The Reaper wasn't going to look like a human. The art book shows the finished human reaper would look similiar to the rest with the human skeleton curled inside and with a squid exoskeleton.

Also the moaning and ****ing here is ridiculous. This is the only site where people call ME2's story a mess. Have you guys looked at other game's storylines recently? Everyone else agrees ME2 has a superb story. You are expecting the second coming of Christ.

I know that it looks retarded when somebody complaining about the art, especailly when bring up the fun, but this is what a special kind of s-h-*-t when you can't f-u-*-k-*-n-g finish the job yourself. Like try doing something after another person, it is then hard for him, and the result will be most likely dissapointing. I met this kind of situation many times in my life... I am not complaining about Walters, he is a good guy with a good talent and style. However, it is just a pain in the ass that they conciously ruining things. Why didn't they put Drew and didn't make him finish the job alone , or with the assistance of Walters. At least he will see what a contrardictory stuff they do... And which BS are talking about the skeleton inside of the octapus?! BAH WTF?! That is a comedy! What is the freaking purpose of a human skeleton inside of the octopus-looking abomination-devasting-machine...May I see that art book please, it sound to me like you having halluciantons... And yeah, you BS about second coming of Christ can be simply replaced by "Drew" , sounding well and making sense...

Really, I hate my complains too.
Really, I am not trying to portray myself, either am I,  a just a whining moron who is just a dumb-ass who has nothing to do, but to complain about others' work, while himself didn't do a sh*t for someone/something... I am just suggesting for it to be better...  know that it is a bad place for Devs to see, but maybe somehow lol... Really, I think it is just a best RPG ever, and I simply want it to be the BEST and better. Like any other fan-boy/fan-girl in here! Is it bad, wanting a perfection in the thing that you love to play, see, hear, expirience? I hope not...-_-  I am sorry for my BS... <_<

So any Bioware writer that has a history writing some parts in their games is fit to fill the role of a LEAD writer ? and i was not impressed with Jade ether, the worst scored game of Bioware to this date i think

You're the archetype of a stupid fanboy. Jade Empire was arguably BioWare's best work ever. I still think IGN's review was spot-on when they said they felt they were underrating it with 9.9

What game has had a world that felt as established as Jade's did from the moment the story started?

ME2 had its problems, and a lot of them, but overall I preferred its dialogue and characterizations, so I guess I'll go with Walters. I have no experience with his work outside ME2, but I have read some of Karpyshyn's, and it's lousy.

Well not necessarily. Lucas made up the character of Darth Bane but didn't give him that much of a history. Karpyshyn is just one of the people who filled in some of the blanks.

Why does it matter? Why do some of us feel the need to fangasam over one Bioware writer and deride the work of the other? They both work for a great company, they've both done a lot to flesh out some universes and characters we love, and yes they've both done things we as fans might not be entirely happy with. They are not fighting to death for our amusement, and they are not in competition with one another. I mean for all we know they bounce ideas off eacLet's h other all the time even when working on different products.

Let us abandon this foolish human desire to prove 'OUR [insert object of adoration] is BETTER than yours!'

As someone interested in astronomy and space travel in general I prefer the first games more realistic and believable approach as opposed to the facepalm moments in ME2. *Jack sunbathing in the light of a higly radioactive, shield frying aging sun, exposed skin in extreme environments, breathing masks and spandex, almost every world in the galaxy is a jungle world*

(concerning ME2 writing)Maybe Drew gave some input on some stuff, but it seems that his only contribution was the main plot involving the Collectors.

Now, my vote would have gone to Mac Walters anyway, but Mr Mida's quote caught my eye. I've never before heard that Drew was directly involved in the overarching plot in ME2. And while it's still pure speculation, it actually makes sense. I intensely dislike Drew's writing, but ME2's "main" plot kinda shows his signature style (short, but still visibly Drew's).

If it's true, it would be one more reason to go with Mac over Drew for me. ME1 plot was not too great.  Novels were not too great. ME2 overarching plot is anything but great. But the collection of short stories that is the meat of ME2 is fine. The comics have their problems, but I'm taking Mac's FLAT WHAT.-invoking powers over Drew's predictability any day.

Not that it matters any, the poll being 5 month old *facepalms herself*. I probably should not be following random links in sigs.

Well it took a while. But after 200 votes on the poll, 92% favour Karpyshyn over Walters. Walters have gained some ground.

Karpyshyn for world building. Absolutely. It seems to be his speciality, his worlds are alive believable even if based on an unbelievable concept. He usually have a grand scheme which gives a tension to the background, which I really appreciate.

For subplots and quick episodes, and dirty little bits like Purgatory: Walters. He makes these environments, schemes and subplots much more personal, you can almost feel you're right there.

Both.

But if I have to choose only one, I'd go with Karpyshyn.

I'm not entirely sure who was responsible for the plot of ME2, because the bad things may well have been based off of cliff notes that Drew made about the overarching series plot. On the other hand, maybe it was all Mac's fault.

I dunno.

While Walters has a better grip at dialogue and character development, I feel Karpyshyn provides a more compelling narrative and plot progression.

It is a real shame that we can't have both working side by side, as that would be the best result, but seeing we have to pick one, I'll stick Drew Karpyshyn.

I'm also really sad to having seen Chris go. Ash and Legion were my favorite characters.

edit: Forgot the obvious, whoever wrote LotSB deserves a co-Lead Writer status in Mass3. If it was the same guy who wrote Mordin, give him a big fat raise too.

Without a doubt Karpyshyn. His work as a certain degree of continuity that Walter's seems to lack.

Drew Karpyshyn definitely. Walters made a huge mess of things in ME2, both with lore and with the story, but that usually happens when you try to continue or finish what someone else started.

^ This is exactly how I feel about Walters/Karpyshyn.
Yeah i'll admit I enjoyed ME 1's story better then ME 2's.
But it might be because I went into ME 1 without knowing anything, and when ME 2 came out I followed the hype train, which i'm going to avoid with ME 3, to see if that makes a difference.

I love the grand sweeping plot that I assume Drew is good at.

I like the smaller stuff, the character development, I'll guess Walters focuses on that.

I couldn't stand some of the exposition in ME1 - like with Tali, where she basically just vomited out the history of her people. I love Tali because of ME2 for instance, not because of ME1.

As far as universe building, I like ME1 more. It seemed more consistent.

Me2 had some great characters, but whoever wrote that "human reaper" bit....he should be ashamed.
