Although I can set the day/night/battle music in the toolset I somehow can't hear the night music when I test my module. I've tried checking the day/night cycle in the area properties and the day music just keeps playing for 24 hours. Is this some sort of a bug or am I just missing something?

No bugs with music, It works fine you can even script a music change if you want.

You must have done something wrong. Has you area got a night/day cycle ?

Yes but that doesn't seem to do the trick.

I forgot to mention, that I'm using Dragonsbane777's 3C Music Pack http://nwvault.ign.c...ed.Detail&id=16

Anyway, this downloaded music works very well and I can hear it in the toolset as well as in the game itself. But the music doesn't switch to night mode.

Dumb Questions:

Is the Module Property: Always Night = True?

Are the Day/Night settings set to run Normal or Fast?

Is the Music set and saved in the appropriate portion of the Day/Night cycle sections?

Yes, I know they're dumb questions. I don't have any smart ones.

1) AlwaysNight is set to False

2) The Day/Night settings in the toolset are set to Normal

3) If you mean the Sound section of the area properties tab, then yes.

This happens even if I use the default music that came with the original NWN2 game. It's just the night music that doesn't seem to work, there are no problems with battle music during battles.

And if you take out that music pack and do nothing else, does night music work then?

Nothing changes, daytime music just keeps playing for 24 hours, even though the sky changes and the moon comes out.

Maybe my module is missing some kind of script that's responsible for switching the audio to nighttime? Though that would be wierd since I haven't yet meddled with scripts.

No it really works alone. I have nevers done anything for music. Are you sure you night music is in the night music field and not an ambiant field ?

Recently I have done a script that change both night/day music and put them back on. no problem at all. It's a really robust feature.

Try a new mod with nothing and use Original game music in it.

New mod, original music, but still the same problem I'm afraid.

Yes, my night music is in the proper field, in fact day/night ambient sounds use a completely different sound list. Just in case, I'll mention 2 things:

1) I'm using a different version of the toolset (Polish),

2) I can only hear day music in the toolset, I am not sure if that's the way it should work. If I want to listen to a song to check if it suits my area I have to choose it from the Day music drop-down list (and of course switch the music on).

you can only hear day music in toolset. But in game the night music is in.

That's what I thought. So the issue here is still the fact that nighttime music won't play in the game. Maybe I could use that script of yours or something similar to change the music manually if it doesn't switch automatically?

Day and Night music won't go off when combat music is on. Any enemies around? It also probably won't go off if you are in an Interior or Underground area as they don't really have day/night cycles. Not sure though.

Does it require a 2da, like the ambientmusic.2da? The toolset and game play from two separate areas. Documents for toolset and Atari for the game. Do you have the hakpack and/or 2da in the Atari section? It won't load files from the toolset section. (I'm pretty sure.) It will load the module from there though. And campaigns. I think individual movies and music files must also be in the Atari section. Haven't tested this in years so I can't remember. If not, 2das in the override folder might be the problem.

All I got.

No, I'm having this problem on an exterior area with the day/night cycle with no enemies around.

I am using a modified ambientmusic.2da with music from BG, IWD etc. and it's in the My Documents\\Neverwinter Nights 2\\override folder. The game plays this new music without any trouble, it just doesn't swith to nightime music when it's supposed to.

Try without your custom 2DA, the problem is probably comming from it, take it out from your override folder. I  knew you weren't telling everything.... That 2da is changing everything.

I've allready tried removing it and working only with the default music but it didn't help. The problem is not caused by the downloaded ambientmusic.2da.

you need to remove it from you override documment folder and overide folder in NWN2 main directory as in any hak where it could be.

Your music isn't changing beceause the game probably don't find it.

Try with clean override folder, no hak nothing, no 2DA in your module or campaign folder as well. Just the default setting, and you'll see that it works fine.

Do it with something really clean.
When you played the game you had night and day mucic didn't you ?

No one ever got any problem with that. So you did something.

You screwed somewhere with your custom content. That's all.

I did just as you said and still nothing has changed, the nighttime music still won't play...

But you've given me a thought. I actually don't remember the OC that well and wether the proper track played during nighttime or not. I will check this out as soon as I can (I'll have to start all over and the first area with a day/night cycle are the docks, I'm afraid). Until then I'm keeping my override folders clean.

I will edit this post as soon as I find out if this is also an issue in the OC.

EDIT: Oh happy days... and nights! Nighttime music works, and it works fine with the ambientmusic.2da downloaded from NWVault!

It turns out that there wasn't a problem at all. Before I tried to test nighttime music in the game I changed the starting hour in Module Properties to 1, 2 or 3, so I wouldn't have to wait for the night to come each time I was testing my module and daytime music always played instead. But when I waited until morning and then waited some more until the second night, voila! Night music started playing! So I guess this inconvenience vanishes after the first night or doesn't appear at all if the module starts during daytime.

Thank you all for your help and sorry for this silly mistake on my behalf.
