In your opinion.

We've established that a silent protagonist is superior if you want to direct expression rather than intent.

I didn't mind a silent protagonist until I played ME for the first time and really enjoyed the VA. I'm looking forward to a voiced PC in DA2, but the VA is going to have a lot to carry on his/her shoulders. Given the great VA for the companions in DA:O, however, I'm not too worried.

Only if they bundle togeher whole conversations and cutscenes in a single file would this cause problems.  I'm asking BioWare not to do that.

It's too late to ask...

Thats what quick fingers are for.
Hawke is talking! Mute! Bethany is talking! Unmute!
You can make a game of it!

I hate mini-games...no thank you.

And if you want more content, dialogue choices, opportunities for a subtler roleplay...

Some fellow fans seem to forget that the choice is not merely between "mute protagonist" and "protagonist with the same exact amount of dialogues, only dubbed" - it's between "mute protagonist with a lot more things to say" and "dubbed protagonist with less dialogue options".

Of course, if people still prefer VA, fair enough (and Bio is going to do it anyway, it seems). Just remember that there is a price to pay for your "immersion". Posted Image

I am not voting either.

If there was an option for "voiced but still rpg" then i would have voted.

You said have a third option for those of us who don't want one more than the other...

I think they both have their flaws and positives. Both can be done really right or really wrong. As long as it's done right, I don't care.

For DA2? Voiced no question. That doesn't mean I have to like the voice regardless of the performance of the VA , just that I would prefer a voiced protagonist given the story.

protagonist in DAO because there is no way anyone person could have had a varied enough voiced for wardens with up 24 unique beginning (including gender, race, origin and class). Hawke has a set origin and race with the two major variable being gender and class, a lot easier to deal with on the VA front since honestly class is the least important difference.

Unless they're radically changing stuff, it looks like cutscenes are dependent on conversations. There doesn't seem to be any conceptual problem here.

Once you see those scenes one time, you usually just skip them...so game content will be axed in favor of...oh joy, a more cinematic cutscene you'll fast forward through most of the time anyways.

I would like unvoiced.... Practically every game is voiced and in third person. By just existing, DAO provided variety in my life.

You might want to post links to this poll in the other DA forums. I know a lot of people who don't come here to the DA2 forum, particularly those whith very strong opinions against the changes that have been announced.

Heh, it's your poll. I'm not going to do the work to make it representative. ;)

hmmm well i think if the voicing works will hang on the writers )no concerns here and on the actors. those must not get to emotional or something so it is still my answer, just expressed in the world...

I voted silent, however, I really do not care whether the protagonist is voiced or not from an immersion perspective.

I voted silent because I fear the amount of voice over work required for the protagonist and the space limitations on non-bluray medium will actually limit the overall length of the game significantly. Just got a very bad feeling that DA2 is going to be a 10hour adventure game. Hope I am wrong though.

I prefer voiced like in Mass Effect series. But with a better voice actor say lie Mark Hamil now that would be awsome.

Voiced. Because it adds to the movie-feeling, make the dialogues more natural and character will look like a person and not a puppet that has a big problem with the voice.

Mute protagonist always has more to say?  Maybe...but they tend to speak in rather short, clipped sentences, while NPCs can ramble on and on.

Also realize: People dissatisfied with the game's direction are more likely to browse the forums, and even more likely to post on them. People satisfied with the game aren't going to have many problems and thus not much to say.
