I'd like to talk about some things I do like about what I've seen so far.

I noticed that "Hawke" is wearing a fur type cloakish thing on his shoulders. That is awesome.
I also noticed he has an arm tattoo. Tattoos are also awesome.

This makes me wonder if he's some sort of Tribesman (Chasind perhaps?).

While I am still upset about being unable to play an elf or dwarf, playing as either an apostate or Chasind would certainly make up for that.

Here's hoping.:D

I do hope there is some kind of background choice (Even if it was like ME's) or maybe the background changes based on class. The same background for a warrior may not work for a mage. Theres also Bethany to consider

Chasind could be possible, there was a group of Chasind at Lothering after all.

Do you mean the tatoo on his arm?
Yes it is awesome, it looks a bit like what the female Seeker was wearing on her armor (a sun with an eye in it) but it could also be a Chasind sign i'm not sure.

It's a Chantry symbol, not Chasind.

Gah! I certainly hope you're wrong about that. I hate the Chantry.

Pretty sure I saw the same symbol on Leliana's Chantry robe. However, I can't find a good screenshot of it...

Well you know, Hawke is supposed to be customizable. The "default" male Hawke could have a full body Chantry tatoo, but that doesn't mean you have to have that.

Even if it is a chantry symbol, I'm sure you'll be able to view the chantry however you like as in DAO.  Some folks saw good in what the chantry did, others saw it as an instrument of evil.  I think it very unlikely they would force you to be a chantry supporter.

On a side note, I really am curious about much of Hawke's background we can define.  I'm also still curious as whether or not his sister was already in the free marches and he went to join her or if she wasin lothering with him?

Well isn't the story all about how the Templars are corrupt and taking over the free marches? Think you will have to fight em or join em.

No, we don't know that the story is "all about" that.  There is some evidence that the templars in Kirkwall are power-hungry, but overall it's too early to say.

In the past people who stole, pirates and slaves got brands on their bodys, maybe Hawke gets sold as a slave in the Free Marches?

Starting as a slave could be interesting, and would keep with some of the Conan parallels (depending on which Conan origin you prefer.)

Could even work a Ben Hur or Spartacus theme here.  (Hopefully if the spartacus route with a happier ending.  Tragedy has its place in art, and can often be poingant but I'm a sucker for a happy ending!)

You're kidding right? Or is this one of the Jersey Real Houswives posting? Yay fur/tatts?

The fur collar he's got going on is pretty cool, has a sort of 'wild' feel to it. I have a feeling it's deliberate in the artwork and related to his last name, Hawke, similar to the clawed gauntlet. That's not to say that fur is always good, though. I direct you to the abominable Tevinter robes with the fur shoulderpads. Do not want.

Edit: or was that the Chasind Robes? Or both?

Both Tervinter and Chasind robes had the furry shoulders.

I like the furry collar and the tattoos. If they make him somewhat tribal, all the better.

As far as I know there hasn't been anything at all about the story. Just speculation of the fact that Kirkwall is ruled by the templars and the chantry. I could be wrong though.

No, I'm a guy first of all, second I don't even watch that show or whatever it is.

I just happen to like fur on armor, makes it look more badass in my opinion. Tattoos do the same thing for a person's body. If you don't like norse looking armor and also don't like tattoos, well, you need to realize that there are people who think this looks good. As it seems you seem to think that old lady hair looks good on your character. Yay Grannies/albinos?
