Hi all
I have downloaded and installed the patch from this site, but my game stoped working after.
I pressed "play" on the splash Dragon Age screen, and nothing would happen, the game wouldn't launch.
I use Windows Vista 32 bit version.
the game worked fine before, and I had to install it again to contnue to play.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Usually caused by a copy of Windows that is not kept up to date via Windows Update. Windows Update, if functioning properly, should be automatically downloading the latest C++ runtime libraries which would allow you to run Dragon Age 1.01. Incidentally the update that is in question was released back in July.

do you have to restart your pc after installing the windows update?

Assuming that was the only one installed, nope. If you used Windows Update, Windows Update will tell you whether it requires a restart or no.

Has Bioware even acknowledged anything is wrong? I should just return the game and tell them it isn't playable.

Having the same problem, game was fine before patch, now wont start, stays on the splash screen and when play button is depressed-nothing.
Called helpline, didnt seem to me upon talking to rep that they were aware of the issue, didnt give me any useful advice on fixing it other than uninstall the game.

I installed the patch. It broke my game. I installed the fix as mentioned above. It didnt help. (I am running XP Home Edition). I am now just going to uninstall the damn game. Bioware has screwed this whole thing up big time. I HATE the EA account system, the DLC system, etc, and now they send out a broken patch? Im sorry, I have better things to do with my time than fiddle around with lazy or inept developers.

I have followed the advice given above to update the windows runtime libraries, I have done this and the game is now working fine---for info running on Vista.
Hope you guys are able to sort it, very frustrating.

Bioware will not acknowledge any problem with this ..becasue its not a bioware problem. Its a microsfto problem and people not keeping thier systems current with proper packages. The only folks who have this problem are folks who have the auto updater turned off or have hacked copys of windows and cant update..

I have the original Windows vista 32, and the auto update on, so that theory isnt very valid... Theres more folks out there with the same problem, and I think BioWare should give costumers a better service, by adressing this issue themselves. I hope the upcomming MMO SWTOR has a much better costumer support, and dont rely only on other helpfull costumers.
I have downloaded the fix provided from previous posts and the game works fine now.
Thanks for your help.
