I'm not sure I'd go so far as exponentially, and it's certainly a matter of preference. That said, I do prefer playing it multiplayer and making the whole party myself. I assume that's what you meant?

Actual multiplayer is fun, too, if you have the right sort of people to play with.

What is it with you and trolling? But at least you put some substance in your first threads.

If this is trolling, you're mighty sensitive.

I enjoy the game Single Player, but playing it with a friend or two makes it FAR better.

So what was the purpose of this thread, if not to try to bait people into arguing with you?

Gotta agree with Irrbloss here, this certainly looks like trolling.

It wasn't. If you interpreted it that way, well, I won't expand on my thoughts there, because this topic would definitely turn into a flame war. I was playing multiplayer with a friend and during a break came here to make the post.

That is all.

Just a point about the OP, though: you should expand on a subject title a bit more than just making it a statement. After all, it's a discussion forum. Otherwise, yes, it does come across as spam (or trolling in some cases, depending on the subject).

Okay. I can respect that. If you feel the need you can just close the topic.

Oh, no need to lock it. It's a valid discussion point if anyone cares to discuss it. :police:

For my part, I've not played any game since my MUDding days with other players (and even then I played the loner). It's just not something I've had the opportunity, time, or inclination to pursue. So, I'm not so sure about the "exponentially better" part.

For me, it's just that I can't get into the characters this game offers. But when I have a friend playing the role, it's their personality as that character, and I find that a lot more enjoyable. Parts of the game can be frustrating with multiple players (trying to organize an AoE spell for example), but it's part of the experience.

For whatever reason, I don't like most of the NPCs in either game (I'm not sure there even are enough that I like for a full party). I'm pretty picky that way, actually. I don't in most games. So, I prefer to create my own party, because then all of their personalities are up to me. It makes the game more different each time around as well if every character is different.

It's also fun for me to do actual multiplayer, as that's almost more like face-to-face roleplaying. Multiplayer is pretty heavily dependant on the person/people you're playing with, though. I usually only play with my family, who have a very similar outlook to mine on roleplaying and enough time to finish the game.

Someday I'll probably talk myself into giving the NPCs another chance.

Exactly.  I can take one of the Bioware crafted NPCs with me and stand them for a while, but I eventually wish they were a certain way instead of what they are - and I'm not talking about skills/kits/proficiencies.

It's weird, because with DA:O, I had no problem forming a party.  I enjoyed most of the NPCs, so I felt I had a lot of likeable characters and not enough room to take them all.  With BGI/BGII, I feel like there aren't nearly enough characters I like, and too many spots to fill.  I know I don't need to do a six person party, but even if I'm just doing a four person party, finding three canon NPCs is tough.  In BGI, making a multiplayer party isn't detrimental to my experience because it isn't like I'm missing anything, but with BGII, I'm missing out on a lot of dialogue and character quests.  It's like I'm gutting half the game.  To me, it feels like a missed opportunity... all these available characters and none of them being enjoyable for me to party with long-term.  I basically just take my 4 person multiplayer party, fill the fifth slot with a canon NPC, help them with their quest, and then dump them ASAP.

I personally enjoy making an entire party, because I'm too lazy to download Shadowkeeper or similiar devices that allow me to change NPCs at my whim. But if you do miss the NPC interaction, and as I understand from another thread you're looking into becoming part of the modding community, maybe it might be useful to consider making a mod for your own NPCs, the way you want them. Judging from the number of NPC mods, it can't be too difficult :-) I might look into myself.

I wouldn't worry about the quests that you are missing cipher86 by not taking in NPCs. These quests are usually only interesting if you like the NPC in question. If you dont the quest is small and insignificant.

The NPCs are a big part of why I have played this games so many times, I usually find that there are too many NPCs that I want in my party (so I in turn start another campaign with a slightly different party setup).

In Dragon Age I pretty much only liked Alistair and Morrigan, but yeah...
