Ha I laughed long and hard at the Leeds result. My mate was texting me doing his usual Leeds gloat because I lied and told him they were 4-0 up. Then at around 4.40pm I told him the real score, he never did text back lol.
That video actually reminds me of this goal from that very game. Absolute ****** it was...
Which somehow led me to this...

It will be a long and hard season for QPR I reckon.
The richest owners in the world and yet they won't help Warnock at all.
Relying on players like Danny Gabbidon and Kieron Dyer and results like Bolton is what you will get.
Someone even claimed that they were building the team around Dyer.
I hope this isn't true, why would anyone want to build a team around a player that only lasts ten minutes per season?
Watched Liverpool - Sunderland and Newcastle - Arsenal of course.
Liverpool had the game until Sunderland managed to get their team together in the second half.
All of a sudden Liverpool couldn't create anything at all after that.
Newcastle - Arsenal should be handed out as medicine for those who suffers from N'Zog- sorry, insomnia.
Ba and Ameobi up front at the same? I have no idea what Pardew was thinking there.
The Barton - Gervinho incident was laughable. Barton wanting to give Gervinho a lecture about diving by grabbing his collar... only to dive himself from a little slap.
Pardew though didn't see the opportunity when they were one more but instead changed to a 4-5-1 formation so they could just see the game out.

Bit of catching up to do. Pleased that Norwich didn't lose, Sparrow; also pleased to see that Ipswich lost their first game of the season too. Tis almost a glorious day.
Newcastle-Arsenal was shambolic having watched MOTD last night. But changing to a more defensive formation when a man up is daft to say the least; the days of Arsenal being down to ten men and still handing out thrashings are long gone (dodgy memory at work). Pardew really should have gone for the jugular to say the least.
The suspected butcher/fishmonger that is Kean loses to Big Mick.
Larsson's goal against Liverpool was pretty sweet. It could be one of those seasons for Liverpool again, though they'll have their fallback/default excuses.
Agree that it was a somewhat dull opening day for the Premier League. Not exactly a lot of wins; though there was that thrashing of QPR. Giving the rumblings about Warnock's position just after the end of last season...well...can't help thinking that they may even copy what Newcastle did to Hughton. Seems like that they'll be relying of Taraabt a fair bit, but I just wonder if the transfer speculation from earlier in the window could have gotten to him; sort of like Charlie Adam at Blackpool at the time.

Some thoughts after watching MOTD...
Suarez...he rivals Gerrard and Terry for most punchable face in the league. He rivals them for getting away with blue murder too after his pulling of Rafael's hair and his kick on Dawson last season didn't even get him a suspension. Had Joey Barton done either of those...
On the subject of Suarez I may be biased but was I the only one who thought he dived for that penalty? I haven't had a chance to see Richardson's reaction but after seeing the penalty from several angles I'm not convinced he touched him and Suarez appeared to do the old Klinsmann trick of clipping his own heels.
Norwich were lucky to get a draw in the end up, Wigan had chances and hit the woodwork a couple of times. Not convinced it was a penalty, the second one seemed more of a penalty to me. Then again Norwich had a couple of chances themselves and a point is a point. Is De Laet playing centreback? I've seen him mostly play as a fullback.
One thing Norwich have added with all their signings is depth. When I look at teams like Blackburn, Wigan and Villa I just don't see that.
If Wes Brown stays fit he could be the signing of the season. Roger Johnson won't be far behind him, I hadn't realised Wolves even signed him.
Stoke 0-0 Chelsea. From the little I saw Torres played better than he had been, should have had a penalty. Him and Lampard should also have been booked for blatant dives. Even Lampards cousin Redknapp couldn't defend him. Though he did try in his simple minded butchering of the English language way. I'm waiting for Gary Neville to be allowed to finish a sentence without Redknapp shouting over him.
Cleverley, Anderson and Welbeck starting for United.

Norwich were lucky to get away with quite a few decisions from what I saw. We be very lucky without a doubt. Doubt we'll get too many of those decisions but it's good we managed to score from open play. Looks like Lambert still wants to add to the squad; seems like he's trying to get another defender in before the window closes.
The Suarez incident I'm not sure about to be honest. Could go either way.
I think Torres played well, only missing a goal really. He might have got it if not for a very well timed tackle, though at first it did seem like he fluffed his shot.
Let's see how Swansea fare against Man City. Out of the promoted teams they got the toughest test for their first match (on paper at the very least).
Man Utd beat WBA. Will probably have to see how well de Gea performs after a bit more settling in; though I can imagine some are probably a bit hesitant about his performances thus far.

Its over! Finally its over! Cesc can go home now and assume his rightful place amongst the Catalan master race, taking up his position appointed by god himself on the Barca bench(until he plays 5 matches and his hamstring goes again.) That evil bastard Wenger and his nothing club Arsenal have finally been defeated by the glorious team of Barcelona and Pep Guardiola, how dare they keep Cesc prisoner?!?! HOW DARE THEY!!! They forced him to leave Barca despite his obvious massive love for them, they kidnapped him no less! Then forced him to sign an 8 year contract a few years ago, breaking his Barca loving heart. His nightly prayers and Barca based wanking are finally over. He is finally home now its ok, the world will be right when he sits on the Barca bench for the first time.
To stop Barca from having to go through the indignity of ever having to negotiate with a lesser team again, from ever having to pay the asking price for a player, from ever having to conduct their business in private and from having to show these nothing teams any sort of respect like not announcing their captain has left the day before their opening match then demanding silence on the matter because it might upset Barca preparing for a glorified friendly I propose we send them Vidic and Rooney now, Chelsea send them Torres and Drogba and all other teams let Barca pick and choose the players they want right now. No fee's involved ofcourse. Its only right after all because Barca are "more than a football club."
United were lucky, very very lucky. I hope that gets people off the Cleverley bandwagon for a while and gives him time to develop. He played ok but Anderson outshone him again. Sky seemed to be doing their best to make out De Gea had practically thrown the ball into the net, it wasn't that big of a mistake. Gary Neville was trying to point out that it happens, he should have saved it but didn't, your going to concede goals that you could have saved, it happens. Unfortunately while he was saying this Redknapp kept shouting over him "But it was his first game!" Idiot.

Hopefully Neville can bring some sense into the Sky Sports team there; or at least counterbalance the other Redknapp.
As for the Fabregas/Barcelona thing. Finally.... And for their sake it might be easier too if 'business' was conducted in the way you outlined, Druss.

Arsenal will be making a little sigh of relief over the Fabregas deal, yeah ok they didn't really want to sell him but between him wanting to leave and Barca and the press making such a spectacle over the situation the Gunners will be glad it's over and now rebuild their team from this point on.
Personally don't care how Cesc fares in the future as it was his decision, whether that means he sits on the bench for games at a time or is actually improving the quality of Barca's games then I'm glad it's over either way.

I'd find it hilarious if he completely flopped or constantly injured after how Barca conducted themselves. Other than that I've no interest as to be honest the Spanish league is kind of a joke.
City played well tonight, it could have finished 10-0 if not for good goal keeping and unlucky finishing. Swansea could be in for a very tough season.

Yeah another thrashing for a promoted team, though I expected it more from City than Bolton did with QPR.
Saw the goals as well, Aguerro looking impressive on his debut? Seemed to have good synergy with the likes of David Silva and Dzeko also got one in himself. Makes you wonder when Balotelli and Tevez may ruin that fluidity and personally hope it does happen as it'll show how fragile Man City's integrity is as a team in front of their 'loyal' fans.
Unlucky for the Swans to get City at Eastlands or the 'Etihad' as it's now known in their first game, would hate to see them get swamped under pressure of their first PL visit this season.

I thought it was £100m to name it Etihad, it turns out they paid themselves £400m. If thats not taking the ****** with the rules then I don't know what is.
Thing about Aguero is he came on after Swansea went 1-0 down. They were always going to collapse after the first goal and City were allover them before he even came on so I wouldn't get too worked up about him just yet. Tell that to the papers and Sky though. His second goal was a great strike though.
I only found out the Dutch and possibly German leagues have started. I thought the rest of Europe started a couple of weeks after the PL. Ajax won 5-1.

No, not specific to the Premiership; but it just happens that most of us who are here support teams who are in the Premiership. In that the discussion is 'accidentally' Premiership specific.
Well...Man City are off to a good start. Probably the only rival team to Man Utd who did with all the others having drawn their opening game. Aguero seemed impressive enough on his debut. If it wasn't some flash in the pan performance it will quickly become a 'who's Tevez?' scenario. Saw a snippet of Mancini's comments; if he thinks that language is an issue maybe he should be signing more Spanish speaking players.
Be a while that we'll discuss Fabregas again, now he's gone to the club that God decreed *cough*, but it would be funny in a way if what you 'say' does come about, Druss. Have to admit that I can't really see him walking into their first team straight away, and is likely to be on the bench until injuries hit their fabled midfield. Though with respect to injuries though, it does make me wonder what sort of medical staff they have at Arsenal. Surely something there needs addressing; or they just have a knack of having knackered players.

Arsenal's medical problems have been a mystery for years. Isn't their physio also Englands? I think its got something to do with Wenger signing players cheaply because they are injury prone like Rosicky and Van Persie but don't quote me on the second one. Could also be a gypsy curse.
Seems Norwich have signed another young centreback, Daniel Ayala from Liverpool. He was supposed to be the second coming of Baresi according to Liverpool fans a couple of seasons ago.
Also Grant Holts underpants....possibly Wolverine?...

Hm....possibly Wolverine, though being a bit unfamiliar with Marvel in
general I'm not sure is that could be him. Might be other characters who
fit that mold. Though if it is Wolverine it doesn't seem like one of
the costumes I'm familar with. Those 'ears' seem too small....
And I think the above proves the diversity of our discussion of football
in this thread. Never thought we'd ever discuss Grant Holt's underwear
for starters...*Heh*
Not sure about Arsenal's medical staff.
Though I would anticipate that signing players at such a young age and
putting them through the rigours of the league might not have been good
for them physically. That might be crocked would obviously play a role.
The Premier League is the best, Natt. It has scraps all over the table, though this comes from a very limited viewing experience, i.e. mine. But then I'm biased because my team are in it.
For this season at the very least.

I guessed Wolverine because of the ears and colour scheme. I've no idea who it actually is. The mysteries of Grant Holt are endless. Will we ever know the answer?
I had to laugh at SSN apparently Raul wanted out of Schalke until he heard Blackburn were interested, now he wants to stay and has asked Schalke to reject all bids from Blackburn.

That is priceless. You think big clubs can go into cahoots with lesser teams to try and keep their players?
Club A: Club B has bid for you, and we have accepted.
Player: Club B?
Club A: Well, you said you wanted to leave.
Player: Not to go to Club B!
Club A: What do you want then.
Player: I'll stay.
Or something like that. Hey. Maybe Man City can do something like that to Tevez! *Cough*

So far, in total, 3 good chances and from that 2 goals..

I vaguely recall using that tactic in Football Manager many moons ago, I did it out of spite though and the player rejected the teams contract. I think I was Middlesboro and the player was Adriano but I'm not sure.
When are the second legs? The CL draw must be soon as it starts in the next month or two.
Arsenal were 1-0 when I last looked. Lost two defenders to hamstring injuries already, including the sub that came on for the first defender.
Wengers ban is becoming a farce, he is communicating with the bench via an assisstant sat next to him, which UEFA can't decide if its allowed or not as he isn't allowed to talk to the bench. Although wasn't Mourinho allowed to talk to the bench? How exactly are him and Wengers bans the same length(after Mourinho had 2 games suspended)? One of them questioned the ref in the tunnel after an obviously dodgy call, the other accused referees, Barca, UEFA and football in general of cheating. Am I alone in seeing a difference in their offences?

Update to that Arsene situation is that it seems that UEFA are looking at it and believe he broke the conditions of his suspension; I think Arsenal are citing a misunderstanding about the precise terms of 'said' suspension.
Also...UEFA are looking into the apparent dodgy sponsorship deal Man City have. This is the same UEFA that Man City had a chat with regarding their concerns about the new financial fair play regulations....hm......Ooookaaay.......
Arsenal are going to have it tough this season by the looks of things. I recall reading somewhere that one of them big honchos claims that Arsenal would have financial difficulties (or something similar) if they don't make the Champions League. I think that pretty much informs us of the sort of funds available to Wenger. (And no, I'm not sure why I referred to him as 'Arsene' earlier and 'Wenger' just then....)
Also chuffed to see Ipswich lose. Ah...to be a Norwich fan now....
EDIT: typo.

I think the thing that was confusing about Arsene Wenger's ban last night was according to the commentary team that Arsenal were told its ok for him to communicate with his assistant who then communicated with the bench by UEFA. It was only at half time they decided that this might be bending the rules somewhat.
I could swear he came out today and said he is willing to spend £40m on a player. Which to me seems like a remarkably stupid thing to say, teams will hold them to ransom now and the falls will be on his back even more if he doesn't spend it.

It seems QPR have been taken over and will now have money to spend. Remains to be seen if anyone will join them after the spanking they took and how tough a season it looks to be. Might be hard to attract foreign types with the recent riots too.
It seems there was another fracas in the Barca - Real match. Thats starting to really ****** me off, all the posturing and threatening in football and you never see anyone actually get hit. Its all slapping and grabbing. Makes me bloody sick.
