I strongly belive rogues shouldn't be exactly like fighters , but with two swords and slightly different abilites and their ugly armor .  I think it should look something more like Scorpion had a baby with Prince of Persia , agile charcter that can use acrobatics to move quickly around the battle field and haras the enemy . Character needs more ninja feel to it , one hit one kill type of a aproach . You wear light armor not becouse you are too cool to raise your strength points but becouse it would restrict your movement . Also armor should look more fitting for the character : i dont see why there was no light armor in the game with light chainmail or plates guarding chest and small plates on gauntless and legs .

Also fighting style varieties should varry more , coppying wows two handed sword wield rogue wasn't that really cool. Bring in bladed spears , light two handed swords and so on .

and for F#@ sake why do we need waste points on lockpicking when you can just smash chests with fireball or big hammer its not like peasants ever complain about hero rampaging though their property looking for gold , poitons or epic swords ?

I agree they should look more agile and graceful, not sure how to accomplish that look though.

I agree the armor should be treated differently also, more clothing type garbs and armor like mage robes(but obviously not robes)

Definatly some different weapons to go with the daggers, like rapiers and such.

Don't know anything about wow so can't comment there.

Lock picking (deft hands) should have been a skill not a talent.

Ok....Issue 208 Page 55 Game Informer

"Warrior, mage, and rogues are all archetypes for a reason, but I don't know that Origins delineated them enough. It didn't create enough space between them. A rogue dual-wielding is just a warrior with less armor in some cases," Laidlaw admits. "What I want to do is make sure that you feel like this unstoppable juggernaut, a lithe super-ninja, or field artillery."

I am led to believe from those comments the classes will be signifigantly different this time around.

Well I hope so as that would be a welcome and refreshing change. Thanks for letting us know what the article said.

I'm guessing the "field artillery" is the mage.

I know most wouldn't of used a rogue (if not the PC) in their party if not for lock-picking. On one side I hope this changes and all will be able to pick locks with x amount of points in x skill, but on the other I think many people will miss out on the "real" benefits of a rogue as a party member (song of courage/ arrow of slaying / scattershot). > I like rogue archers

Yeah -- people who didn't think rogues were good in combat weren't using them right.

But that was a problem; you can go very wrong when building a rogue. It must have taken me 4 or 5 restarts to form the perfect archer (this was before the xp glitch was well know, otherwise I would of experimented a bit before logging so many hours).  I really would of preffered using Zeveran more, but unfortunately you get him so late with an irreversably bad skill set (IMO).

I always play rogues and if made right they are deadly. Of course I never go the archer route though. I hope they change lock picking also though lol. It should be a skill not a talent. No reason everyone can learn to pick pockets but only rogues can open locks, just silly.

Funny, I always used Zev in my party, even when/especially playing another rogue. He's deadly in combat. Unless I played another rogue, he always got the killing blows on dragons, ogres, etc. He just can't pick locks. But if I played a rogue, I had that ability covered.

Rogues in Origins were easily my favorite class. They were highly capable fighters and the sheer amount of customization made them fun no matter what your play style. But I'd love to see them differentiated from warriors a little more. Faster speeds, more unique items and armors, and more dedicated-rogue abilities would help. And let's keep lock-picking a rogue-only skill. Each class has abilities the others lack. It makes for a more balanced game in the long run.

I just want archer rogues to be revamped. In Origins, only after level 15 with appropriate gear did Leliana begin to do some decent damage on my playthroughs.

It would be nice to see some better-looking light armor. One thing they could do to make rogues feel more agile is to allow them faster movement in combat when wearing lighter armor.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind if they let mages or warriors deal with locks. I'm a little OCD about opening every locked chest, which means I always have to have a rogue in my group. That rather limits the possible party combinations.
