champions league get's broadcasted.
So how is it in the UK, for example?
