Im confused, does bioware own nwn2 or not? Why is nwn2 always with bioware forums?

What exactly is your boggle?

NWN2 shares the heritage, fanbase, and modding community of the Bioware games. All old format bioware boards are now closed. They are now here. so all that's really changed is the location. And we're all in the happy new facebook-esque community site

The boggle is bioware didnt make the game. Its weird that Atari wouldnt want their own forums.

That argument applied in the other forums you've been posting in for the past few years.

Atari do have NWN2 forums (http://www.ataricomm...splay.php?f=501). Bioware had them alongside the NWN1 forums likely on the back of the community that had beenn built

Eguintar, in the beginning, Bioware (who was providing source code to Obsidian) and Obsidian and Atari all talked it over. It was decided to maintain 'continuity' of the Community that had grown around NWN, that the NWN2 forums should be hosted on Bioware's already well established site (I do hope they got paid at least half of what it would have cost Atari or Obsidian to set all that up themselves) and it's been that way ever since. Even Obsidian's Forums all redirect to the Official Forums (although now it may be directing them to a 'ghost town' if they don't update their links.)

And if Atari had hosted them, we'd all be done by now. I hate to bash, so this is just the unabashed truth: Atari's boards are lower quality than the bare bones vBulletin phpBB boards that I use to maintain and run the Citadel and theirs aren't nearly as functional. (Atari uses the same software I do, how cheap is that?) Also, as far as support goes? It's non-existent. And they just recently moved their forums, too. Since then, the only real support anyone gets over there for NWN2 *(and NWN, which doesn't even have a forum over there) is done by yours truly. Sometimes a guy from Atari pops in, but he mostly only answers those, "Where are my CD-Keys from my Online Purchase?!?" Questions.

So, boggled or not, logical or no, sensical or otherwise, we are in the best place we can be. Rejoice, we could all have been turned out like kicked dogs who'd just pee'd on the carpet in a rainstorm, with nowhere to go but the Citadel and other such smallish places online.

It could be worse. A LOT worse.

Hello Eguintir,

It would indeed seem that Obsidian has been relinquishing it's support of NWN2 which is a real shame. The Bio-ware social site forums arn't as good, but a DNO pointed out it is still better than the Atari forums. The social site has alot of facebook-esk features though rather or not that's a good thing is very debatable. "Work with what you got" though as they say.

I hope you'll start a new thread for The Islander, I'm looking foreword to hearing about it.

I just wondered (all along even) why a company would allow another company to piggy back their forums when there is no $ involved. Sounds like there was $ involved so ok then.

I think rather than start an islander thread I'll just post a release notice in a bit :)

Why didn't Obsidian host it?

Read DNO's post above for that answer.

In light of the "other option" eg having no forum - these are not bad - the only drawback is script posting is so limited - but other functionalities such as embedding video and being able to get our own portraits on here are a fair trade off. Plus I think pastebin is a fair alternative to post formatted scripts via link.
