Just a tip for people who were confused by this as I was. You do not have to purchase RtO again to download the Mac version, just go to Profile -> Your registered game promotions and click 'More info' next to RtO.
Still downloading so can't really tell if there's a difference yet.
How to download RtO if you bought it already.

Doesn't seem to be any difference from what I can tell. Actually it'll put a second RtO in your addins list so it might be a bad idea.

Actually, does the Mac version generate the correct Achievement symbol in your profile? The "workaround" version didn't.

.dmg.tgz? — a DMG in a TAR container compressed with GZIP? — someone really does not know what he is doing. A properly done DMG files are already compressed. Besides, you don't need the TAR container if only one file need compressing.

I was around to see that change firsthand- pure .dmgs are a little sensitive to interruptions- I found this out after I ended up with 8GB of dead weight after a 'completed' download
I've had no issue with the .tgz wrapped ones.
