Same problem at my end. A few days ago I was a happy playing Dragon Age on my new Xbox then I decide to buy the new DLC today and get through that. I am playing on the new Xbox 360. I have yet to try any fixes to the problem as I quickly went to play a different game. I guess I will just have to wait for another title update while I play some different games. Hope the problem gets fixed soon as I really want to play Dragon Age again.

Our apologies for those affected by this issue. We're working with MS on this to figure out why it would only affect a subset of 360s.

In the meantime, we've asked MS to remove the latest TU for the time being until we can resolve this, and replace it with the previous one.

We'll keep you informed of progress.

If we will get a new patch that will fix this, could you guys at Bioware please tell us if we need to clear the memory cache or not?

I have found the same problem. Unfortunately I got fed up and delted the game off the hard drive hoping this would work so I could make another character and play again. That did not work. What did work for me was clearing my cache and then playing the game without accepting the update. Wish I still had my saved progress. Oh well. Hope they get this update issue fixed soon. For everyone else trying clearing the cache first before doing anything drastic.

Just signed up at the forum after reading everyone's problems with the update issue. Although it's still frustrating to know my game has now been rendered useless until the issue is resolved, I'm pleased to know the Bioware team is already aware of it, and that it was not just my system having the problems. Hopefully it gets fixed in due time so we can all go back to playing this amazing game. I still have A LOT to do! (Also, since I'm new here, friend requests are quite welcome from all). Thank you everyone.

I made a post in the other thread but thought it's worth repeating here, both to catch the attention of Bioware, and to help out anyone else who is having the same problem. Here it is:

--------------

Hi there everyone. This is my first post in Bioware Social Network, and PHEW! What a life-saver it is.

The exact same thing has happened to me as is happening to everyone else that has the new Xbox 360 Slim. I bought Dragon Age: Origins yesterday and played it for about 3 hours last night (absolutely LOVE this game!). I had no problems whatsoever.

About 45 minutes ago, I switched my Xbox 360 on and got prompted for the update. I accepted and when it was complete, I went to resume my game. It tried loading for about 20 seconds and then froze. I thought it was just probably a standard error as I've had games freeze in the past. Then I restarted my console, and tried loading again. Same thing happened. Tried a 3rd time and AGAIN it froze.

I had installed the game to my hard-drive last night so I deleted it and tried running it from the disc. But again it froze. Then I started panicking, thinking my save file is corrupt and that I may have to begin from the start again. But when I went to try and start a new game... again it froze.

I then came to this forum and it seems many other people are having the exact same issue.

Thank goodness for this advice:

Ok, for 360 users there is a workaround to be able to actually play your saves-

Go to System Settings > Memory > Press Y on your main storage device > Select Clear Cache

Load DA:O, choose no to download the update, and you may get an error stating your DLC is corrupt.

If that is the case, go back into System Settings > Memory > Storage Device > Games > Dragon Age Origins > Delete your DLC.

Load the game again, and let it install the patch. From the main menu, redownload your DLC, but DO NOT load a saved game.

Go back to the System Settings and clear the System Cache again. Load up DA:O and don't install the update. You should be able to load your games without any problems. I'm currently playing offline, with my saves and DLC.

It appears that the update may corrupt your DLC when you try and load a game with the update installed.

do not work for me

every time i try the dlc end up corrupt even though i re-load everything

I am closing this thread to keep things tidy, but please feel free to continue discussion over there.
