Shale & Dog count (They got partial Warrior talents).

Story-wise, Shale is my favorite Tank & DPS Warrior, but mechanical wise, I'm not sure. I thought Shale was the best Tank in the game due to her aggro generation & HP but I'm told Sword & Shield talents (stun, knock downs) & additional Armor outweigh them in the end game at least.

Maxed out stoneheart gives a huge armor bonus that competes with the best armor for warriors, and Shale's HP is too high for even the blood dragon plate to let a warrior keep up with it, and her elemental resistances under stoneheart are the same way. Stoneheart is also a more effective aggro puller than taunt/threaten, and stone roar never fails at it period. What a sword and board warrior has over Shale is defense, but that's not nearly a big enough advantage, especially against tough monsters who never miss anyway.



Fu­­ck if I know who the best DPS warrior is, probably Oghren (rage + the ability to take a second specialization puts him over sten.) They're all so close in terms of damage output and other classes can do that too anyway.

Shale & myself! though if it's between NPC I guess I'd go for the Oghren.. Sten is quite cool when you get his sword but even then I find him to be.. mediocre at best. So meh.. Oghren I guess? ^^

I like Shale, but as the game goes on and I level up, I find that other tanks do just as good of a job. Especially Sword and Board wars.



Shale is amazing for me used as a secondary tank that can deal massive damage if the situation calls for it. No other character is even half as versatile.



I like using Alister mainly due to the fact that playing a rouge does not allow me to use half of the loot that i get and Alister can use lol

shale is the best tank period. she gets not only the warrior specific aoe taunt, but two others from golem abilities while stoneheart is running. just set up tactics to cycle those 3 and regenerative burst (takes a lot of stamina to do all 4 though) and no matter how hard you nuke it - it's just not going to leave shale. and shale still hits like a truck in stoneform

So far, my character is turning into a tank even if he uses a two-handed sword just by wearing the Juggernaut armor... As long as Wynne is at the back healing and keeping me alive that is =P

Loving Shale as tank. However, I'd like to keep Alistaier in the party for story reasons, so next playthrough I'm going to try Shale's pulverizing line and see how he does as offtank.



For optimum parties, though, another mage is better than any offtank.

speaking of mages and off-tanks: Arcane Warriors are insanely good at switching from support to tank if it goes wrong.
