Well, I'm totally not a stickler for graphics.  Story and characters matter more to me, but even I have to say I found DAO graphics a little basic especially of the environments.  A lot of areas especially outdoors were really dull looking compared to something like Oblivion.  Oblivion doesn't really have "better" graphics.  It just pays more attention to detail.  The DAO world felt kind of empty at times.  Tables with nothing on them.  Taverns with nobody in them.  That kind of thing.  If they chisel out a few more details than I am all for it.  It will make the game more immersive for me.

ME2 got a make-over, nothing extreme, but it looked a lot more polished. I expect the same will occur here.

This.

I also liked DA:O's graphics but then I never did care for it much, that is graphics in general.

I thought the graphics were terrible. Then I realized for whatever reason I had the resolution at 800x600 for five months and AA at 2x instead of 8x, and the game looks much better. Not amazing, but better.

I like the improvements to the models. I just thing the angles are stupid. I suppose the idea was to set DA2 apart by making everyone think it's a really high spec version of a game from 2002.

I don't really understand why they are taking on a new art style for DA2, I didnt really see any major problems with origins.

They weren't bad, but they weren't great either. They were just okay. And in this day and age if your a class A developer your games must look outstanding.

I just hate the shinny effect with Fallout.  It looks like they used the Frostbite Engine from DICE.

my main problem with DA:O was character designs where pretty mediocre, nothing stood out really. Probably because every thing in DA I've seen before and done better before. Probably why I like Mass Effect more, Asari, Quarians, Geth, Drell, Krogan, and etc are all unique to Mass Effect. But I've seen Elves and Dwarves before and other games have made them more visually exciting. Not to mention alot of DA's creature designs where often way to similar to other fantasy creatures from other games in design. Like Rage Demons look awfully close to Fire Elementals in WoW. The Dark Spawn are eerily similar to the Orcs from Lord of the Rings. Nothing really felt unique about Dragon ages design choices.

FO3 looks like crap, no doubt. In fact i think that the faces in DAO looked great but the environment needs more work.

My exact thought. Character generator was one of the best. Bethesda doesn't come close.

I think the character design of your personal charcter look far better than Mass Effect, go as far to call them beautiful.

Mass Effect PC suck, spaghetti hair,  uncanny valley, whole game suck balls, too realistic.

The DA:O char creator was alright because you'd have to intentionally hit your char with the ugly stick to make it look bad. But there really weren't a whole lot of options for males and females, especially in eye, nose, mouth, and hair shapes. Mass Effect also suffered from a similar lack of options. DA:O's creater is not that much better for females to be honest.

I have yet to see how the toolset expands possibilities. Installing it caused my system to go BSOD.

ROFL I love people hating on FO3 graphics.

Do you guys realize FO3 is a totally open world RPG, vs. Mass Effect 2 closed small linear environments?

Of course an open world game is not going to have the same level of detail as a linear game like ME2 or DAO with a small set amount of locations and 90% of those locations nothing more than cardboard cutout sets w/ faux doors and blocked passages.

Its like saying Devil May Cry looks better than Grand Theft Auto. So what? GTA has a world 1000x bigger than DMC.

When the game is much much smaller and has no free roam, you can increase the detail.

I still think the graphics in Baldur's Gate were fine and didn't have any major problems... but progress happens.

I was never trying to tout the character design in Fallout 3, or any Bethesda game for that matter.

I am saying it has graphics comparable to or better than DA:O despite being an absolutely massive open-world where you can actually interact with the environment. A much more impressive achievement, technically speaking, than the 'stage set' environs of DA:O

Even the devs have noted DA:O was visually unimpressive. I'm pretty sure they what they are talking about.
