What I want to prevent is so many stickies that folks would have scroll too far down a page to find non-stickied topics. As Stanley stated, we want to keep the forums useable and neat as possible.
So far, I have nixed only one suggestion, all the rest are still on the table.

A new sticky should include the "place your scripting resource links here please" thread but SO many of the old links are dead or replaced by spammy domain parking pages. We should compile the survivors into a single post.

1) Must I place all the pertinent discussion into a single post or will I be able to add more related posts as the transfer evolves? Some of the legacy stickies are HUGE with helpful information spread out all over the thread (as most of you are well aware). Or will the new sticky only be accessable by the moderators?
2) Should I take subjective license to omit any portion of the original thread which I deem non sequitur? For example, replies like "That's a great idea man!" or "That never works when I try it.", etc... basically any replies that do not contribute actual "usable" information.
3) Are you folks involved in transferring topics giving credit to the originators of the legacy post data and if so, how detailed (I.D. of each contributor or just the OP? original date of each contribution?)?
Before I begin this I would appreciate some guidance. I intend to do it once, only.

The boards here do not have some of the advantages the other boards had. I will not focus on them, but rather focus on taking advantage of what the boards here have to offer.
one of the great advantages of the boards here is the ability to edit posts over a month old. To me this means that stickys would be better used as a index of links that can be updates.
I am also more confindent after looking at posts that have already been archived on the boibards that links made to the other site will not break after archiving. If they are not going to break after archiving. we are better served just making an index to the info on the other site and making a sticky out of that.
One of the problems, on editing posts on this site, is that some of the formating seems to get lost in the Edits. To over come this I suggest that anyone making a post that they think will have a need to be edited in the future, write and save the post in a text editor. This way when it comes time to edit the post all you have to do is open the saved text and edit it, then copy and paste it over your original post.
The sticky since it can now be become an index that can be kept up to date. Kind of like B_Harrison is doing with the Custom Content Tools on the CC board. People make suggestions of tools to add in the posts below the index and he adds them to the index.
Another thing that can be done with this index to to make links to other posts or threads on this board that are of interest. My concern here is that I Do not know if the boards here dlelte posts after an amount of time.
For color selection for the post. I have found this chart useful:
http://www.bbc.co.uk...15?skin=classic
If you wanted to make links to a single post on the old Bioboards. Like this:
http://nwn.bioware.c...15&post=2005871
It can be done but takes a little more work.
First you have to find the url for the page the post is on.
Then change the 'viewtopic' part of the url to 'viewpost'
and at the end of the url you need to add '&post=' followed the post number.
getting the post number is the part that takes the work.
If the post has a code block in it is is easy. just open the code block and the post number will be added to the new url for the 'viewcodepost' page.
IF there is no code block in the post, The only way i have found for finding the number is by opening the source code for the post. In windows explorer I do this from the view menu ans selecting source once the source code is open I can find all the post numbers on the page by doing a search for rowspan="3"><a name=" following this number will be a few more lines of HTML code and the the body of the post it is for.
I hope this information is usefull.
Concidering the amount of time ti could take to put together a good sticky. I would suggerst that you let others know you are working on it. or at least what you are working on so efforts dont get duplicated.
My opinion anyway.
L8
Edit: another thing i find usefull is the BBCode [list I use it all the time to endent stuff in my posts.

a) It's information or Content that is important & pertains to the NWN Game, Builders /
Scripters, or the NWN community as a whole. (Players or what have you)
c) It's something which is useful to all. (Something that pertains to a specific group is not valid.)
d) It's not a topic that is already stickied, unless it's a better creation (more encompassing), than the old topic, which
would then unqualify the old sticky, being replaced by the new sticky.
e) The content of the post not be confusing to anyone, so be precise and clear! (Confusion is bad for all.)
The third one is important, because we don't want multiple different stickies which pertain to x,y, or z guilds or organizations, this of course will prevent cluttering and excessive stickies..
I think if the topic meets those 5 criteria it should be good to go.
Of course all stickied post should be watched and cleaned by moderators to prevent unecessary post, spamming, flaming, and anything that would constitute a violation of the forum rules... (Naturally)
And for my final Nomination for Sticky:
I Nominate:
Under EACH section of the forums, a formal & premier sticky by the moderators of these forums, which would include a clear yet concise (Shortened) defintion of the rules of these forums AND more importantly a clear definition of what IS NOT a valid post in EACH forums this premier sticky will be posted (in each seperate forum).
I know that may seem excessive, but I think it's a necessary evil, so we don't have flaming upon what is and what is NOT a valid topic or discussion... (Your thoughts on this moderators?)
