Hi, I want to know how frequent can a companion earn their attributes points? is it every 4 levels same as the main character?
Also, I am confused whether to increase the strength or dexterity of Ordo ?(The Initial strength of him is higher than that of dex but he is a heavy weapon carrier)

Yes, it's every four levels for everybody.
If you want Canderous to continue using guns, you should increase his dexterity. If you want him to switch over to melee (which is what I usually do), strength is the way to go.

And i have another question, what is the differences between heavy weapon and rifle? is heavy weapon have a higher damage with lower firing rate while vice versa for rifle?

The main difference is just what specific guns you can use, since every gun you find will be classed as one of the three.
Blaster pistols do tend to be light, and are ideal for dual-wielding/off-hand use (and I believe the only guns that can be used for such). Blaster rifles are generally pretty middle of the road, and include some odd weapons such as Bowcasters under their proficiency. Heavy weapons usually do the most damage.
I don't believe the firing rate is actually changed by weapon type, since that would be coming from your number of attacks per round and possibly the Rapid Shot feat.
That's from what I can remember, anyhow. As I recall, the best heavy guns are the best ones. It's been a while since I played through the game, though, so my memory on the matter is certainly subject to faults.
