Since we were able to apply heraldry to our shields in Awakening, I was wondering if this will be an option in DA2. Hopefully we will have access to a greater variety of herladries, and not just to decorate the face of our shield, but also to add some customization to otherwise plain armor. This would make for further character and gear customization, and I figure you can never have enough of that. Thoughts?

I always giggled when my Warden ran around with the crest of the Antivan Crows on his shields.
But I would think if there were a heraldry, it would be Hawke's own.

perhaps a system similar to fable 1 where you could create your own custom tattoos you just had to create your own texture from a template

I loved heraldry in Awakening. My Cousland slapped his family crest on every shield in the party. It added a bit of realism and personalization to the game. I'd love to see it carried into DA2.

I love heraldry, so I hope that feature will be continued. Though I doubt we'd be given any more Feraldan crests... but the heraldry of the Free Cities would be cool too, I suppose. It might be even more important there, given that you're dealing with city-states and not a unified kingdom.

Heraldry was awsome, My mage AW was finally able to run around with the shield of the Grey Wardens. I would also love to make custom heraldries for hawke.

I think they will bring it back, it was so well received that I don't see why they would leave it out. I hope they give us a way to customize the color and design of armor/robes too. There's already a mod for this, I don't think it would be too hard to implement.

Well, was going to start a new thread but the search function worked it's magic! Was wondering if we could get a developer response about this topic? I really enjoyed the heraldry function that was added in Awakening and hope it makes another appearance, possibly an expanded one, in DA2.

Agreed. But I'd like them to extend it further and just put a empty template there and you design your own. Within the limits of DA's lore of course and not goofy emblems that have nothing to do with DA.
They need to remove the overpowered attribute gains too. The Legion of the Dead gave like +20 to all stats...was that seriously intended?

I don't think they will, because I have reason to believe that the shields won't be son bland and generic this time around. Have any of you seen the picture of the Lion of Orlais shield that comes with the Black Emporium. It's a freaking lion head. It would be pretty silly to have a Kirkwall logo pasted onto the face of gold lion shield. If the other shields follow suit, and are more creative/detailed, then I doubt heraldry will be in the game.

That's certainly a possibility. My only hope is that, if they do keep some of the armor or shields looking more generic they do give us an opportunity to use that heraldry function again. If the majority of the armor has a custom look like the Lion of Orlais shield then I'd agree we probably won't be seeing it.
