ok people i worked this out and im proberly not the first but as i havnt seen the post this is what you do. i had the problem my saves were corupted all the bad stuff what is happaning to you guys. what you have to do is transfer your downloadable content Licenses to your new xbox 360 to do this you go on this site www.xbox.com/en-us/support/systemuse/xbox360/licensemigration/default.htm and follow the on screen instructions when you have finished your games will load up
Hi folks, another user posted this in the 1.04 release thread claiming that this fixed his issue. Since it has to do with migrating licenses from an old Xbox360, I'm not sure how useful it will be (read: YMMV, try this at your own risk) - but if anybody tries this and it fixes their problems, would you post here/let me know? Thanks.
edit: for link functionality.

--------------
Hi there everyone. This is my first post in Bioware Social Network, and PHEW! What a life-saver it is.
The exact same thing has happened to me as is happening to everyone else that has the new Xbox 360 Slim. I bought Dragon Age: Origins yesterday and played it for about 3 hours last night (absolutely LOVE this game!). I had no problems whatsoever.
About 45 minutes ago, I switched my Xbox 360 on and got prompted for the update. I accepted and when it was complete, I went to resume my game. It tried loading for about 20 seconds and then froze. I thought it was just probably a standard error as I've had games freeze in the past. Then I restarted my console, and tried loading again. Same thing happened. Tried a 3rd time and AGAIN it froze.
I had installed the game to my hard-drive last night so I deleted it and tried running it from the disc. But again it froze. Then I started panicking, thinking my save file is corrupt and that I may have to begin from the start again. But when I went to try and start a new game... again it froze.
I then came to this forum and it seems many other people are having the exact same issue.
Thank goodness for this advice:

Ok, for 360 users there is a workaround to be able to actually play your saves-
Go to System Settings > Memory > Press Y on your main storage device > Select Clear Cache
Load DA:O, choose no to download the update, and you may get an error stating your DLC is corrupt.
If that is the case, go back into System Settings > Memory > Storage Device > Games > Dragon Age Origins > Delete your DLC.
Load the game again, and let it install the patch. From the main menu, redownload your DLC, but DO NOT load a saved game.
Go back to the System Settings and clear the System Cache again. Load up DA:O and don't install the update. You should be able to load your games without any problems. I'm currently playing offline, with my saves and DLC.
It appears that the update may corrupt your DLC when you try and load a game with the update installed.
A HUGE thank you to you Orbytel, HUGE, because this works!
I done exactly what you wrote. I cleared the system cache (re-installed the game to my hard-drive straight after) started Dragon Age, got prompted for the update, declined, and ta-da!
Now I'm able to play Dragon Age
I should add that I don't have any DLC yet. Well, actually I do because I used the voucher for the Stone Prisoner content, which hasn't redeemed properly just yet although thats another problem I'll fix later.
I would just like to say to everyone else that, while I'm no expert, I don't think this update is corrupting save files at all because mine is exactly the same as it was yesterday. I have the same items I collected last night and I'm starting in the exact same place I left it off. My save file is fine.
And to Bioware, yes I am also using a new Xbox 360 Slim.
Hope this helps and, one more time to Orbytal, thank you for your advice! It is so very appreciated! Playing Dragon Age offline is far better than not playing it all!

I think at this point, it will be simpler to wait for an update to the update. Thankfully, I have other distractions, but with the purchase of a new slim and all of the DLC for Dragon's Age, I was starting to get back into that series.

The only bad side to that is if someone has already transferred their licenses. I just did that last week when I got the new system and you can only transfer licenses once a year. I'm sure MS would eventually give people the right to do it once more to correct an issue like this update patch, but by the time you could convince them to allow it, Bioware should (hopefully) have a patched patch up and running.

Unable to load save game as the required downloadable content is not present on the selected storage device. Please insert a storage device containing the required downloadable content, or download the downloadable content again. Embri's Many Pockets; Amulet of the War Mage.
I have both -- have had both since I purchase the game new.
I played as recently as last night.
Thanks for another FUNCTIONAL title update, Bioware!
[Update: After six attempts, the game allowed me to re-download the previously downloaded content. Seriously. WTF.]

I'm not one to assail companies with the tiniest of screw-ups, especially companies that I respect as top-of-the-list among all developers, but this is unacceptable. And to read in another thread that you will "hopefully" have it fixed quick isn't acceptable either. When a mistake renders a product completely useless it must be rectified right away. There should be no "hopefully" about it.
I understand there is the time factor in debugging and working with such complex code, but we are not your friends, we are your customers.
EDIT: Yes, I too have (and am using) the 360 SLIM.

So far the problem is restricted to the new Xbox360 Slim and from what I've been able to tell, some late-model Xbox360 Elites. We are in contact with Microsoft and are working hard on this problem. I'll keep monitoring the board for posts, but as soon as we have an update I'll be sure to pass it along.
Niice work, thanks to all BioWare team for trying to fixe the situation

Thank you for at least keeping in contact but as some said can't you pull the update so we can play for now?
As I said in the over form I'm using the new xbox slim, and when I last tried to play my xbox got the red light thing. So I wont be trying this again until I know it's fixed.

freezing when trying to load saves....im goin to try to do the cache but i can tell you it is a know fact that when having trouble with patches the only thing left to do is delete the last patch, ie, clear the cache and play offline
