Very sensible reason, IMO

Sensible? So does that mean they should also get in there and redo the dwarves as well considering how closely related they are to the dwarfs in Tolkiens universe. How about the elves, there whole plight is directly ripped from Sapkowski. How about magic, I mean what fantasy universe doesn't employ magic. And don't even get me started on humans and dragons.

It's stupid reasoning because I can look at 90% of the lore within the game and say this was taken from this and that was taken from that. I just can't see a reason to give the Darkspawn a massive overhaul (And for thw worse in my opinion) because a handful of forum ranters were going off about a "direct rip off". Artistic designs and ideas are shared and copied all the time, but despite that if you do yours well enough it'll stand out on it's own just as the Darkspawn did in Origins. I mean seriously, who looked at the shots of the Darkspawn and said "Awesome, a new Lord of the Rings game is coming out."

Without mods both games look like turd.
Designed with console mind. Only modded does Oblivion look good.

That's not a widely shared opinion. At it's release Oblivion was regarded to have one of the most beautifuly designed environments amongst multiplatforms.

That was then this is now. Without mods taking advancement of pc technology which is vastly superior to consoles, game big turd.  Likewise with gameplay, need mods to not be turd. Bethesda suck, games need canceled.

Not a fan of Bethsoft's retarded dialogue, sh*tty "Radiant AI", no reactivity at all in the gameworld and complete lack of any sort of choice design philosophy (even more railroady than the most linear BioWare game). Technically, yeah, they're RPG's, but I think "hiking simulator" is more apt.

Fallout 3 was pretty good with some nice exploration, admittedly. But then you remember how good Fallout 1/2 were and how good Van Buren was shaping up to be. And then you feel the taste of ashes in your mouth.

I gotta hand it to Pete Hines, Bethesda's PR guy. That guy really knows how to turn sh*t into sugar - Oblivion gets a 94% on Metacritic despite being a stew of bad design and undelivered promises. That's pretty impressive. But then again, convincing gaming journalists, who's average IQ hovers somewhere around the "drooling retard" range, that your mess of a game is actually a masterpiece, is probably not a hard sell.

Sadly it isn't only the critics that rave about it, but many many gamers.

It took me atleast three 2hr warm up plays (over a 6 month period) to decide to plunge in and play it through.

I suppose not being able to create a close resemblance of a humanoid in the character creator turned me off in most attempts.

The game wasn't terrible, but no where as engrossing as DA.

ANYWAY BACK TO DRAGON AGE

The graphics in DA:O weren't bad, but they just weren't clean. They lacked polish. It's not an issue of realism or prettiness or even how modern the graphics look. It's an issue of polish. BG2 and PS:T have decade-old 2D isometric backgrounds and 3D sprites, but boy are they polished, and they've got some of the most beautiful game art I've ever seen. They're polished, so they've aged relatively well despite VERY outdated graphics.

I don't notice graphical limitations after about five minutes in graphically polished games, even older ones. I DO notice them in Dragon Age, at least a few times an hour. They're little things, but they feel like blemishes on an otherwise outstanding game.

So you're basicly ranting on about how a game released 4 or 5 years ago doesn't look as well as games released today. Really?

It's not so much that I don't like the statement, it's that I find the statement to be a load of BS. If the driving force of these changes truly was creating an artistic seperation then there are A LOT more areas that needed to be tackled over the way the Darkspawn look. If they had a whole slew of changes lined up I'd buy it, but simply giving the Darkspawn a fresh coat of paint and saying it was done to seperate it's identy from another well known piece of work while not even touching the dozens of other generic and sterotypical pieces just doesn't really ring true to me.

Also, what you said make my awsome point more correctly correct.

Lety's move on.

I'm pretty sure he was referring to Oblivion, which was released in '06.

So no, you aren't "correctly correct."

You mean "he" as in "me" who said "games" as in the person he is refering too?
Look what consoles have done to you.

And Laser Squad was released in the eighties

Our arguments are flawless.  Fallout 3 was released after Oblivion thus Oblivion's graphics sucks.  And Laser Squad was released in the eighties which means that Oblivion is a video game

Most graphics looked better in shoulderview closeup than via sattelite view.

Much of the individual game experience may depend on the chosen
camera angle.

So a camera tutorial like in NWN oc may be a good idea for DA 2.

A freefloating camera option for screenshots is on my
'pretty please - wishlist'. :)

in fact, it's even more correct.
