If the Reaper footsoldiers are coming and ive got to hold them back while Shep sets up the super mega fusion bomb that kills the Reapers, I want the best of the best doing it. (I really love these characters, but would trust no one else to hold the line.)
Miranda (strong leader, amazing biotic.)
Garrus (Amazing with a sniper rifle or assault rifle, would listen to Miranda.)
Wrex OR Thane (assuming I can get Thane at ME2 power, anything less and I dont want him.)
Wrex is the standard "super strong, amazing with shotguns, nice biotic" tank character.
Thane complements Garrus incredibly well. Both can really work a sniper rifle,Thane is arguably just a little bit better.
If I cant have Wrex or Thane given the fact that both could die, as my third character im going with..... Tali. Not that I want her to die, but of the "Core" characters that I really,really dont want to die, she isnt in it.
Those 3 could hold a line incredibly well. I say no to Zaeed because I think he would fight with Miranda over semantics "GO OVER THERE" "THERE IS NO OVER THERE" some bs like that lol.

Jacob, he's useless to me in battle and he doesn't do anything on the Normandy.
Zaeed, he's also useless, only useful against Geth.
Miranda, she's my favorite person to bring to battle. But she's Cerberus and she's normal also.
Everyone else in the crew is unique. These three are boring and dull.
