If you were a human your first party character is a mabari warhound so will this repeat itself in hawke's origin?

Do all humans get Mabaris'? I thought they were reserved for Nobles and Ash Warrior types. Still, I wouldn't mind having another Mabari, but only if they had all new skills/animations.

Mabaris are reserved for Ferelden Nobility

Compare that to Hawke who is from Lothering (a petty collection of huts) and thus NOT a noble, and rises to power in the Free Marches and not Ferelden

So. . . no we probably won't get a Mabari

Yes, dogs are not as popular in the other countries of Thedas, so I wouldn't count on it.

I loved my dog, but honestly, I'd prefer an actual party member that I can have a relationship--be it hostile or platonic--with. I wouldn't want a whole slot taken up by a character like Dog.

Technically, the Warden could have had nothing to her/his name when s/he got the Dog.

The Warden lucked into a mabari because the Warden saved the hound's life and it imprinted. That's a very special set of circumstances. The human noble is the only character who is different, and in that case the noble having a mabari was a matter of standing.

My point being is that's not a very good reason to write one off--I don't think we'll get a mabari, but that wouldn't be the reason.

For all you know you got one on account of it being a runt someone tried drowning. If this is the case, I'm naming my Hawke Fern.

I loved dog in Origins, but I hope we don't get another dog in DA2. I'd rather have some other animal. Big Cats, Drake...etc.

I'd love another puppy, though I certainly don't expect to start with one. I always enjoyed thinking up silly names. (I wanted to name it Benjamin Barker once but it didn't allow spaces, how sad)

If they do include an animal, I hope they make the interactions more varied. I liked how at the beginning of DA:O, the party members would comment about dog and a conversation would start. After that, though, it was pretty bland (pet him, leave him alone, or have him find stuff in the environment).

How about a baby dragonling that is really cute and loves you but shoots fireballs? Like Spyro:)
The game seems to have a Greek influence....what kind of pets did they have in ancient Greece?

I'd like falconry. You can choose from an owl, eagle, hawk, or falcon, each with different skillsets and attributes.

As someone mentioned before, the dog is a lot of fun at first, and useful up to about level 10, but then after that you don't get any more cutscenes or party dialogue, and the limited skill set makes the dog one of the least effective companions. I would much rather have another fully voiced interactive character.
