My 1st Post!
Welcome to the forum!
I also based my choices on how often I ignore those characters. To elaborate:
Miranda was cool up until she started whining about the weight of her responsibilities and the repercussions of her potential failures. My internal monologue at that point went something like: "Oh gawd. Really? Did you die? Because I died. Hold that thought while I go get my little violin: so I can play it for you."
Jacob: I really don't have anything against the guy. I also really don't have anything for him. He was an interesting character before Shepard eclipsed his very existence with her untamed libido. That basically pretty much creeped me out, so I began avoiding him altogether.
Then there's Jack. I could probably take her more seriously if she wasn't running around half naked all the time.

Tali: shotguns suck and legion is better
Zaeed:inferno grenade is usless against anything more than a husk
Jacob:Shotguns suck snd miranda has way better powers (passive squad dmg bonus is underated)
Story wise
Tali:Nothing against tali but causes too many problems on the ship and seems to get along with noone but shepard and has no intresting place where her personal story could go
Kasumi:just a lame character IMO
Zaeed: selfish ass deserves to die

But the Miranda hate, never understood it. She starts off like a Morrigan, and while you can get underneath the hard edge of both characters, Miranda actually changes in the end, whereas Morrigan just slightly second-guesses herself. For instance, take Miranda to the final fight on the suicide mission and destroy the base, she officially became one of my fave characters after that scene.

Miranda: Never use her and her personality is a bit 'meh' for me
Jacob: Never use him, and while I don't hate his personality I don't love it either. Very much expendable soldier for me. Plus he's always giving bad advice that would result in utter mission failure. WTH, Jacob?
Thane: Sorry Thane, your powers are useless to me and your eyes kind of freak me out.

I always find it interesting that everyone calls Miranda a **** when in the last third of the game (after loyalty mission) she is anything but one, and you don't have to romance her even to see it! Unlike a certain tattooed psychopath who is a B***H all the way up until the final romance scene. (not to say Jack isn't a well done character, she is very well written, I just hate her).

Im with you...and the only reason she's a **** to you in first half is due to how important she thinks the mission is which seems reasonable to me that she dosen't want to fail so humanity gets harvested till extinction.

So anyway, for me it'd be Grunt, Wrex and Kaidan.
I would say Jack because almost everything about her is painful to behold. She's such a horrible cliché of some angsty "grrl". She seems less traumatised by her past and more like she's going through puberty. I'd probably think she was pretty cool if I was 15. She's just saved by the utter plainness of Kaidan and the fact that Grunt and Wrex may as well be called "krogan party member #1" and "krogan party member #2".

I think Jacob's VA did a good job, and he is trustworthy, but his character development is just so "meh". Like most people say, they could kill him off before ME3 (i.e. never reintroduce him) and I don't think a lot of people would even notice

Thane- He is dying from Keprals syndrome in less than a year, so he isnt returning
Zaeed- he makes the game seem stupid, everyone under his command died, then if you read about the Blue Suns in the codex, it says they are formed by a batarian(forget his name) yet in the loyalty, he say=id Vido and him formed it

Jacob- Two words: Da priiize.

Zaeed - DLC, never really got to know him, so I'm not attached.
Thane - He's terminal, so.. yeah. Sorry Thane-romancers, :<
Jacob or Liara - Argh, tough choice for a third one. I don't actively dislike either of them, but I'm ambivalent about both. I'd probably consider Miranda too for this spot, but I love her VA too much. >_>
The only character I truly hate is Kaidan, but he's already dead for me, and that's good enough.

Jack
Tali
Kasumi
All of them are boring, Kasumi doesn't have enough development, Tali's development is overrated and overplayed, Jack is just ****ing annoying with the "Oh, I'm a badass" ****

Legion- He is a robot.
Samara- She's an old lady. And she's all fulfilled with the whole finally killed my daughter thing she was on about for 400 years. She will find peace in the embrace of the goddess.

That said, if we are only using ME 2 characters, my list would be:
- Jack - Abused or not, she has issues and if her DNA ever made it into a reaper we are all screwed.
- Tali - How much more do I have to do for this creature?
- Miranda - I know she is all powerful mail order genetic mutant but she still has to learn her place.

Anyway...
Jack - Too ****ing crazy and though she has a reason for her crazy, she's done a lot of stupid an heinous **** that makes me care less if she lives or not. She's too risky and unstable.
Thane - Going to die soon anyway, cool character though.
Kasumi - Didn't care for her. HEY GUISE SHE'S JAPANESE THOUGH! Seriously though she's probably done a lot of stupid and heinous **** too. Couldn't care less if she died.

Kasumi - I like her, but there just isn't the same depth from other characters.
Ashley - If I can kill her twice (she died on Vermire). If not, then Miranda. I don't need someone telling me how to run my ship, spying on me, and ready to stab me in the back. Yes, my Paragon "flipped" her during the endgame, but still...
I would totally keep Jack. On my third or fourth play-through I finally spent enough time to really talk with and romance her. She opened up into an interesting and surprisingly "human" character. If pressed, I'd dump Jacob but I liked more of him than I disliked.
