Could it be related to the Dragon Cult in any way?

A dragon cult that kills Dragons? Could be... Actually Nevarran dragon hunters are also something that is not explored and need to be clarified...

blood magic was ridiculous , i though i was going to be like vampire sucking life out of my enemies instead you damage yourself every time you cast a spell. What a joke . Evil people are narcissists , they never harm themselves willingly .

What you mean is the Blood Magic you get to do is ridiculous.

I could not agree more, if you compared that to the Blood Magic that the Tevinter Magisters used to do. THAT was crazyly powerful.

One major thing to keep in mind is that the Chantry rose to power after the blight. Insofar as the first blight was concerned, there was no such thing as blood magic in the way we know it in game, as taboo ritual. It was just magic. The Imperium was overrun with darkspawn for centuries, so they were presumably working on some kind of intervetion. The Grey Wardens are probably the result of magical research.

The archdemon kept returning, it was likely observed rising, they investigated its blood because that would be due course for magic in that period, and eventually a group came toghether that realized the only way to kill the archdemon for good was to create a counter-vessel. This meant an order dedicated to archdemon killing, ergo Grey Wardens.

I only care about these facts:

1. Avernus is a Grey Warden.

2. He lived for centuries.

3. My Wardens who drank his concoction and let him live will survive as well. No "calling", no problems. Still infertile, but who cares.

Avernus used blood magic to survive. So unless your Grey Warden has a blood mage of his caliber handy or is one, living for centuries is not likely.

Yes. Thanks for correcting my retroactive views of Blood magic. You are right in saying that Blood magic equated to magic in ancient times.... Thus it is infintely more likely that GWs arose as a result of carefully done research as compared to sheer chance.

Both. A blood mage himself and have Avernus in his pocket, sorry, Peak.
