They don't have to remove it but at the very least they could give the same amount of xp for killing a person as well as letting him go if such an option arises. Most of the time I kill Hermit not because I don't like him but because I get 130+ xp for his death and even more xp from the bandits who overrun his camp. The list goes on...

Though I AM in favour of removing kill xp I have to wonder: Why do you even care for this 130 exp?

I mean, if it was an entire levelup I could understand you.

But 130 exp is almost nothing. In my last playthrough I was at about 5000 exp, and would have needed another 5000 for NEXT level when I finished, so 130 more or less would have made no difference at all...

I was only giving an example. It's not just Hermit who you can kill/spare. There is a Loghain commander in Lothering, mercenary leader in Leliana encounter, blood mage in the circle tower, thug in dust town, an entire group of mercenaries in one of the mages' collective quests who you can simply intimidate into leaving, etc. This was even worse in Mass Effect, so I actually welcomed the new xp system in the sequel. If they are not removing xp per kill in DA2 they could at least give the same amount of it for resolving the situation peacefully rather than killing everything that moves.
