I generally pick names for RPGs based on their setting...Shepard is always Eden (and John, just because I think it fits him), as is any sci-fi/modern lady, like the Lone Wanderer (goddamn President!), occasionally Evelyn or Ifra if I don't like the ring of it.



But since we have a pre-named sister I'm not sure what to call her. If our sister is really Bethany (I can't remember if anyone's really confirmed that), I'll probably do what Ulicus is doing and go with a Hebrew name from the New Testament.

Actually I don't care too much in giving my character a name which no one will ever use to refer to my pc in the whole game.

I mean, if they have to give us a surname they could also give us a name, like in Alpha Protocol.

Being called by everyone you met by your surname is annoying but can work in a game like ME, where you are in a military group such as the Alliance. Not sure it works so well in a fantasy game where actually most of the characters are known by their names and where you also has a sister as a companion (I mean, she's Hawke too).
