When humans come to the fade they change it, through dreams or their deaths, or even just being stuck there. They make things out of the fade that demons and spirits don't even seem to completely comprehend. It brings to mind the movie Inception, where the main protagonist enters a dream and begins creating things. A demon put in the same place and given the same power would likely just sit around wishing he had some one cool to hang out with. Or at least that's what I think.
Not quiet true spirits in the fade create the dreamers dreams in order to feed of them (nightmares?) for demons or simply watch and study and simply understand what mortality is in the case of more benevolent spirits.
Regular people seem to have little influence upon the fade apart from being interesting to fade spirits. Mages do have more control as they are usually concious of there presence in the fade. (similar to luscid dreaming, which might be a way for people to realise magical ability) The DA:Origins still had to work to the rules created for them by the sloth demon, we couldn't fly or change anything other than our representation in the fade. A Human of greater willpower might be able to change the whole of a spirits realm to their will but we have no evidance of anything like that occuring. Perhaps only if the a mage is bodily in the fade.
