I was on a beefy PC though, so maybe these are console shots?
Did DA:O look good on consoles, or worse than this?

DAO on consoles (on 360 anyhow) looks err... I don't know if you can really compare a retail version with pre-release screenshots but, as it is, I would say it looked worse, texture-wise.

So this is an upgrade then! Cool.

Well, I believe that these photos were taken before graphic polishing has begun, of course the models of the companions such as Bethany and Hawke are already polished; but the generic enemies (such as the darkspawn looking enemies) and the terrain are usually the last to polish..
Plus, I have noticed that all the combat screenshots are in the same type of enviroment, so my guess is that those screenshots were taken while the devs were testing the other mechanics/features of the game...
But trust me, I don't think Bioware would let us down by downgrading the graphics.

And Flemeth doesn't look that old. I hope she can join our party!

awesome, thanks! I'm pumped because the environments look like traditional "Dragon Age".

Well.... It does seem like she is holding a darkspawn's hand, so she may be taken already

Well Bioware could simply keep repeating that this is a new art direction and not answer the question. Similar to how Bioware avoided answering questions about how long Awakening was suppose to be.

It's pretty close, still, sims has the upper hand due to a more polished presentation.

The Sims always had solid graphics (and character graphics in particular) so that's hardly a complaint. In fact if the DA2 is "pretty close" then it's more of a compliment.Rubbish Hero wrote...

What's worse, Greg Zeschuk commented to the press it would look "super hot".
It looks like Crysis on low.
Really? He said "super hot"

Ok lets slowly back down from the Blizzard pwnz Bioware fanisms.Rubbish Hero wrote...
Bioware simply doesn't have Blizzards polish.
How many Bioware single player games in the last 10 years, how many Blizzard single player games in the last 10 years?
I think WoW looks extremely boring, but I loved the original Diablo music.
The fact is I've played Diablo and...?
meanwhile Bioware has delivered
Mass Effect
ME2
Dragon Age
Awakenings
KOTOR
Jade Empire
It's 2 completely different business models. Blizzards model is to count cash from their MMO. Bioware is focussed on single player AAA games in short timelines.
Starcraft 2 cutscenes look nice, but how long did this game take again? 8 years?

Bethany's hair looks like a solid mass of purple plastic. Not a good first impression. Natural hair is hard to achieve but it can be done. Chloe in Uncharted 2 is far superior.
Uncharted 2 in general paid far, FAR more attention to graphics than BioWare typicaly does.
Uncharted 2 would have been 10x more fun if it was an RPG and they had Swords and changeable outfits.

Oh man if a DA game looked as nice as Uncharted 2 I would die happy. That was a really gorgeous game.
It also had very small levels and invinite respawning enemy points that ruined it for me. I'm not a fan of the idea of having Call of Duty style infinite respawning trigger points to pad length to a game.

Sims 3 are only for girls and small kids :-)

Even with plastic hair Bethany looks somewhat human. That sim looks like someone skinned a mango and threw some makeup on it.
Scratch that actually, mango flesh has a lot more texture.

I hope this doesn't count as a personal attack but i'm seriously wondering if rubbish has very bad sight or just wants to argue ridiculous things. Nobody could possibly think the blobby textureless puddings of unmodded Sims 3 look good.
