USA is the only country which used most advanced weapons of mass destruction, etc. That's why I suppose they are tolerable then it boils down to violence. Ironically, being the only suitable bad guys for videogames Americans seldom appear as ones in them.

Hmm.  So it's like playing a porn?  Sort of....creepy, really.  Thanks for the info.

the sort of thing I meant by sensibilities being different.  I think
North America would have a much harder time of creating something like
The Witcher.

Naaaa, Rockstar had graphic nudity and swearing and drug dealing and worse in GTA and they got a Marture rating and their based in North America as a developer.

It takes ALOT to get that AO rating, there is ALOT of freedom in design at the mature ranking from everything we seen!

Witcher could be made in North America, just would require a company not scared off by social activists. I think Bioware pee'd themselves when Fox came after them about alien sex/nudity in ME1 and pulled back the freedom of design at that point! Also doesnt help EA got involved!

For a North American company to make a game like the Witcher (or even Mass Effect 1) you need a independant company with no ties to the major orgs like Sega/EA/Microsoft and willing to pressure through some bad press and activism (which in the end will only increase sales figures anyways).

Till then, we get blood blood blood and more blood!

Ahh the plans I have if I ever win the 50 million Max Millions lotto pool!

LOL would make a game company that did 3 titles and only 3 titles!

High, dark, MATURE Fantasy (very simular to DA:O 1 but longer, darker, more mature and my own IP)
High Dark, MATURE Sci fi (very simular to Mass Effect 1 but my own IP)
And then a cyber punk type RPG game as well!

I would be a pure and simple RPG development house that did RPGs. No BS designs on action and twicth gaming. Just those 3 titles DONE RIGHT!

Based on the close-up screenshot we have of Hawke, the persistent blood looks marginally less bad. It's browner and better splattered, so at least poor Hawke doesn't look like a kindergarten class attacked him with bright red finger paints.



...soooo...marginally less silly. Better, but I'll still probably turn off the persistent gore. Less silly is still silly.

Precisely what I meant by different developers.  I think we actually agree more than not.  I still maintain that we won't see a North American game with an incest backstory (unless it's a very evil antagonist).
