Hardened Alistair's a better King anyway.

Agree completely. Cream puffs are for eating, not marrying. And certainly not for ruling.

Sounds like the "wires" are crossed if I'm getting the wrong break-up dialogue. But like I said, at least he'll marry the Warden in my game if he's hardened.

Edit: Sorry for any confusion me and my gimpy game caused. You don't have to harden Alistair!! ;)

Edit: Zevran has the nicer proposal.  Oh yeh, that's right :D  He's the only one who says anything that CAN be viewed as a proposal!

/ducking and running away.

Zevran is indeed a nice fellow, but personally I prefer him as friend (with a little sex just for the fun of it:whistle:) than as lover.

Something else: If Alistair is solo king and the epilogue says that he learns how to govern well and is loved by the people, is this for hardened or unhardened?

What is the other possible epilogue?

Well, when you suggest it, does he say, "you're joking.  Tell me you're joking."

If you get that, then he's not in love, he's at adore, and your persuade skill is not high enough.

If you get the "this is where I wake up," without him saying something like, "You will?" first, then you picked "Alistair" instead of, "Alistair will be king, and I will rule beside him."

You're getting the correct break up dialog -- it happens post landsmeet.  You're leaving the landsmeet without him agreeing to marry you.

That's for hardened. Unhardened, everyone still loves him and he spends much time away from court meeting the people which only a few people realize is becuase he's basically playing hooky. And if you're chancellor (or Eamon if you're not) then the business at court literally grinds to a halt when you're not there.

Just saying, if you want a proposal, it's the other male love interest to look to!

And that's his hardened epilogue.  Unhardened he's sneaking out to party with the people and they love him for it.

I always give him a gift right before the Landsmeet so his approval bar is maxed out if it already isn't. And I do always pick the dialogue option of "Alistair and I will rule together" but he always tells me to eff off unless he's hardened. So yeah... the wires are crossed somewhere.

What does he say, though?  The "You're joking," line?

You can be at 100 Adore, however.  It has to be love, his personal quest has to be done for an automatic persuade pass.  Now, to get him to marry you your persuasion doesn't have to be maxed out.

If you were getting the wrong line, he'd say you weren't of noble blood.

Edit: Honestly, if you haven't done his personal quest, it doesn't matter if his approval is -25 (yes, MINUS 25) or 100.  You still need to be able to pass a high persuade check (3 points in persuasion or the equivalent in cunning + persuasion).

I assure you, he was at 'love'. I'd done his personal quest, I'd picked practically every line to intiate romance and what have you.

I don't remember exactly what he said as HNF was one of the first games I played. He seemed to accept the fact that we'd rule together at the Landsmeet, but afterward I'd get the "go away" dialogue.

Oooh, yeh, there was a bug in the post-landsmeet conversation and Alistair dumped a lot of wardens, male and female, at varying approval levels.

It has been since fixed, though.  It wasn't consistent either.

There is a mod out there that lets anyone, including male characters, marry Alistair and become "queen".

Maybe I'll start a new game one of these days and leave Alistair unhardened. See if he agrees to marry me that time around.

He should. He marries my neutral warden and accepts her trying to make the heir with someone else.

Well... bugger. Oh well. At least he'll marry my Warden if I harden him. Picky bastard. lol

It may have to do with your Persuade ability.

There is a Mod that you can use if you aren't a HNF to get him to marry you. Only on the PC though

It doesn't mean he will marry you. Her... He will stay together though if you harden his personality in his quest. I was wondering though if you did that as a human noble would he marry you of his own will or not...

He won't propose on his own.  Your PC always has to do the driving (er, so to speak).

Edit - spelling is gud

Awww rats, he's such a chicken. Oh well.

Dunno, I haven't got that far yet. I'm now on my second playthrough as a human noble. *fingers crossed* I will be so mad if he doesn't make me Queen this time...

he won't Gem. The game doesn't have an option to make him propose, it doesn't know what you intend for your ending.  You must sieze the opportunity when the option comes up at Landsmeet or he will go into breakup/mistress mode with even a HNF he loves.  His response to the engagement is adorable too hehePosted Image
