 Hello all,
as written in the title, i intend to buy the Digital Deluxe package, not yet decided the vendor. My question is, how will i be able to register the game here? On the regular forums, the registration method used to be using the game key, how will it work here?
I'm asking because i wasn't able to register my copy KoTOR, bought on Steam, because Steam doesn't provide the registration key at all...

I'm going to choose from 3 options:
EAStore - they do send the key in email so no problem with registration, also the price is nice
Direct2Drive - never bought anything from them, the price is the same as from EA
Steam - long-time satisfied customer, they have nice bonus items for DA:O. The price is higher than the previous options but i'd still be OK with it. BUT, as far as i know, they don't provide a registration key.

Is there anyone who is able and willing to advise me?
Thanks in advance!

Once upon a time, when you buy games off Steam they'd provide you with a key and let you register with that key onto whatever account you desire. Now they just automatically register the game for you onto the logged on account. Simpler, but I never thought of a problem like yours.

I think you should ask around on Steam Community forum or seek direct help from Valve, as I expect that only a minority of people here are buying DAO from Steam, and even they, including me, may not hold an answer.

Perhaps a person from BioWare could enlighten this thread with pure and solid information.

BioWare is making this game, moderators moderate the forums, Valve is one of the publishers. You really will have a better chance contacting the publisher.

Surely, BioWare thought of this when they made an agreement with Valve and Steam in the first place?

Try asking your question here as well and see what comes up as a result:

I always thought we'd get a mail or notice with a code to use here, but in the event there's something else planned for the Digital Copies from Steam then that should be sorted now.

D2D sends you e-mails, as well as logging your key to your D2D Account Page.

If you actually get a key, registering it here is the thing you should be doing if you'd like the stat tracking, DLC and pre-order items. These are tied to your BioWare Social/EA Account.

There's a problem however, if Steam doesn't share the key with the buyer.

If purchased through the Steam Store, Steam adds the game to your registered Steam Account directly.

I pre-ordered the Collector's Edition from Direct-to-Drive..far as I know the only way to communicate that sale..is day of release, Direct-to-Drive sends you an email with the registration key inside.

So for now..this site thinks I am not a customer for Dragon Age.  hehe

When buying from steam you can see your CD-key.

Go to the tab "My Games" and right click the game.

From the pop-up menu choose "Show CD-Key".

Simple as that ;)

Unfortunately this advise doesn't seem to be helpful...

I think it will pop up when you start the game first time if it needs to be shown, otherwise, use Steam-support :D

Found out! The game will have external Register Game-option on right-click :) Couple other games had too :D And Char-creator had one... I just don't seem to be able to register here... I registered here with my BioWare-account, enter the info on DACC, pressing online profile throws me on this site and says I'm logged on IN-GAME-account and should register. Same e-mail, same password. Crap. Well, this is beta :D

Some of you doesn't seem to understand the problem (or maybe i don't understand your posts properly, if this is the case please forgive my ignorance), i'll try to summarize.

So, upon buying a digital version of ANY game from the vendors listed in the OP, the buyer gets a perfectly legit copy of the game, which may or may not require a registration key to be activated.

Example: the games bought from the EAStore does not need to be activated or the game is activated in the background, meaning the user doesn't have to enter the code manually.

The vendor may or may not choose to email the game registration key to the user.

Example: EAStore does, Steam doesn't.

The problem is not with activating the game, since the vendor/eshop has already taken care of that; but to register your game on the Bioware site. The site uses the game registration key to identify if the game is legit or not, and then ties the game to the user. problem is, since Steam doesn't send you the key, there is (or was) no way to register your game here, on the Bioware site(s).

What i'm trying to find out, if there will be any means of registering the game here, if i buy it on Steam.

Maybe steam sends an email to bioware and a program strips out your registration information and automatically registers you while dwarves all toast a large cup of mead while singing tales of heroes renowned.
