Yeah something happened to Keane when he went to Liverpool... I think he got old and tired.
Two major Newcastle flops: Jean Alain Boumsong and Celestine Babayaro.

WTH is going on in England?! I've heard that the British cities are being burned down into ashes by hungry riots!
The soccer in England is in danger, because the whole system is in danger.

Alves scored some crackers for Middlesboro, he just didn't score enough. He let the bald brotherhood down big time.
I can't think of any striker at Liverpool other than Torres who didn't flop, its something of a strikers graveyard. Bellamy and Crouch didn't have the best of times either.
Massimo Taibi at United if anyone can remember him.
It seems the football this weekend could end up getting postponed with these riots. Shocking, its the first day of the season.
What do you think of Newcastle signing Obertan Natt?

To be honest I know very little of Obertan Druss. You should have a more accurate opininon on him than I do.
I've heard though that he's very quick and a good dribbler on the ball and can be used either as a winger or as a forward.
But I've also heard that he's lacking a football brain which causes him to make a lot of mistakes.

That about sums him up Natt. He can look like a world beater and a headless chicken at the same time. He did miss alot of development with a back injury when he was younger though so I think he just needs experience and first team football, he certainly has potential.

That tends to be the key to some signings: potential. (Again, the headless chicken with Messi-like skills.)
Quite a few games are in danger of being called off, the friendly of England vs. Holland is off I read earlier. Football aside this whole situation doesn't look good.

Pardew is suggesting that there will be more signings to come. He suggests such crazy things.
I think theres a few Championship games off tonight too. Its not looking good at all and could well get worse, its our rioting season at the minute too which usually builds up to the 12th of August so it could actually end up a UK wide problem if it keeps going the way it is.
I just read that Nasri has apparently agreed £85k a week deal with Man City. Why would any player going to City accept anything less than the £260k a week Yaya Toure is alledgedly on? £85k seems a paltry sum for a player they seem to desperately want considering how much others are being paid there.

Pardew is only saying what Ashley tells him to, Pardew himself has absolutely no idea what he is talking about most of the time.
Just goes to show that you actually need some gray matter in the head as well to make it in the big leagues... which is why so many Brazilian individualists makes it in the Swedish league only to fail miserably when they move on to something bigger.
The riots only proves that the world is just filled with bastards...
I wouldn't say no to £85k a week myself...

£85k a week is not something I would ignore though it is for City so of course I'd be conflicted. Though I think for Nasri it's more to do with which way the wind is blowing in regards to who's going to snap up trophies which is why I think Nasri may want to go there but could be mistaken.
Arsenal just don't feel like the 'big team' they used to be 7-8 years ago, and their main headlines are more to do with who's leaving as opposed to who's coming in.

Arsenal are without a doubt a team in a 'transitional' period as some might say; there seems to be more leaving than arriving. From the then Invincibles to the current team it has been quite a change. If transfers are an indication of the club's ambitions, then perhaps it is no surprise that some players would want to leave. At this point it seems unlikely that Arsenal will be challenging for honours any time soon. (Which reminds me; Francis Jeffers since leaving Everton.)
Natt, you think Pardew needs an autocue?

"The squad is too thin" "The squad is too big" "The squad isn't big enough" "We will never sell Carroll when he is under that contract" "Nolan is an important captain and goalscorer whom we need to do everything for to keep" "In the end, it wasn't worth keeping Nolan" "We've given Enrique a fantastic offer to make him stay" "Barton is one of our most important players" "Barton is more trouble than he is worth" and so on.
Enrique: "I didn't even get a better contract than what I currently have "
What I think he really needs is to look himself in the mirror. He's just a spineless puppet.

I found Tranquilo Barnetta's agents comments about Newcastles contract offer to sum up the transfer stupidity of the current regime quite nicely. It was along the lines of "Why the hell would we take less money to go to Newcastle?" Why the hell would Ashley and company assume he would take less money? Thats bizarre at best.
Jose Antonio Reyes was somewhat of a failure too. Arsenal haven't been the same since Chelsea became super rich, they have been in transition since then. Every time it looks like they are back on the right path it all just falls away somewhere near the final hurdle.
Also Mark Gonzalez and Alberto Aquilani.

I think I remember reading about that. Wasn't there a line about it would make sense if it was a paycut at Man Utd but not at Newcastle? Though with the economy as it is perhaps they thought players would recognise the difficulty of the situation.
Hm...an autocue that generates a bunch of contradictions. Sounds like that was really useful....
Reyes seemed good at first, which also reminds me of his temporary replacement Julio Baptista. Though he did thump four past Liverpool, so I guess he should get some props for that alone.
Goodness knows what Benitez was thinking when signing Aquilani, the reasoning seemed to make sense but only if the player could actually recover from their injury and discover their form. Come to think of it we could have a list of players simply comprising of Benitez's signings.

Yeah I think he gave a list of teams he would take a paycut for and stated Newcastle in its current shape was not one of them.
Ah Baptista! I'm pretty sure theres atleast one more obvious Arsenal one that we are missing. Mauro Boselli at Wigan was another.
I've named about 4 Benitez signings already lol. That hasn't even gotten into his fullback signings.

Actually he was registered as a professional footballer... just like Alan Smith is today...
There was someone who did something similar as Dia only that he proved to be a decent player... now what was his name...

Ali Dia is a good mention. Though I'm not certain 'flop' would adequately describe him. George Weah's 'cousin' was it? *Heh*
Harry Kewell after leaving Leeds. Oh...and we haven't even mentioned Jo yet.
Benitez's full backs signings. I think they may top the list of shame....
EDIT: slow typing. That does ring a bell, Natt....hm....

Who did he play for? Its not ringing any bells with me.
Good call on Kewell.
Ronaldinho for Milan and one of the biggest flops ever Denilson at Real Betis. Atleast I think Denilson was his name...

Looks like the FA will decide whether to go ahead with the league tomorrow. We will have to see.

I enjoyed the parody. Bit over dramatic like most Arsenal fans though, booing during a pre-season game and such things. They rarely spend big but still end up in the CL every season.
It looks like only the games in London are in danger at the minute. Hopefully it all goes ahead.
Pop quiz hotshots! Can anyone name the only PL team not to have done any business in this transfer window so far?

No business conducted? Hm.....Everton seems to have been rather quiet. I don't recall anyone being sold either. Hm....
